I'm sure there are contractual limits and bargaining agreements, but are there any state or federal laws in the US that would prevent an employer from bringing discipline after a certain period of time has passed?

My employer has strict guidelines that HR typically uses to filter out applicants for advancement in our department. Long story short, if you don't meet a "minimum requirement" for service in a particular position (certain time in a position), you cannot advance to a position with greater responsibility and pay.

In the past when co-workers and I have applied for positions for which we did not qualify we were not permitted even to interview by HR, even if we were within a few months of qualifying.

Now, a co-worker has been promoted three "steps" in spite of having lower seniority and not being nearly as close to the "minimum requirement," being actually years under the "minimum." Another coworker says he has brought similar issues to HR and the union in the past but nothing is done. Is there any recourse that can help me at least be considered for these positions for which I don't "qualify?" Doesn't this set a precedent? Help is appreciated.

If it is turning wouldn't it wear through whatever is resting on it?

I have a tracfone (if that matters) and it takes me a long time to type text messages. Last night I spent about 2 hours trying to type something out - which the phone sent in 13 parts - and I watched it go from 0 of 13 sent to 13 of 13 sent. This morning, having not received an answer I checked the "Sentbox" and "Drafts" tab, but the last message is one sent Friday morning. Where are my messages? Is it possible they'll only show after being received/opened? Is there a way to retrieve them? I really don't want to spend another 2 hours trying to rewrite what I already wrote and SENT!

Recently Firefox and Chrome have been acting really weird. Tons of weird ads on the sides and bottom of pages, pop-ups, and pages that won't close. I installed Ad Block on Chrome and the odd ads have lessened, but they return after a few days and I have to "block element" and select them again. The pop-ups don't stop, they just create new tabs now. Is there a way to reset the internet to resolve the problem?

This guy keeps posting comments on videos I like, usually just stating lies about the video content. When I commented back (surprisingly calmly) on one occasion asking why, he got angry and accused me of wrong doing. I told him I disagreed and explained why, but never heard back. That was a week ago.

Today, he made a similar post on another video I liked and I asked him why, again. He ranted that I was a coward, he didn't have to explain himself, etc. He went on to say he had removed my previous comments a week before and would do so again, plus he would report me for "harassing" him and block me from replying again if I replied to his cray accusations again.

I normally wouldn't care, but if people only read his comments without seeing mine, i think it could give the wrong impression. Is there anything I can do to (at least) have my old comments restored? I received no notification from YT - I only know because he said he was doing it.

I remember a few years ago it was being tossed around as a possibility that the government would implement such a program where a person is guaranteed a set amount to sustain themselves. Does anyone have the name?

Last week I needed a date for a small event. I asked a coworker if her sister might go. We met the night of, and talked for about an hour. Much to my surprise, she really seemed into me. The way she smiled at me, I felt certain there was something here. Moreso, after we'd talked about her being too nervous to perform, I coaxed her into singing a song. She acted a bit shy, but eventually got half a bar out before she got all cute and flustered... Later she mentioned for the 2nd time that we ought date again next month. And finally, dropping her off she reached out to hug me, before I knew it.

I told her to contact me again which she did and she seemed genuinely excited to talk to me again.

Following that, I didn’t want to be forward, so I waited until Monday and I texted her asking when she’d be back in town so I could see her again – she left for school Sunday. Again she seemed excited to talk saying, “Thank you so much!! I’ll be back...!” I tried to match her level of enthusiasm with, “I wish you’d be back sooner, but I can’t wait to see you again!” This is where thing seem to have gone wrong. Rather than acknowledge my comment, she said nothing, but I didn't think much of it.

Yesterday, I texted her again. Trying to be lighthearted I asked: “What are you up to tonight? Still hanging around the bars? ;)” I assumed she’d understand it as joke, based on our conversation Friday.

Still, she hasn’t responded. What does this mean? What should I do?

If you call a business which states, "Your call is being recorded" at the beginning, is it legal to make your own recording without specifically announcing "This call will be recorded" as well? In theory both parties have already agreed to recording the conversation, you're essentially just making a copy. Is that right?

It uses a wireless router, but it seems like the problem is within the computer itself. The WLAN is on, but the internet connection shows an X. The troubleshooting report says:

"Issues found: Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy setting."

Under "Network and Sharing" the system doesn't show the typical PC-Network-Internet chain that usually appears. Instead it says "Unknown."

Can anyone help me?

How many people are going to sign the petitions (like this one: http://www.change.org/petitions/yahoo-br%E2%80%A6 and email MaynardWebb@yahoo-inc.com and MarissaMayer@yahoo-inc.com to bring back the old Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! site?

I've always wanted to move to Kentucky. I've save enough that we can relocate but I'd like to move to an area with people who share my general political beliefs - politics is important to me and I'd rather not fight constantly with my neighbors.

Long story short, I found my old "Wario World" game but I don't have the memory card, so I can't save and wind up playing the first three worlds over and over and over. I found "cheat codes" online, but most are written like this: "8UJT-B0JP-HVJ3T" and I have no idea how to enter that. Does anyone know? Can you explain it in simple terms for a novice like me?

I've been using the audio program "Audacity" for almost three years, but lately it won't allow me to export WAV files. I get an error message that reads:

I highly doubt my computer is full, because I have been regularly deleting larger files to clear up space for the past couple weeks, but it hasn't helped. Does anyone have any knowledgeable suggestions?

I tried watching the day of the service and in the days following but it would never work. Is there any site where the service or parts are available? Thank you in advance for the help.
