Can I copy ordinary files to an audio CD?
I have an assignment due in, and it has to be on a CD due to the assignment being on CAD software. Can I just use an ordinary audio CD? And copy the files over from my documents to the audio CD in My computer?
Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoHDD failure....logic board or completely beyond repair?!?
Hi people,
My HDD in my laptop refused to spin up when i booted up my laptop.
When trying to run HDD test, it tells me no IDE is detected.
I've read that components can become stuck, usually due to a slight knock. However, coupled with the fact I can't recall it being knocked, the noises it is making do not sound like it is physically "stuck". The noises sound electrical....sort of like that sound your TV or radio makes when your mobile phone is recieving a call or text.
I have tried freezing the HDD, with no luck.
Is it worth replacing the logic board with one from the same hardrive and firmware?
Or does it sound as if something much more serious within the HDD is broken??
Thankyou very much!
4 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoHDD or Motherboard dead on 6month old Compaq CQ50 Laptop. Recovery possible?!?!?!?
Hey people.
The other day i used my laptop, then put it to sleep and then lifted the lid to use it again 15mins later.
Instead of the windows welcome screen I got a blank black screen.
Rebooted and the Compaq splash screen appeared and the laptop stuck on that and became unresponsive.
I have followed all of HP's help pages.... removing all USB devices etc, removing the battery, reseating the memory, testing the memory individually, and running the "primary hard disc test", in which the test status read "No IDE Device".
During numerous attempts at rebooting, only ONE time did an error message appear, which read " No bootable partition in table"
Annoyingly, I haven't backed anything up and the tech guys said it is very likely to be the HDD. And they "tested" it and said it was dead and not even spinning up. Apparently they cannot recover anything, and the only way now is to go proffesional which costs around £500 at the least. I am not going to pay this money, so may have to sacrifice all my uni work.
However is it likely the motherboard could be at fault??
A mate of mine had a similar problem and when he got a new HDD it still persisted.
Could I try putting my HDD in the freezer for 24hours or so and then trying it again?
Any help on this headache situation would be very much appreciated !!!
Thankyou.
