I'm staying with a friend in the US Military stationed in Germany. He has a US version Wii, and also uses AOL DSL to access the internet. Because you have to log in to AOL from each machine to access the internet, we're using a proxy server on one of the machines, which enables the Wii to go online using that computer's internet connection (can't figure out a way to log the Wii in directly to the aol connection).

Although we can get it online, we can access all channels EXCEPT the Wii Shop Channel, and we'd really like to be able to purchase some old school games. Nintendo support was not able to resolve the issue, telling us that the shop was region encoded, and that's probably why we can't access the shop.

Any ideas on how we can get the Wii shop to work using this configuration? I'm assuming the Wii shop checks your IP address to ensure you are in the right region, but don't know if there's a way to spoof it, or somehow fool it into thinking we are in the US.

My wife is getting ready to visit her folks in North Carolina, and we live in Florida.

Although we have driven there a few times, my wife gets very worried/frustrated when she doesn't know right where we are on the map, and I won't be in the car to keep her confident.

I'm thinking of buying a Tom Tom One, because the reviews seem to be pretty positive for the upper end of my price range.

I want something that will show her where she is, and where she is going easily, and talk the directions out (she's not great with maps)

Even though she is going to mountain-ville NC, I'm not worried about her getting lost once she gets pretty close, so if the maps aren't terrific, it's no big deal, her parents live off of a highway.

She just needs to know that she hasn't missed her exit, and that sort of thing.
