  • What is your favorite STANDALONE fantasy novel?

I love to read, but it seems lately everyone has to have these big long series, and while I do love some of them, I'm looking for recommendations for standalone fantasy novels.

I made a recipe that called for lemon zest, so I zested my lemon. But what should I do now with just one lemon?

  • Jesu/Wind Beneath My Wings?

Once upon a time, I had a recording of a piano solo medley of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Wind Beneath My Wings. I have no idea who the artist might have been but ever since then I have been looking for a new recording of it or the sheet music to it. Does anyone know of such a piece?

  • Who would have jurisdiction?

This may be a strange question but I was watching NCIS and Numb3rs and thought of this one. If a crime happened at the FBI Training Academy at Quantico, would the FBI have jurisdiction since it is their academy, or would NCIS have jurisdiction because Quantico is a Marine base?

  • What are your picks for classic literature?

My sister's Christmas wish list includes the following:

    "classic literature, especially children's books."

What would your top titles be for such a request?

(My sister is an avid reader, so is her husband and they have two kids--a boy who is five and a girl who is eight months.)

  • Who has been posthumously elected?

I know that in the 2000 elections, Mel Carnahan was elected to the Senate posthumously. I read an article that said that was the first time someone had been elected posthumously for the Senate but it also said that three times representatives had been elected posthumously to the House of Representatives.

Who were those three representatives? I can't find who they were.

Additionally, in the Missouri Senate race--Carnahan's wife filled the seat. Who filled the seats for those House candidates who were elected after they died?

This is a question about the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter--as we know it respondes to your desires and things can appear or diappear as you need or want them. So what do you think would happen if someone were asleep and dreaming in the Room of Requirement?

  • Ayn Rand's Anthem?

I absolutely love Anthem. But I am curious, why is it in the public domain? (I've found the text of it on multiple sites, including Gutenberg.) Rand died in 1982. Shouldn't the copyright have lasted a great deal longer?

  • Irregular Period?

I've been menstruating for 12 years but in the past year my periods have started to become irregular. I am not sexually active but I haven't menstruated since last September. Or rather, I get the pain and cramps that I have always gotten but I have no blood discharge. Even more worrisome is that during the time when I should have blood, I find blood in my urine.

What is wrong with my body?
