  • My mom takes my 2 year old's temper tantrums personally and its driving me crazy?

My daughter is 2 and she's discovered the art of the temper tantrum. She throws fits just because she can. From what I understand, its completely normal for her age. Yesterday, my mom wanted to take my daughter out running errands with her because she had some extra money and wanted to buy her a toy from Wal-Mart. My daughter started crying and didn't want to leave the house (something she frequently does here lately, but once she gets in the car and gets going she's fine). My mom got really upset. I got my daughter calmed down and she said she wanted me to go too, so I asked my mom if that was okay and she said yes reluctantly. Well, when we got to Wal-Mart, my mom wouldn't look at my daughter, wouldn't speak to her, wouldn't take her out of her car seat, and took off walking into the store very quickly to get away from us and didn't even look back. This made me EXTREMELY mad. I tried to talk to her about it but she wouldn't admit she was wrong and refused to have the conversation with me. I'm just not sure what to do ... my daughter loves my mom and loves spending time with her but I feel like the way she responds to my daughter's bad behavior is wrong. Any advice?

  • A question about getting pregnant again after having my tubes tied?

I had my tubes tied in July of 2011. Last month (2 years later), I went to the doctor with what I thought was a very bad period only to find out that I was miscarrying. When I asked my doctor if I needed to use back-up birth control, he said no. This is not a doctor that I see regularly, but one that I had to see because it was an emergency situation. My question is -- if I could get pregnant once following my surgery, what are my chances that it could happen again? This doctor has been kind of vague and I have an appointment to see my regular gynecologist for a physical next month. But in the meantime, does anyone out there know what my chances of getting pregnant again are?

  • How do I deal with my anger towards my soon-to-be ex husband?

I get so angry because I don't feel like he puts enough effort into visiting our daughter. We don't have visitation set up through the courts, I have always just given him the option to visit her whenever he wants. He goes 2 weeks at a time without visiting and he never takes her for overnights. Then he'll show up for 3 hours and disappear for another 2 weeks. Granted, his drivers license has been revoked so he doesn't drive and has to rely on others for rides, but he doesn't seem to have any trouble getting rides to go anywhere else. I just get so angry because of this. Any other parents been through this situation? How did you deal with it?

  • Can my friend receive financial assistance through Social Services?

My best friend's husband lost his job a few months ago and recently got cut off from his unemployment benefits. She has one semester left in college. They have 2 children and 1 more on the way. Is she eligible for any type of welfare assistance, or is that just for single parents? We live in North Carolina.

  • My husband tells our mutual friends that I don't do anything?

My husband and I are separated. He barely visits our daughter and never takes her for overnights. He does pay child support that we agreed on, not court ordered. I work part time, I go to school full time, and I am basically a single mom. I do get help from my mom for child care, but that's it. It bothered that he would say I don't do anything, considering the situation. When i asked him about it, he says he meant that he made all the money. He does make more than me. But what might cause a man to say it that way?

  • My daughter's dentist said her teeth looked great 2 months ago?

She has had an ear infection and had a follow up with a nurse practitioner we don't usually see. The NP was looking in her mouth and said she has several cavaties forming. I'm confused because she doesn't eat more sweets than usual and I brush her teeth thoroughly twice a day. I've scheduled another dentist appointment, but I was wondering if it were possible for the condition of her teeth to change so quickly? She's 2 years old.

  • Can my babysitter be forced to give my child to her father while I'm not home?

My husband and I are separated and there is no custody order (I've only begun the whole process). If he showed up at my house while I'm at work, and the police were called, could my sitter be forced to let him take her?

My husband is an alcoholic and a drug addict and I don't trust him with my child. I know he has rights but I don't wasn't him driving her in a vehicle if he is drunk or high. Thank you.

  • My 2 year old has been throwing up and ...?

The Dr says she has an ear infection. Is it normal to have vomiting with an ear infection? She has never had one before and I was wondering if anyone else's little ones experienced this?

  • Divorced people: Did you date during separation?

My friends are constantly asking me when I'm ever going to go out with a guy. I wasn't planning to date until after I get divorced. There's a year long waiting period between separation and divorce in my state. But I just don't think I would feel right about it. What are your thoughts?

  • How can our landlords legally evict us?

My husband and I were informed by our landlords that we were being evicted because the utilities were not being paid. My husband called and informed them that the bills were paid in full and we had the receipts to prove it. Our landlord replied, "Well, I just don't think its going to work out and you just need to find some other place to live." He refuses to even look at the receipts that will show he has no reason to evict us. They also say we are being evicted because they were still receiving mail at the rental property and we have not been delivering their mail to them or informing them that they had mail, although the lease never stated that this was our responsibility.

  • How can I surprise my husband without lying or seeming suspicious?

I want to surprise my husband with concert tickets. Not for an anniversary or a birthday, just an "I love you" present. The problem is that the tickets are fairly expensive, plus I want to reserve a room because it an all day concert and the venue is 3 hours away. I'm just not sure how to spend the money without making him suspicious, and I don't want to lie. If it were near a holiday or his birthday he would assume I was buying a gift, but this is completely unexpected. Any suggestions?

  • How can I encourage my 8 month old to crawl?

She pushes up on her hands and knees but she will only push herself backwards. She would rather roll to get where she wants to go. What can I do to help her learn?

Also, we have very hard tile floors in every room. Can this make a difference?

  • How do you deal with living together but not exactly being together?

Well, as most of you know, I thought I had this great fairy tale marriage, and apparently I was wrong. No cheating but other issues. I don't want to be together right now but we have to share a vehicle until tax time so the easiest way to do that is to live together. But its hard. Anyone been in a similar situation? How do you deal?

  • Why would a person continue to seek attention from someone who clearly doesn't care very much about them?

I don't mean in a romantic sense. I mean from a same sex acquaintance.

If a person is married, has a family, is successful, and has a great circle of friends, why would they constantly try to gain this person's attention or approval?

  • Am I wrong for feeling upset?

My husband is on the last day of a 4 day weekend from work. Yesterday he was in some pain (he had a little too much to drink at a family barbecue and hurt his back because he fell). I let him lay around the house, he only had to get up to go to the bathroom ... I brought him food, drinks, turned movies on for him, etc, all while taking care of our baby daughter.

This morning I woke up sick with a fever and he isn't even attempting to get up and help. I don't expect him to wait on me hand and foot. I just thought we could work together and give each other breaks since we both aren't feeling well. Am I really asking too much?

  • How should I handle this situation with my mother in law?

My husband and I have both explained this to her several times over: because people smoke inside of her home, we don't feel comfortable bringing our 4 month old over there. She is more than welcome to visit her grand daughter at our home anytime. She chooses not to visit, yet she tells everyone that I'm keeping the baby away from her.

My husband has been telling her to come visit, but she refuses. Should I say anything, or keep my big mouth shut?

  • How do/did you & your spouse share care of a young child?

My daughter is 4 months old. I stay home with her & take online classes. My husband works, very hard. When he gets home, he takes a shower, relaxes with a beer, and then usually watches her while I cook dinner and wash dishes. Then I watch her the rest of the evening. I know he has a hard job, but its getting difficult because I barely have a moment for myself. After she goes to bed, its homework. Then it starts all over again. Any parents out there have any suggestions for me?

  • Does trying to convince someone they're in a bad relationship EVER work?

My sister has two kids by a guy who is always going to hold her back and never contribute. Now he is threatening to leave if she uses birth control because he wanted a big family. The kids are less than a year apart and they can't afford any more on her salary alone. Is there any point in trying to convince her to just let him leave?
