  • u/s conception date off by 6 days?

We had sex on Sept 19 and 20 (hoping I would ovulate anywhere between Sept 19-21). I had a positive HPT on Oct 13. Two u/s done on Oct 18 and Oct 30 indicate that I conceived on Oct 26. It is possible that I ovulated really late this cycle (I have 28-31 day cycle with an occasional longer one), but I had no idea that sperms could survive for 5-6 days. My preganancy is otherwise fine. I have constipation, gas and bloating, tiredness and mild nausea. Anyone has similar story to share? Did everything turn out alright with the pregnancy and baby.

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

ps: My preganancy is otherwise fine. I have constipation, gas and bloating, tiredness and mild nausea. My first pregnancy was mostly uneventful and we have a healthy 3 year old right now.

  • 18 month old is teething and refusing to eat. help.?

My son, 18 month old has 6 teeth. Now he is going to get 8 more (swollen gums and i can feel the teeth just below the surface). He wakes up crying sometimes (oragel and iburofen) and refuses to eat. he has eaten two good dinners in 5 days. he eats some lunch at daycare., I am told. He is otherwise healthy and happy. I do not know what to do to help him eat while he is teething. this process may last for weeks and I would like him to eat something if not a whole dinner. If you mom or dads have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks.

My son loves oranges, pasta, lentil soup and rice, potatoes, peas, corn and chicken when he is in a good mood.

  • 15 month old leaves out part of the word. is that normal at this age?

My 15 month old says 20 or so words such as mommy, ba-ba, bird etc. For the rest he leaves part of the word such he says "mote for remote", bow for ball, no for nose, wa for water, ap for apple etc. He has also invented new words such as "aabu" for fruits which he loves. He understands a lot more words and follow a few directions such as fetching ball, remote, phone, sippy cup etc.

I was wondering if it normal for little boys at this age not to be able to say all the syllables in a word. Let me know your experience with toddlers. Thanks.

  • advice on flying with my 13 month old?

This will be the first flight for my son. We are flying from East coast to West Coast which includes connection. I have several questions.

    1. How much extra time do we need to go through security, we would have a few bottles of formula/whole milk for the ride as well as some packaged liquid formula from similac.

    2. I was told by Delta that we can check in one piece of luggage free for the baby. what about the stroller, can we check that in for free, too or do we can check at the entrance of the airplane (valet)

    3. Do we have to take the car seat with us?

we were planning to use public transport in San Francisco as much as possible and avoid the taxi or cars. Is it illegal to be in a short taxi ride with a toddler without car seat?

  • constipation due to whole milk?

My son is 1year 1week old. We started to mix whole milk in our son's formula (4oz of formula and 1oz of WM) about three weeks ago. We realized that he was constipated about a week later but did not realize that WM could be the reason as he has been having lots of new food at home and daycare. His stools were very hard and he would cry while pooping. He was given miralax by the physician to try half the dose every other day. That seems to have helped to soften the stool some but I do not like the idea of using it on regular basis. I was hoping that he would get used to the whole milk in 3 weeks but that does not seem to have happened.

Was anyone else in this situation and what did you try? Thanks.

  • dinner ideas for 11 month old?

Hi. My son is just shy of 11 months. He is tall for his age (32 inches, 21 lbs 95 percentile length, 41 percentile weight), healthy and very active all day. He used to drink 24-26oz of BM/formula but it is more like 22oz now. For last two weeks or so, he is always hungry. He does not want to drink milk in the evening/night nor does he like jar food that he gets at daycare. He likes table food. We feed him about 1-2 tablespoon of lentil soup or chicken and potatoes (and mac and cheese with peas sometimes)till he has had enough. He has his dinner at 6:30 pm or so but he is hungry again by 7:30-8pm when we are having our dinner and eats some more with us (he goes to sleep right after). I need more ideas for dinner from other moms which would be healthy and fun for him.

I am guessing all babies go through this switch from milk to solids at some point of time. Let me know how best to handle it.

    Thanks a ton.

  • when is a baby ready to eat with a spoon?

My son is almost 10 months old. He has been eating solids since he was over 4 months. For the past two months he has cereal and fruit for BF vegetable mush or meat for lunch and lentil soup with oatmeal for dinner. In addition he has 26-28 oz of BM/formula.

He is fed with a spoon at the daycare or home. He always tries to get the spoon and bowl by himself but gets most of the food on himself that in his mouth (he does okay with cheerios or pieces of bread etc). I usually feed him mush/ small chunks myself and let him try the spoon towards the end. My question is when do I let him have it all by himself? Is it too early?

If you have any suggestions, let me know.

    Thanks

  • international travel; mom with a 15 month old?

I am considering visiting friend and some family in India with my infant who would be a toddler (15 month old) then...summer of 2011. The flight would be 15-16 hours plus getting to and from from the airport at both ends. My husband is not likely to make it, so I would be on my own. I want to know if other moms have done it and what their experiences were.

What can I do to not make it a disaster. I want us to reach there in One piece and without losing my mind, my son or our luggage. what are the essentials that I pack? Any tips you may have would be useful. Thanks.

  • Pl suggest toys or activities for an 8 month boy?

My son will turn 8 months old in a few days. He has had a bouncy chair, play mat, books and variety of soft toys at home. He also likes to play with cell phone and TV remote as well as being shown colorful books. He has a jumperoo and lots of toys at the daycare. I am wondering if I should get a jumperoo for the weekend (at home). Does he need a swing?

