  • Is there anything I can do about insomnia during pregnancy?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant, and I've never been a good sleeper (even pre-pregnancy). For the last two weeks I've had a really hard time falling asleep -- tonight is the worst, it's 4:00am and I'm tired but not sleepy and I feel horrible. I'm really trying to work as long as I can, but I'm not doing a great job and I'm really stressed out. Is there anything I can do to help me get on a better sleep schedule? I've been hesitant to take any medications at all, but if there's something that's pretty risk-free and over-the-counter, I'm getting desperate.

  • What do you think of my cloth diaper stash?

Okay, here is what I have so far in the way of cloth diapers:

2 One-Size Pocket Diapers (One BG with velcro and one Haute Pockets, since it had snaps)

1 Extra-Small AIO (this one was just so cute, I had to buy it)

4 Small AIO (I got these with the free bumgenius coupons!)

3 One-Size Flips Diaper Covers (all with snaps)

2 One-Size Softbums Diaper Covers (velcro)

11 inserts to use with the covers

    20 prefolds

    2 Wet/Dry bags

I'm thinking I can use the inserts/prefolds and covers at home, the AIOs when we go out or with sitters, and the pockets at night. I know I need to buy some cloth wipes (maybe 24), but what else do you think I need? I'm thinking one more cover at least? Another Pocket Diaper? If I buy more BG product, I'll try to see if I can find another AIO coupon, too.

I'm due May 9th with my first and am all kinds of excited about cloth diapering :)

  • How often will a breastfed baby eat at 3 months?

It's probably too early to worry about this, since I'm 31 weeks pregnant, but I'm thinking about how to continue breastfeeding when I return to work.

I'll be able to stay home with my first baby for 14 weeks (that's if she arrives on her due date - I'll be with her a little longer if she's early and a little less if she's late, since I'm returning to work part-time on August 20th regardless.)

I'll be gone from the house from about 8:30 to 12:30 each day (that includes drive time to and from; I live really really close) -- she'll need to take a bottle sometime in there probably, right? When should I buy a pump? And how should I start pumping if I've been demand feeding up til that point? Should I get her to take the bottle (hopefully with breastmilk in it) prior to me going back to work so that she's used to it? Should I just pump the previous day so that she'll have a bottle for the morning when I'm gone?

  • How would you spell this name?

Which of the following names for a baby girl do you prefer?

    A) Amelie

    B) Amalie

    C) Amalee

I like A because it's the most common spelling, and the correct spelling in French - and it's a French name.

I like B because it's more like how it sounds.

I don't especially like C, but it's the way my great-aunt spelled the name (so it is also family name).

  • Will I ever look and feel pregnant?

I'm 17w5d, and I'm getting a little frustrated that I don't look pregnant and haven't felt anything. I am overweight, and I know that affects both things - starting to show and feeling the baby move - but I was hoping that some of the other ladies out there could give me a little reassurance and tell me their personal experience of when they started showing and felt the baby move.

This is my first pregnancy, and I weighed 190 pounds pre-pregancy (I'm 5'6" and relatively healthy, I'm still in my size 14 pre-pregnancy pants, though I had some 12's that are now uncomfortable). I've gained 4 pounds so far.

So, like I said, I'm nearly 18 weeks pregnant, and don't look different (except that my nipples are huge and dark), haven't thrown up, and can't feel the baby move yet - my mom and my grandma are starting to doubt that I'm actually pregnant. (We did hear the baby's heartbeat at the 10 week ultrasound and at my 14 week appointment.)

  • Has anyone successfully conceived after being on DEPO for 5 or more years?

I was on DEPO (and loved it) for about 9 years, from the time I was 17 to 26.

I wanted to just stop the DEPO and start trying to have a baby (with the knowledge that it would probably take 6-10 months for fertility to return), but my gynecologist strongly suggested that I get on the pill first to regulate my periods.

So, I had my last shot on November 5th and started a pill pack a little while after the next shot was due, mid-February.

I started having regular periods again right away. I took the pills until the end of June, so for 4 months. Since then, we've been using condoms for these two months just to get the pill all the way out of my system (again, recommended by the gynecologist and the ortho-evra drug info insert).

Anyway, we start trying officially this month! I'm excited, but maybe a little anxious that even after all of this waiting, it'll still take us a while.

I've just read a ton of horror stories on the internet about lack of fertility after DEPO, and would be reassured if some people who conceived could share how long it took them. Thanks!

  • Any suggestions for middle names for girls?

I have a boy name picked out: James Robert Buffaloe, after my dad, but I'm having a bit more trouble with girl names.

I like Adele ________ Buffaloe or maybe Leigh _________ Buffaloe.
