What is a good thing to ask for for Christmas, birthdays, etc?

I want to know because every Christmas, I'm not sure what to ask for and then my mom gives me a really lame gift( sorry, mom but it's true) and I feel guilty when she asks me if I like it or not and I lie. :(
Seriously, though last Christmas I got 2 of the same thing!!! (Long story)
