Horrible anxiety about internship/ summer job?
i'm a college student currently searching for summer positions in the computer field and i'm terrified. mainly because i've never had a paying job before but i've volunteered. never having a job combined with being rejected for entry level jobs in the past due to lack of experience really makes my anxiety much worse
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment6 years agoNERVOUS about computer internships/jobs?
I'm a college student looking for an internship/job in my field but I'm nervous because I know how to do things like programming and creating networks, I just don't remember all the commands off the top of my head since I'm studying other classes at the moment. I don't know why but I'm just paranoid about it
1 AnswerTechnology6 years agohow do I make a little money NOW(10 points)?
long story short I'm in college and with only volunteer experience. I hope interning in the summer but between now and the summer I just want a little money for once. and before you say "apply to a job" no place is gonna want a worker for less than two months. can't sell plasma or blood because the banks aren't nearby

I know there's a download option when you click on a picture, but is it actually legal to download it for personal use?

I've always wondered that
4 AnswersMilitary6 years agoShould I do a summer internship or get a minimum wage job?(10 points please help)?
long story short:
1.i am a college senior(although I have at least one more year)
2. I've never had a PAYING job(lack of experience and no luck)
3.I have volunteer experience(17 hours and counting)
4.my major DOESN'T require an internship, although experience wouldn't hurt
5.I'm reapplying to two summer DMV jobs in my major(computers), but nervous I won't get them like last year
SUMMARY:
I don't know whether to get (possibly) unpaid experience in my major, or make money not in my major for the summer

1 AnswerPolls & Surveys6 years agohow long do i have to volunteer before i can use it as experience?
i heard it's 6months
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys6 years agoif i do an internship the summer AFTER i graduate, will I still have to pay back loans after 6 months?
just curious
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys6 years agodo you believe the american dream is dead? why or why not?
i dont think it's dead, just on life support because it seems like now its getting harder and harder to support yourself. people(like myself) are taking out loans to get a degree for a job they MIGHT get. and even IF they find a job they have to pay back the loans for years and years

2 AnswersCommunity Service6 years agoWhy do I have to work FOR FREE for A YEAR just to work for minimum wage?
Long story short: i'm in college with zero work experience. couldn't land a job before the holidays now im stuck volunteering because alot of jobs want people with at least 1 year of experience. my question is am i going to have to work FOR FREE for an ENTIRE YEAR just to work as a cashier etc.?
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoVolunteer for a year just to be able to earn minimum wage?
a lot of applications for low jobs say at least 1 year of experience wanted and i have none. so i have to volunteer(aka work for free) for a whole year just to be able to earn minimum wage????? I have no problem helping the community, but an entire year just to make minimum wage????? i'm a full time college student just trying to pay for his own things.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agodo you think "you need a job to get a job" is fair and why?
imo it's EXTREMELY unfair. i mean in that case how are the unemployed supposed to get back into the work force? it's the same as telling somone they need to own a car to have a car
6 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoWhy do I have to work for free, in order to be able to work for minimum wage?
I've just turned 21 and have no work experience(don't judge me I've been trying since I was 19). the past few months I've been trying to get a LOW job like cashier etc. I've been rejected from all of them. I only got ONE interview last week and said I did SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE, but my interviewer said "....but you have no PAID experience?" and SURPRISE! I didn't get the job. Now people keep telling me to volunteer and I have no problem with that, but for how long? do I have to work like 3 months for free to be able to work for minimum wage?
7 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agowhy do employers want prior experience for LOW level jobs like cashiers?
I am 21 with no work experience(don't judge me.....), but I have been trying for 2 years to get a job. I keep applying and talking to managers, but the applications constantly say they want someone with AT LEAST 1 year of cashier/retail experience. I still apply, but if someone applies with said experience, BAM! I'm out of the race. last week I had my first CASHIER interview for a store and the interviewer asked "do you have any PAID experience?" and SUPRISE! I didn't get it

2 AnswersTechnology6 years agois volunteering REALLY considered experience?
I'm asking because in an interview for cashier I said: "I once did community service" thinking it would help but the interviewer asked "....but no PAID experience?" so I sighed then said no. and SUPRISE! SUPRISE! I didn't get the job..............
7 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoPLEASE HELP ME, terrified of career fair?
I'm a senior college student going to his first career fair(my major is Computer Engineering Technology) in 9 days hoping for an internship and i'm terrified out of my mind! so terrified that it's all I've been thinking about for days. here's my worries:
1.ZERO experience-I've been trying to get an entry level job but they want experience so I've tried to volunteer at a few places still turned down. now i'm TERRIFIED that all the employers won't want to talk to me since i'm almost 21 with ZERO work experience.
2.transportation-what if the internship is more than a 10 minute drive away? I have a license but i don't have FULL availability to a car
3.Computer skills- I have computer skills but i need a little refreshing on some skills. for example I have knowledge of networking, but i don't know off the top of my head ALL of the EXACT commands(i.e to change router security, disable a VLAN)
I'm terrified that if i don't know EVERYTHING of a particular computer skill, the employers won't want to talk to me
4.never done an internship-I have serious paranoia about what an internship will even be like. in my paranoid mind, it's gonna be super hard and i keep doubting whether or not ill do a good job.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhat places will hire a person WITHOUT any experience?
i'm 20 and have never had a job. i'm having trouble getting a low paying job because they either want someone with experience, or they're not hiring. i even tried to volunteer at a soup kitchen DOWN THE STREET, but was never called back. I know people say "VOLUNTEER VOLUNTEER!" but i dont want to work for like 6 months straight for free. right now even 3 bucks an hour would be fine with me.
