  • Recipes with no gluten, corn, dairy, or sugar?

I'm trying to find some recipes that have no gluten, corn, dairy, or sugar that are good for SNACKS and/or DESSERTS. I have two friends who cannot eat these ingredients and we often get together with groups of people to which I bring snacks/dessert to share. So, it would be great if these are also appealing to people without these allergies.

    Thanks!

  • Diverse Neighborhood, Seattle?

My roommate and I are trying to relocate in Seattle but the demographics of many neighborhoods here in the city have changed so much since I last looked around.

    Here's what we're looking for:

We're want to avoid living in mid- to upper-income neighborhoods that are typically predominantly Caucasian and highly educated. (Hear me out, there's certainly NOTHING wrong with being white and/or educated.) We both have a sense of wanting to live where 'real' people are, if that makes sense. We want to live in a place where there is some sense of community, where minorities are, perhaps, a majority - or at least not a rarity. It would be awesome if there were families around, a community center and/or library and, hey, some good, cheap eats! :)

Did I just describe something that doesn't exist? And, just to throw a wrench in things, we probably can't live south of I-90 because of some commuting needs. I understand that Rainier-ish might be ideal but I think that will be too far south for us. We've considered the Central District but understand there's been a great deal of gentrification there in the last few years.

    Thoughts? THANK YOU!

  • Math Question - Converting?

A girl ran 10 miles in 1 hour and 53 minutes. If she runs 10 kilometers at the same pace, how long will it take her?

Not just the answer, please, but an explanation would be helpful.

    Thanks!

  • What are some must-see, must-do things in Portland?

I'm going to be visiting Portland, OR on a week day in a couple of weeks. Everything I read about the city suggests that I go to the Market which is on Saturdays or to the big Rose Park. It's bound to be chilly so I'm hoping to find some interesting things to do that won't cost a lot and won't be all outside (I'm cool with walking around and being outside but need other options).

  • Should I fail my students for copying?

I teach 6th grade. Many of my students just turned in a project that is COMPLETELY plagiarized. We had a long discussion about not copying before they started and I gave them a rubric on how they would be graded which clearly stated that they cannot plagiarize. Should I fail them or let them do it again?

  • Use savings to pay off debt or keep the savings?

I have a few thousand dollars saved in anticipation of buying a car in about 9 months. However, I also currently have a couple grand of credit card debt. I've been making more than triple the minimum payment on the debt but the interest rates are so high that I don't feel I'll ever catch up at this rate.

Should I keep saving the money for the car (which, by the way, I will have to have in 9 mos) or pay off the debt?

  • What is the job market like for teachers in Boston?

I'm considering moving to Boston next fall. I know that in some cities landing a teaching job is a great challenge. What's the market like in Boston? I have a few years of experience - in both urban and suburban schools.

  • What do I feed 20 people? On a budget...?

I have to bring dinner (and dessert) to someone's house for a meeting. There will be about twenty people there and because of time restrictions and the fact that it's not at my house, I don't have a lot of time or space for prep work.

I really need it all to cost less than $100... if possible! Yikes! Help!! What do I feed to a lot of people?!

  • Should I serve wine with Mexican/tacos?

I will be having guests over for chicken tacos and I would like to serve wine. I'm not sure, however, if that would serve well together. If I should serve wine, what kind would go well with such flavorful food?

  • Where can I find a grad school for urban education?

I'm looking to enhance my career working in urban schools. I want to be as effective as possible in assisting my students with their unique needs given the context as well as be equipped to effect change in education.

So far I have found only five or six master's programs that look suitable. Suggestions?
