1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoNew ipod touch question?
Just got it in the mail and setting everything up and I'm trying to get it to connect to my wifi network. It's picking up the network okay, but then it asks for a password. This probably sounds like a stupid question, but is that the same as my 'wireless security key', which is the code that needs to be entered whenever somebody else wants to join my network (my daughter's friends and their laptops). I've entered that code on the ipod, but it keeps coming up 'unable to join network'. The instructions that came with the ipod are not much help, as they are only very basic. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
2 AnswersMusic & Music Players9 years agoProblems with Minecraft?
The game keeps crashing every ten minutes or so due to some problem with Java. It's driving me nuts because I can't figure out what the problem is. I have Windows7 and the latest Java installed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java, but that didn't help. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it? Thanks for any suggestions.
PS. I'm not sure if I posted this in the correct category.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games9 years agoWhy won't all of my iTunes songs show up in my Windows media player?
Not all songs I buy from iTunes show up in my media player which is a bummer since I have an MP3 player. Does anyone know why that is and how I can fix that? Thanks.
3 AnswersMusic & Music Players9 years agoIs it legal to fine an employee for not wearing their name badge?
My daughter just started with her first after school job and I was reading through her induction folder. It says that it's mandatory for all employees to wear their name badge at all times (fair enough), but then it says that if they are caught without it, they will be fined $10! WTF! I want to know if they can legally do that. I've never heard of such a ridiculous rule. Any ideas anyone?
4 AnswersLaw & Legal10 years agoHelp with German citizenship?
I'm Australian by birth, but both my parents were born in Germany and were German at the time of my birth (before 1975).
I wish to apply for the German citizenship by ancestry in order to move to France. I've contacted the German consulate in Australia and given them all the requested documents, but they said that I need to prove that my father was a German citizen when I was born.
I've provided his birth certificate (to prove that he was born a German), his de-registration papers from his German residence (to prove that he was a German when he migrated) and his Australian naturalisation certificate (dated 7 years after my birth).
I thought that would be enought proof, but they told me that it's not. Apparently I need to provide my father's German passport from the time of his immigration into Australia. The problem is that he had to surrender that passport when he gained the Australian citizenship.
I don't know what else to do now. This is really important to me and it's very frustrating. Can somebody please help me with this. Any links to useful sites or genuine advice would be very welcome.

People say it all the time and I was just wondering what it means if somebody says to you 'You have to find out who you are'.

4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow can I report a user who has sent me an abusive e-mail?
I answered his question to the best of my knowledge and he didn't like my answer and sent me an abusive e-mail. I'm very upset that there is no 'report' button in the message. Is there a way I can report this person to Yahoo?

No online translations please. I can do that myself.
4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHelp with French prepositions?
I'm teaching myself French at the moment and I'm having trouble with knowing which prepositions to use. It's one thing to know what 'with' 'on' 'for' 'to' etc. mean, but quite another to know when to use them. I've noticed they are often different from how they are used in English. Is there some kind of formula or trick to remembering when to use what? Or maybe there is a website for this particular topic. Any help would be appreciated, preferably from native speakers or advanced French students. Thank you.
4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow do you say "I will take some photos" in French?
I don't trust what Google translate tells me (it looks so wrong), so please can I get answers only from native speakers.
Merci.
1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoNative French speakers help me please?
I'm trying to say 'It's hot today. I wish it would rain. I have to water the plants or they will die.'
This is what I've got. 'Aujourd'hui il fait chaud. Je souhaite qu'il pleuve. Je dois donner à l'eau des plantes ou ils mourront.'
Is this ok?
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoNative French speakers please?
How do you say 'pick up' as in I have to pick up my daughter from school? Thanks.
Is it Je dois (pick up) ma fille de l'école? I've only started teaching myself French a few weeks ago and I'm lost. LOL.
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoA question for native speakers of any language?
Do people of your language make as many grammatical and spelling errors as native English speakers? It just seems that wherever I look, people can't spell or don't have a grasp on basic grammar or punctuation. Is this a sign of the times all over the world, or is this something unique to English speakers? I'm native in both English and German and this doesn't seem to be a common problem with German people. Just curious.
6 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhat jobs are there where I don't have to deal with people?
I'd like to work from home and preferably with my computer, but I don't know where to start. I'm well educated, but I find dealing with people too stressful. Any suggestions would be welcome.
7 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoFrench speakers please help me?
How can I say 'Thank you for the photos. I like them very much.' I know all the words, and could translate it literally, but I'm not sure if that would work. No google translations please - that would be as reliable as doing it myself. Thanks.
5 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIs Windows Live Messenger the same as MSN?
This probably sounds like a dumb question, but people keep asking me if I have MSN and I don't know what to tell them. I have Windows Live Messenger on my new computer and just wondered if that is the same thing or not.
5 AnswersMSN1 decade agoHow do you say 'idiot' in French?
Like when someone does something stupid and you want to just say 'idiot', nothing else. Would you say 'imbécile' or is there another word a native speaker would use?
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIn France, are there different dialects for different regions?
I lived in Germany for a long time and I know that Germans from different regions have different dialects. Some, if very broad, can be difficult to understand by other Germans even. I was wondering if the same is true for France? For example, people in the south, do they sound different to people in the north? Or country people sound different from city people? I know that Belgian French sounds different from French French and Canadian French and so on. I need this for a project.
