Is there a limit to how far you can go with a horror novel?
I'm writing a psychic horror novel in which a minor (13 years old) ALMOST gets raped by a worker at an orphanage (yet this fate does NOT befall our heroine, although it obviously scars her for life) prior to the awakening of a dark power that kills her attacker in the worst possible way. Would that trigger be considered taboo, even in the realm of ****** up dark fiction or horror? My main goal with this story is to illustrate a really messed up future America in a fictional urban setting.
Obviously, I'm not used to this particular genre of writing, so all helpful constructive criticism is welcome. Calling me a closet pedophile is not considered helpful, and when I mention stories like this, people often give me **** like that.

It involved you walking around a hospital, and it was in first-person. You learned about the human body, and you could even walk around the parking lot, too.

The show was set in a classroom, and the teacher wore a drivers cap. There was also a movie based on this, in which he goes to a different school and has to teach kids who are having MAJOR difficulties, including a bully who refuses to believe he knows anything about math until the the teacher calls him out on it when the bully is telling another kid how much he owes the bully, and says: "See. You CAN do math." to which the bully replies: "Oh, yeah... I guess you're right, teach."
