  • *TERRIFIED* of fireworks, won't go outside?

This is our first 4th of July with our Boston Terrier. While we do not have plans to set off fireworks, multiple neighbors are setting them off at all hours of the day/night. Our dog normally sits at the door and waits for you to let her outside, where she is fine relieving herself alone, but the past few days she has to have someone come out with her. We lead her out into the yard and she will pee quickly and run back inside. Trying to keep her out there long enough for her to poop is impossible. She is now pooping in the house because she is so terrified to go outside.

Of course, we will try to ease her anxiety by encouraging her to lie in her kennel where she feels safe/talking to her in a soothing voice/etc. However, I refuse to let our house become a toilet! Does anyone have any advice? :-/

  • Judge Belvin Perry...?

Exudes an amazing sense of patience, but doesn't mess around at the same time. What is your opinion? Do you think he has been expeditious about getting this mockery over with?

  • Does it typically take longer for your state tax return to come than your federal?

I had to file by mail and my federal return was here within a few weeks, its now a couple months later and I am still waiting on my state return. I was always told state was quicker than federal, but it seems to be the opposite. Is this common? I live in Nebraska. I have tried to check the status and it says its been processed.

    TIA! :-)

  • How do you explain divorce to a four year old?

My ex and I divorced when our daughter was 2 years of age. She is now 4 and has made comments to both of us that she wishes mom and dad lived in the same house with her. How did you explain this type of thing to your child?

    Thanks! :-)

  • I can't afford a Littmann for EMT class, can you recommend the next best thing?

I am in EMT-B training right now and need to find a stethoscope that isn't quite as expensive as a Littmann. I've heard you will lose stetho's a lot in the field, and I would rather not spend $80 on something that could potentially "disappear" after the first week of use. Yes, I realize that you get what you pay for, but I just can't afford a Littmann at this point.

I've been trying to do some research online, but haven't come up with much of a definitive answer, so I thought I would try Yahoo Answers. I've researched Delphi stetho's and those seem to have somewhat good ratings. Has anyone ever used one of these?

Any information you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! :-)

  • Is it too late to enroll in EMT-B?

I have decided after some extensive pondering that I would like to enroll in an EMT basic course of study. However, the nearest community college offering this course, started the class on Tues, September 1st. It meets twice a week, on Tues and Thurs. As of today, I have missed four class periods. If I get the book, do a ton of reading/note taking, would it be too late for me to catch up with the rest of the class? I am also seeing an academic advisor first thing in the morning tomorrow to discuss this, so we will see what the rules are, specific to the college itself.

I consider myself a quick learner and catch on very quickly. However, being I have no experience in this field of study, I need to know if someone has experienced this or can give me a bit of advice.

I am wondering if I should just wait and enroll when the next class is offered.

Thanks for reading this, and I appreciate any helpful input you may have. :)

  • How to guess the age of your pet?

Does anyone have advice on how to estimate the age of your pet? We just adopted a rescue dog and they people we got her from said they thought she was around 3 years of age.

How might they know that? Are there certain physical traits that can tell a pets age...besides the obvious one like really gray hair and sagging skin?

    Thanks!

  • Found 5 fleas on dog...?

I adopted a rescue dog from a local farm and I brought her home and bathed her. I found a total of 5 fleas in her bath water. I guess I am curious to know if that is considered normal for a farm dog or if I should be concerned about our house now? Is it possible there were just a few fleas on the dog and none of them have gotten anywhere else in the house? I bathed her with flea shampoo twice this evening and also applied Frontline treatment from the vet. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

  • I am Catholic, fiancee isn't...?

I plan on checking with my church asap on the details, but I thought I would ask here too...what kind of ceremony can we have if I am Catholic, but my fiancee isn't? Is it basically the same as the traditional Catholic wedding, but minus the sacrament of Communion? Also, can anyone tell me how long the marriage prep classes took to complete? Thanks!!! :-)
