Ramadan Kareem everyone

This is my first Ramadan in the UK and it is long compared to what I'm used to. Fasting begins at 2:30 AM and ends at 9:30 PM. I have been feeling weak and out of focus lately, which is bad because I have a Master's dissertation to work on.

Are there any health tips, or tips in general, to help me get through Ramadan?

The verse says:

"And guard yourselves against a chastisement [fitna] which cannot fall exclusively on those of you who are wrong-doers, and know that Allah is severe in punishment."

What does the word fitna or chastisement here refer to exactly? If it means trial; then why would God chastise the just alongside with the wrong-doers?

I'm expected to start my full-year Master's program in Engineering next month. I have to complete 180 credit hours in a year, 60 for dissertation which leaves 120 credit hours for courses. In the first semester I will take up to 60 credit hours, 10 or 15 credit hours for each module. That's equivalent to how many classes a week per module?

According to Quran [5:5] "and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them."

Does this mean we could eat at Christian and Jewish restaurants in non-Muslim countries?

I'm going to England next month, to London and Sheffield in particular, and I want to know if halal food is readily available in restaurants and supermarkets. What are my options?

I have trouble understanding these three verses, could someone please explain

1. "It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land." [8:67]

2. "And those who disbelieved are allies of one another. If you do not do so, there will be fitnah on earth and great corruption." [8:73]

What does "if you do not do so" refer to in this verse?

3. "And those who afterwards believed and left their homes and strove along with you, they are of you; and those who are akin are nearer one to another in the ordinance of Allah. Lo! Allah is Knower of all things." [8:75]

What does this part of the verse refer to exactly? "and those who are akin are nearer one to another in the ordinance of Allah."

I noticed that questions asked on this section are getting stupider by the day. I also noticed that Muslims have little control over their lives, and they have no opinion whatsoever.

Questions like, is it haram to shower in Ramadan or to brush my teeth, is it haram to walk backwards, is it haram to watch a documentary, is it haram to enter the house with the left foot.. etc etc

I know people only mean good by asking these questions, but it doesn't give a good image about Islam and it only shows how dependent Muslims are.

Would Allah really punish you if you watched a documentary, or walked backwards? Does it make the least of sense? If you were a non-Muslim and saw all these questions you'd think of Islam as a religion that needs to control every second of people's lives.

And what's more important, if Muslims have no control over the way they walk then they don't have control over their life. They just follow the scholarly made up rules and they think they're holy. So what would be left of Muslims if all these rules suddenly disappeared? They'd be even more lost that they are now.

The Quran is clear, and the major sins are clear. Muslims should learn how to start controlling their own lives, rather than listening to the so-called scholars and the obviously fabricated portion (not all) of the hadith.

I need someone to explain this verse to me

"And (remember) when thy Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their reins/backs, their seed, and made them testify of themselves, (saying): Am I not your Lord? They said: Yea, verily. We testify. (That was) lest ye should say at the Day of Resurrection: Lo! of this we were unaware;"

1. Scientifically speaking, is this part correct: thy Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their reins/backs, their seed?

2. What is the testimony mentioned here?

I would appreciate it if logical answers were given.

verse [2:187] says

"eat and drink until the white thread becometh distinct to you from the black thread of the dawn. Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall"

Why do Muslims, Sunnis in particular, break the fast at sunset when it clearly says nightfall here?

What are your views on the month of Ramadan?

I read on a blog that Quranists believe fasting is only required for three days, and it has nothing to do with abstaining from food and drinks. According to them fasting means to isolate oneself from the world and not to speak to anyone.

Is this what you truly believe?

I heard that scholars link it to usury (riba). Can someone explain why?

In some Quranic verses Allah swt says that the dwellers of heaven and hell, and those in between, will converse with each other.

For example:

"And the dwellers on the Heights call unto men whom they know by their marks, (saying): What did your multitude and that in which ye took your pride avail you?" [7:48]

"And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, "Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allah has provided you." They will say, "Indeed, Allah has forbidden them both to the disbelievers." [7:50]

Could this mean that the punishment of those in hell would not be as harsh as perceived since they're able to talk and negotiate?

their private parts became apparent to them [7:22], why is that?

Also, it says in verse [7:20]

"But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts."

I don't understand the morale of this story. How is misguidance related to private parts?

'He (Satan) said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path.' [7:16]

Does this mean that Allah swt drove Satan astray and into disobedience so that in return he can do the same to us?

Does Allah swt want us to be in error?

I've come across many verses in the Quran that are similar to this one:

Whomever Allah wills - He leaves astray; and whomever He wills - He puts him on a straight path. [6:39]

If Allah swt decides to leave some people astray, how is it fair that these people should go to hell?

I came across the verse that mentions polygamy in the Quran the other day and I noticed something, the verse says:

"And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans, then marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice." [4:3]

It shows in the verse that there's a special case where polygamy is allowed..

"And IF ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans, THEN marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four".. There's also a condition that should be met and that is to treat all wives justly..

Could it be that polygamy is only allowed for the sake of taking care of widows and orphans?

Also, how to reconcile between the above mentioned verse and

Ye will not be able to deal equally between (your) wives, however much ye wish (to do so). But turn not altogether away (from one), leaving her as in suspense. If ye do good and keep from evil, lo! Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful. [3:129]
