  • Are These Run-On Sentences?

    Hello, I have a couple of sentences, and I am wondering if they are run-on. If so, what are the best revisions to be made? I know that I can use a semicolon to separate it into two, but is there any way to keep it one long sentence?

    Sentence 1.

    People were no longer at liberty to share resources freely, and thus the idea of private property was born which was a seed of evil that gave birth to egotism, theft, greed and jealousy.

    Sentence 2:

    People fought for better soil, and whoever owned better land became rich and thus social hierarchy was born.