What other toys would be stimulating for him for the coming months and year. If you have a suggestion, do let me know. My son likes playing with us, so I and my husband spend a lot of time going out for walks, swinging him around, singing and reading him books. What else should be fun for him?

Any suggestions you may have are welcome.

    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

  • first period after baby's birth?

Hi all. I gave birth over 5 months ago. I breastfeed and pump everyday. For the last 6 weeks and so, I have had a lot of vaginal discharge. Sometimes I feel back cramps as if my period is about to start but no sign of it yet. I am scared when I wear whites. I wish it would start sooner than later.

When did other moms start their periods after giving birth what is the average time?

    Thanks

  • is my baby cold at night?

My 5 month old son was a little fussy early (3am) in the morning. He was making little sounds (not opening his eyes) but he was not hungry. When I held him to my body, he became quite and went to sleep. The night time temp is dropping here to low 60 here in NC. I was wondering if he was cold (although he is covered from neck to toes as usual) and need more layers. My other concern was if he has tummy ache of some kind. He has fewer poopy diapers since he started eating solids once a days and sometimes passes gas which is smelly. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • supplementing while breastfeeding?

    Hi moms,

My son is almost five months old. I am slowly losing my milk and need to supplement about 15-20% of what he needs everyday. Is that normal at 5 months? What is the best formula in your opinion for supplementation? We have started giving him some made from scratch solid food. We have tried mashed sweet potatoes with milk, banana, baby carrots and grapes. Though he likes to eat, we do not give him more than half to 1 tbsp of these. I am not sure if we can give him solids twice a day since he does not suffer from constipation.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • 40 week today; what can I do?

I am due with my first baby today. I lost my mucus plug 11 days ago. I was dilated 1cm and 70% effaced last week. I have been having constant back pain and pain and pressure in the lower part of the uterus since I lost my mucus plug. The pain gets worse at night when lying down and I was given vicodin for the times when pain was unbearable. I have been taking it some nights.

I have been walking 2-4 miles a day but have had no contractions.

I have to visit my OB this afternoon. I am not sure what to expect. I guess she would check for dilation, effacement and baby's position in the pelvis. Are we going to have a chat about possible induction if things do not progress. What should I be asking? I would like to go into labor naturally but can not take the terrible nighttime pain and cramping for too long. Besides I am concerned about having too big a baby for my petite body (5feet 2" and 104 lb and have gained 27 lb so far).

Suggestions and pointers are welcome. Thanks.

  • 39 weeks pregnant; constant back pain and cramps at night?

I am 38 weeks and 6 days today. I lost my mucous plug over last week. I got checked by my OB 4 days ago and was told that I was 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. My next appointment is in 3 days. I have been having bad cramps in lower back every night while I try to sleep on the side (left or right). Last night my cramps were pretty bad and my husband had to keep rubbing there. I feel better when I sit up and much better if I stand. I do not get tightening and release in my uterus which was described as true contractions to me. I was wondering if nighttime or daytime cramping happened to anybody after losing their mucous plug and while they were waiting for labor to begin.

    Thanks.

  • going into labor at 38w2d?

I started losing my mucus plug last night. I had severe back cramps all night and could barely sleep. I saw my OB this morning who said that I am 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. My baby is also moved lower but not all the way. His movement are less than usual (he is a kicker;). My OB thinks that cramps are due to dilation and I should expect my labor as early as tonight or it could take till next week.

Based on all the Q&A on YA, I understand that there is no fixed time of progresssing to labor from here. But, I would to know your experience and if you have any suggestions on how to nudge my body to get there this weekend. I am so distracted right now I can not focus on work. I can not wait to see, kiss and hold our first baby.

Thanks and good luck to everyone who is waiting to go into labor.

  • 37 weeks; no contractions and too much baby activity?

Hi. I am 37 weeks today and have not felt a single contraction so far. I have never felt even a Braxton Hicks contraction. All I feel is backache and sometimes cramps. Is that normal?

At my 36w1d check, my OB said that my cervix was beginning to soften. I suppose that means that I would begin to dilate soon.

My baby is active most of the day and night and I am unable to get good sleep. I am so exhausted most days that it takes all my willpower to go to work everyday. do not know how to go through thses last feww weeks. Any suggestions or experience is welcome.

    Thanks.

  • very tired at 33 weeks. what can I do?

I am 33+ weeks and have gained 22 lbs so far. for the last few days I get so tired. I can not get all the work done that I could easily do earlier. I started taking extra iron two days ago but that has not helped.

I am having trouble getting good sleep when the baby seems to be moving all night.

Is it going to remain this way through birth? Is there anything I can do to get more energy?

    Thanks in advance for help.

  • baby shower help needed?

    Hi everyone.

I am 29 weeks and getting a baby shower from my friends and colleagues and another from my hubby's friends in a few weeks. We have created registry at BuyBuy Baby, Baby'sRUs and Target. We were thinking of sending a email invite with link to our baby registry.

Showers are being held at friends' place a few miles from where we live. My question is do I need to get food and/or small gifts for those who come. What is the best way to let them know we appreciate their help and best wishes?

All ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

  • baby registry help needed?

    Hi everyone.

Happy new year to all moms moms to be and ttc.

We are going to be first time parents at the end of March. We are having one baby shower in the first week of February and another one shortly before or after. We need to have a baby registry up and running most likely at Target and Baby's R Us. We need to make a wish list of things we want from those stores. So far we only have a port a crib, some cloths, bibs and towels. We know we need a car seat, stroller and diapers. We have decided to wait till after the shower to buy them. What are the other essential and not so essential stuff that we can put in the registry ? Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

    Thanks!
