What's with this? I found what looks like seedlings growing out of my store-bought tomatoes!?
Mom threw them away because when she cut into the tomatoes, there were these tiny plant beginnings that looked sort of like white worms, but each had a little green tip on the end, like a tiny leaf. Were the tomatoes safe to eat like that?
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden8 years agoHow old must an unpaid debt be before debt collectors stop calling about it?
When my father died unexpectedly over 15 years ago, my mother and I were unable to pay the debt on a mobile home. I live on disability and can not pay. I am still getting calls about this old debt. I regret that this happened, but this is such an old debt!

2 AnswersMovies10 years agoWhat's your opinion? Especially if you are an auto mechanic, I'd like your input about this...?
My friend "Linda" has a 1992 Buick. She's just had new tires put on it and had a tune-up done. Not too long back, she had the AC fixed. The AC still makes a noise and she said something about oil leaking from around her manifold cover. Whatever the case, the shop that did her AC, tune-up, tires, and supposedly fixed the manifold actually never stopped the noise with the AC and the manifold problem was never repaired right. It leaked oil even worse! She ended up taking her car to this shop where the owner is very knowledgeable and really knows a car inside & out. He did all sorts of repairs on her car and it cost her $2900! There's still a couple of other things he says she needs to do to the car, but it'll be okay for the time being. Anyhow, when she told me about this, I was in shock! I had dealings with this guy about 11 years ago and let me tell you, even though he really knows his stuff, he's also a real "salesman"! My car had basically needed a new spark plug and he found over a thousand dollars' worth of other "problems" that he said needed addressing. I told him then that I couldn't afford all that, so he kept saying "Well, you can hold off on such and such for now, so it would be $800" and I said I couldn't afford that, so he said I could hold off on another repair and it would be $500 and...so on it went. I finally had to tell him to just make it so the car would run normally. I paid a little over $100 and my car did fine. My cousin was taking auto mechanics at the local trade school at the time and this guy goes in to talk to the class and was bragging to them how he makes many thousands of dollars a week in the repair biz! He was quite proud of himself and had a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" attitude as he bragged! Anyway, he charges two or three times what many other shops charge. And yes, he gets your car done right, but it still seems to me like he's taking advantage of some people. My friend is a widow on social security plus she has to clean houses to make ends meet. She had to take out a loan to pay for these repairs. Doesn't it seem like he should have at least suggested she consider getting another used car, instead of putting that much money into a car that's not even worth $1500? I'd like to know how others feel about a situation like this. It's true that my friend didn't have to agree to the work, but she was scared because she needs a car for work. I wish I had known she was going to him or I would've warned her about him! I give him credit for being an excellent mechanic, but he's even better at sucking your bank account dry! So what do other auto technicians think about this?
And one last thing: I'm not implying that he's done anything illegal. Not illegal, but not the most ethical either in my opinion.
6 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs10 years agoWhat is the law as regards to giving a patient sufficient meds?
A friend of mine, who lives in California, has severe emphysema. His doctor prescribes him 1 Pro Air inhaler per month. He really needs two or three per month with the severity of his disease. He said that the insurance won't allow more than one per month, so the doctor has to go along. Any thoughts please? He is very bad off!
1 AnswerInfectious Diseases10 years agoI went to do a system recovery on my pc. I still have the 3 system recovery CDs. But I have questions!?
I inserted the first CD and after it installed, it appeared to be completely done. There was no prompts to insert CDs 2 and 3. Also, I thought the recovery had let me choose the option to back up my saved data (such as music and photos) but they are all gone. Any clues? Also, if my saved data is gone forever, c'est la vie....
1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoMy parakeet always drinks his water hanging upside-down. Is this normal?
That's how he's always done it! He's healthy and we've had him for 1 1/2 years. I have little experience with parakeets. My cockatiel drinks normally. LOL!

1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoHow soon can I use regular after-shampooing conditioner on my newly permed hair?
I got my hair permed last Tuesday (about 4-5 days ago) and my beautician always says to wait a full two weeks before using conditioner. It is hard to wait so long! All I need to do is use everyday conditioner after shampooing to help my hair be easier to comb and style. Right now, I just hide my hair under a bandanna! I if I just wet my hair and comb it into place and use gel or hairspray, it leaves a wet look. If I comb it afterwards, then it's poofy! I'm not a blow-dryer or curling iron user. Never could do it well!!! My hair is layered and is shorter on the sides and tapers down in the back to about shoulder length. The curl's a little tighter than I like it, but my hair is so straight and grows so fast, that my stylist always uses alternating pink and white rods in the front and white in the back. It takes a couple of weeks before my hair starts to relax a bit.
Anyway, I sure would love to condition my hair! I just don't understand why 2 weeks is the magic number!

2 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoI need a computer microphone for my desktop to use on Skype to talk to a friend. Any recommendations?
I don't need anything at all fancy. My pc is about 4 years old and I only downloaded Skype to my pc so I could talk to a friend that moved to Guam. I need something inexpensive but will work good too. I see so many kinds on ebay for real cheap, but am not sure if they're good enough. Any help would be appreciated!
4 AnswersAdd-ons1 decade agoAnyone here know of a really good blender that will crush ice with no problem?
I've bought two and had to return them because they weren't doing the job at all. I read that the Osterizer is good for it, but mom insists we try one blender that we saw that costs a lot more and I hate to pay more than is necessary! The one she's talking about is $60 and the Osterizer is $24. Please advise!
Thanks!
