How do I tell my son he might not see his half-brother again and that his dad is in jail for a long time?
So baby daddy is in and out of jail a good bit. This last time he got out, he seemed to be doing better, so I let him see my son X. It was going good enough that I let X meet his half-brother K (same dad). They had about 4-5 play dates. X couldn't get enough of the fact he had a sibling. Well as I sure you all guessed, he wound up right back in jail from a chain of events and choices he made because I wouldn't get back together with him. It's like if he can't be with me then our son doesn't matter. Now that he's back in jail, X doesn't get to see K because the other baby momma and I definitely don't get along (twisted reasons on her and baby daddy's behalf) or even speak to each other, plus they moved out of town. X keeps bringing up K and I don't know what or how to tell him. He loves his brother so so much. It brings tears to my eyes every time. I've been redirecting his attention and changing the subject. However, he doesn't ask about his dad who he has seen more then 5 times which doesn't surprise me. If one day he does, how do I tell him that his dad is in jail and how do I explain to a 4-5 year old he probably won't see his brother again?
