Dilemma over finding out gender of baby?
I'm having a dilemma that I'm sure most of you have gone through... whether to wait or find out the gender of the baby! My husband doesn't want to know... and I think I want to know (although I do think not knowing would be interesting, there are a few disadvantages). It makes it so difficult to decorate a nursery (I do not want to do the yellows & green route) and I think it also makes the baby shower difficult as people have to buy gender neutral gifts (and I totally want to do the baby shower before the baby is born). We're not pregnant yet, but I am unbelievably organized tend to try and plan everything in life hence the forward thought. This is something we've talked about and wanted some opinions from people who'd been in this situation. My husband and I are running marathons in May, I'm doing a triathlon in October and then after that we'll be TTC!!! We're both so excited!!
I'd like to hear from people who've been through this, what they did and whether they would have made a different decision going through this again.
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoQuestion surrounding ability to concieve?
My husband and I have decided to start trying to conceive at the end of 2010 (yay!!) and we're both very excited! We've been together for over 5 years and for the first three years I was on the birth control pill. We have been using the withdrawl method for the past two years - clearly not a 100% effective method. I haven't had a scare within that time at all and now that we're so close to actually starting to try for a family I'm a bit worried that we're going to have trouble conceiving.
We're both healthy, never had any issues with our yearly physicals. I'm 24 and my husband is 27. I have regular periods - we have no issue with infertility in our family history. I have already started taking prenatal vitamins and eating healthy to prepare my body as much as possible. Not sure if there is more I should be doing to prep my body - suggestions are appreciated!
Has anyone else gone through this or can you offer any advice?

Is there anything you would have done differently? Do you wish you would have waited longer?
Basically getting down to it - pros and cons? I hear so many different people say they wouldn't trade the experience for the world and in the same breath talk about all the things they missed out on. I would love to hear your opinions on this!

13 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoFor those who had planned pregnancies...?
My husband and I are trying to figure a time line for babies. This will be the first for both of us ! Very exciting times <3 On paper it appears that we're both at the perfect point to begin having babies. We have 5 gorgeous nieces and nephews who we love more than anything in the world and have raised them like our own. We have a large family and friends network who would be more than happy to assist us in any way possible. We're both steady in our careers. We will be purchasing our second home in the coming months - this will be our family home (the first home is a rental property). We've always both said that we want to start our families young - my husband is nearing thirty and I'm in my mid-twenties.
My question is - those of you who have had planned pregnancies how did you decide on a time line? We still love our vacations and new things - I get caught up in that although I know that none of this will compare to the thought of being a mother <3 I keep going back and forth. I'm definately a planner who loves to have a plan for everything.
Just looking for some opinions - what made you decide you decide that the timing was correct?

8 AnswersToronto1 decade agoQuestion for newly pregnant women?
I'm not on any birth control, my husband and I have used the pull out method for a year and half without any issues. I had just figured that we would have problems getting pregnant with that track record? We have talked about having children and if I am pregnant it will be great, I'm just wondering because my body has been very strange lately! I usually get my period like clockwork on the 26th of each month, it may be a day late, but has never been early.
My breasts were swollen and tender beginning almost 2 weeks ago. I have been having trouble sleeping, getting night sweats. My back is sore. I got a very light period (not sure what to call it) on the 20th, 6 days earlier than expected (usually my period is heavy for two days and then light for 2). This period was very light and has continued until tonight (21st). I also have light cramping. I took a pregnancy test last evening and it showed negative.
Has any experienced anything similar to these symptoms? I'm wondering if I took the test too early to show positive results? Any suggestions or stories for anyone who's just become pregnant or have been pregnant before?
8 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoBridesmaid gifts... help!?
I have 2 maids of honor and 4 bridesmaids that I am trying to find the perfect present to finish my gift to them. I've put together a little "bridesmaid survival kit", dvd's (27 dresses, Wedding Crashers, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, etc). I also am looking at personalized cotton shoe bags to put everything in. But I'm looking for something to finish it all... I was going to get the Flip video camera, but I want to keep it under $100 for the rest... any ideas!??!

3 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoFormal wedding question?
My wedding is in the fall and I'm working on the wording of my invitations. My wedding is to be a very formal event. I am currently working on how to word this in my invitations. My hope is to have all the women in formal, floor length dresses and the men in suits and tuxes.
The suggestion that has been made is to put something such as "black tie optional" on the invitations. Does anyone else have any other suggestions on how to do this?
12 AnswersEngagements & Weddings1 decade agoFuture family in law?
My fiancee is insisting that his sisters be in my bridal party. I do not get along with them at all, and am really upset that he is insisting. His family is also pushing him to have them stand as well.
He already has his brother's standing up with him, so I do not see why his entire family has to be in the wedding party.
I don't know what to do, should I smile and try to get along with them or tell him no and create a big rift inbetween his family?
