Lets face it for a average driver a 27th spot is good and only way jr gets higher finish is if 20 + cars crash

I always believed Chevy ( or some GM car like the old days) should be big in stock car racing and now that GM realizes that chapter 11 can keep them alive buy dumping UAW which will make them competitive , Chevy may be able to be a force in long term. You can say what you want about Toyota but they are doing better in US than Chevy and this decision by GM will allow them to be competitive again

Detroit news said today that Chevy is reconsidering its sponsorship of Daytona 500 and July race due to uncertainty of bailout or terms attached with it.

GM has called in bankrupt lawyers to determine it's best option(NBC news) to stay open and I doubt if NASCAR funding will be there.

May be its time for NA$CAR to wake up and realize it maay now have made the races more boring to watch than watching golf.

GM stock according to CNN dropped 21% to lowest level since 1950 And is expected to take another hit when it exceeds last quarters losses this quarter. I would think smart owners would start looking at other auto manufactures so they have a auto sponsor next year or just hope a foreign company buys GM assets and keeps it running.

NA$CAR has not made its rule book public and seems change them (rules)as they see fit. If you do not have a consistent policy for drug testing, they could be open to serious legal and other actions.

Lately NASCAR seems it is changing the rules to let who ever they want to benefit and use of a independent judging group would remove the question of favoritism from a questionable decision

Racing In it's self is a dangerous sport. While you want to make it as safe proof as possible will it take away the daring and all out effort to win driving like the great drivers of the past. Petty, Dale Sr, Yardboro. Roberts. These drivers knew the dangers and took chances and drove any way they could to win regardless of fact they could be hurt or worst That is what made them a shade above the rest I believe. With todays car and safety rules that chance to be a little more "gutsy is gone" It's turning NASCAR into a amusment park type bumper car game

How long before it is forced to reduce spending on the Nascar's teams it now gives money to for driving Chevy's.. And when (not if) it does will teams switch to Japanese cars ?
