Hi,

I m a beginner in biking. I started this summer (at the age of 21, so pretty late into the game) and so far can only bike around in a fairly flat and small parking lot, can turn and change speeds, etc. but don t have a lot of precision. I also cannot do street biking (uneven sidewalks and dangerous/narrow car lanes) and have no idea about biking rules. I was wondering how to best improve on my riding skills without a teacher (nobody I know would have the time to do this). I live in Philadelphia so it s pretty hard to find a large, vacant place to practice.

I have been thinking about going on the Schuylkill trail but heard that there might be a lot of traffic and I m not confident enough to bike without ramming into somebody.

If possible, please give me an idea of what steps I should take to improve enough for recreational and street biking. And if you know enough about Philadelphia, do suggest possible practice locations.

I am flying overseas and the backpack I am planning to bring as a carry on is a bit bigger in thickness (the airline said 9 inches but mine is about 9.5). The other two dimensions fit the requirement. I know I will not stuff it to the max, so if I press it down, it will comply with the thickness limit. I was wondering how the TSA measure the bag in this case. Would they measure the thickness when I press it down or when it is in its resting state (there are little front pockets that budge out even when there is nothing inside.

I will be going to Hakodate, Hokkaido for 2 months in the summer. I was wondering if:

1) people usually go to the beach in the summer there?

2) there are any other occasions in which I would need a swimsuit?

3) is it better to buy a swimsuit there? Considering that I'm leaning towards more conservative swimsuits like a one piece or swimdress, will there be stores in the city that carry a variety of styles?

My mother acquired her citizenship last year, one month before I turn 18. However, now that I'm over 18, am I considered a citizen? I have not apply for a citizenship certificate, should I? Am I considered a citizen even though I haven't apply for the certificate?

For the past year or so I keep feeling like I smell tobacco or some kind of smoke, but nobody can smell it. I thought it must be because I'm more sensitive to smoke and such and haven't pay any attention to it. But I heard my teacher said that if you smell something that isn't there you may have a brain tumor. Now I'm kind of nervous about it. I haven't experience headaches or other symptoms of brain tumor so far, but I'm still really scared. Should I go check?

I like watching hong kong movies on PPS but I don't understand Mandarin. I know that you can watch them in Cantonese, but I don't know how to find it. Is there any way I can find all the movies that are available in canto all at once? Or is there any indication that a movie is in cantonese (for example, do they tell you in the movie title?)

my pc (windows xp) is connected to the tv. I've been doing this for quite a while and it worked fine, however, today I turn them on after not using them for a while and it doesn't work. The computer setting is 800x600 like before and the settings are left the same, but for some reason it says "not support" in the tv screen. How do I fix this?

I have an intel-based iMac snow leopard and I can't seem to turn it off. Every time I try to quit everything and click on the shut down option the bar at the top (the one with the apple symbol) would disappear but it doesn't turn off. I can still go on other applications, except trash and Finder (it shows a 10810 error!!!). Now I'm too afraid to forcibly turn off my mac. Please help!!! What is the easiest way to fix this problem?

I want to install Step Mania in my USB so I could play it on my cousin's computer without having to install it into someone else's comp. Is it even possible, if so, how would you do that on a mac?

I like sad, emotional piano pieces, my favorite is Poem for Everyone's Soul from Persona 3. However, my hand can't reach an octave so I can't play it T_T

So now I'm looking for some other songs that are not too hard, sounds nice and sad, and there isn't any part that need me to reach an octave high. It would help if you post a site where I can get the sheet music

I heard my friend said that it can ruin a computer if you plug it straight to the wall, I have an iMac 21.5" and I wonder if it can stand the wall plug.

What I want to know is is it okay not to have an outlet protector and instead just plug the comp straight to the wall?

I've been wondering about this for a while. My friends and classmates keep telling me that I have no life just because I rarely get out of the house, is a couch potato+nerd, refuse to exercise and love to play video games. Everyone thinks that "having a life" means that they have to go out and socialize with friends. I think to myself that many of the people who think "they have a life" are people who may suffer either one, several, or all of the problems listed below:

1. don't actually know the real meaning of life themselves

2. detest the fact that someone doesn't like the same thing they do

3. never actually think seriously about their future

4. incompetent

5. self-centered

6. think little of nothing else

7. inconsiderate, as they often say other people "have no life"

8. may be one of those who were told that he/she has no life, and decided to go with the flow and act like he/she "has a life"

There is many ideas of what life is all about, and not everyone agree on the same thing. I think that life is all about living happy and be able to live freely without restriction. If so, aren't people like me and many different people have their own lives? I think that I am the happiest being by myself, in my own house and play video games or enjoy music. If I am happy with my current life, doesn't that also mean I "have a life"? If those people who think they "have a life" believe that others "don't have a life" just because they have a different way of enjoy their lives, isn't that the same as not having a life?

Conclusion, don't judge people just because they are different that you are, period.

yesterday I've started to develop an itchy sensation in my throat that makes me cough every so often. I usually get something like that several times every year, but since swine flu is threatening everyone, I just wanted to make sure that I'm okay.

I only cough because my throat is itchy and no other swine flu symptoms like fever, runny nose, headaches.... have occurred. I suspect that my coughing have something to do with the weather and my food (I walked in the rain for several minutes cuz I didn't brought my umbrella and I ate a lot of ice cream before I start having the cough)

I'm playing Harvest Moon DS Cute using my Cyclods flash cart and I'm on my second year. Anyway, when I was in the 3rd mine, I dropped down quite a few levels and I got to a place where there is a huge rock blocking the way. I know that I have to kill all black mine animals before the rock can disappear, but I don't want to drop to another level by accident, so I saved my game before I do anything. And after I saved, I killed some mine creatures and (accidentally) drop down to another level, which is fine because I can load back to the level I saved. But when I tried to load, the whole game freezes and it's been continue like that forever. I turned off my DS and reload the game again and it still freezes. I don't know how to solve the problem and I don't want to start all over again (I already married to Skye after so much hard work T_T) If anyone know how to solve it please help, sorry for the long explanation.

I wanted to use a Japanese English dictionary online so I can play some Japan-only games; however, the Japanese characters on the website were read as a bunch of weird computer signs. I wanted to see the characters, is there any FREE programs that I can download on my computer to enable me to see (and type) Japanese characters?

Note: I've use Firefox and I tried View>Character Encoding>More Encoding>East Asian> Japanese and it doesn't work at all.

I'm in chapter 5 now and I have only 5 days left until the tournament, I showed Anwar a bunch of stuffs that he likes and I got him to about 2900/ 5000 and I think I've experience 2 love events with him already.
