How to deal with my stubborn step-mom?
My dad and step-mom moved in with my boyfriend and I because their house burned down from a fire. They've lost most of their belongings but were able to make it out safe. We really felt bad and wanted to help them so we offered them to stay at our apartment until they can sort things out and find a new place.
Things were going great until my step-mom turned into the guest from hell!
When she gets upset, she slams doors and screams really loud. I've asked her countless times to please be quiet but she just ignores what I have to say and continues to scream and slam doors, pots, pans, anything really. She yells when she argues with my dad on a daily basis. When she watches t.v. she blasts the volume up and when I ask her nicely to turn it down explaining to her that our neighbors are sleeping or my boyfriend has to sleep for work.. she turns the volume down, but then turns it back up when I leave. She doesn't work so my dad has been trying to save up money so that when they find a nice place, he'll have enough for them to move out of our place quickly but lately she's been spending all of his money on these fabulous shopping sprees. You'd think that a tragedy such as a fire would make someone appreciate the basics, like a roof over your head, but NOPE.
These are just SOME of the incidents that I've gone through with her and she just won't show us any respect. I've never done anything to her, nor has my boyfriend. To be honest we're not really that close to her at all.
I'm honestly frustrated and scared of getting kicked out because at this point, I'm pretty sure our neighbors hate us. Talking to her nicely just doesn't work because she'll okay, "Oh, okay." and then when our backs are turned, she'll continue to do things her way. What can I do to get her to stop being so loud and rude?
4 AnswersFamily1 decade agoReceived a Judgment letter from court! Don't know what it means?
A few months ago, I was sued by my electric company (the reason is a long and complicated story). I was summoned to court but decided to settle beforehand by calling the company and we agreed on payment arrangements. They told me since I've decided to pay, I didn't have to show up to court.
Ever since then, I've been paying everything on time. Then, all of a sudden, I received a letter from the court that reads, "A Judgment for money is granted in favor of the creditor (the electric company) against debtor (me)." There's a list of the amount of money I owed and a bunch of fees adding up to the total under that.
What does this letter actually mean? Am I required to do anything from this point on? Or do I just keep the letter and continue paying the bill as arranged? I've never received a letter like this before and have no real legal knowledge. Anyone that can provide ANYTHING will help! Thank you!!
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago*Black Friday 2009 ??*?
I know Black Friday 2009 is still about a month away, but last year I wasn't prepared for it and this year I won't make the same mistake again! lol
Anyways, I know that Best Buy gives out those ticket vouchers for those who wait out in line, and I know that if you want "big ticket items" like laptops or tvs, then you definitely need a ticket voucher.
BUT are there any other stores that give out ticket vouchers like Best Buy's as well?
