  • Missouri resident. Do I pay taxes on the SSN death benefits my children receive from their father's passing?

letter I received says I have to pay taxes if married and income is over $35,000. But is that for me or for them (both minors)? Do I have to file taxes for them?

  • Does he need my signature to sell the marital home?

The divorce was final in October 08 and I let him keep the house. I've given him quit claim deeds signed and notarized several times however he refuses to go file them and says he just throws them away. I was never on the mortgage, just on the deed. Well now the house is under contract and I'm assuming set to close (he shares no information with me) and as of county records yesterday I'm STILL on the deed.

    So here's the questions -

    1. It's in the martial settlement agreement that he gets the house but since he never took my name off, am I going to have to go in and sign?

    2. If he really didn't throw away the quit claim deeds I've given, can he take that to closing or does he actually have to go file them?

Now that we are divorced, he is using an obniouxious amount of my txt messages with one letter messages just to be vindictive. I called my service provider and they said it's a setting I have to turn off in yahoo but I can't find it. HELP!

Let me be clear - he is NOT sending yahoo im to my yahoo IM on my phone - he is sending Yahoo IM from his computer to my phone as a text message..charging me for every one!

  • Should I keep my wedding dress from my 1st marriage?

My divorce was quick but a long time coming. I filed in Aug 08 and it was finalized in October 08. Same "he did me wrong" story after 12 years of marriage and 2 kids (one daughter) as everyone else. I want to make sure I don't make a decision in haste. So should I get rid of my wedding dress. We do share a daughter, but seriously, if my mom would have had her wedding dress, I wouldn't have worn it. I wanted one of my own that was trendy with the times. What else am I going to do with it? I could really use the money if I sold it. I had it nicely preserved in a box. I don't know, what do you all think?

  • What state do I need to contact to get my lost title reissued?

I bought my truck in Missouri but then licensed and registered my truck in Texas. I'm now back in Missouri and my plates are about to expire. I cannot find the title and really I can't remember if I ever had it (they changed the law and you used to not be able to get the title unless there was no lien on the vehicle - now, when you get a new car, you get the title and I bought my truck right during the transition). Anyway, should I contact Texas to try and get the title issued or Missouri?

    Thanks - I hope I'm making sense.

  • Developmental appropriateness of Smartboards?

In my school, our 3rd - 5th grade classrooms have Smartboards. The school is considering putting Smartboards in the primary classrooms. However, there has been much debate about the appropriatness of Smartboards in K-2 classrooms. I call it the Manipulatives vs. Manipulate debate. Any input?

  • Question about benefits of spinning?

My gym membership is expiring soon and I'm considering purchasing a spinning bike for my home. I typically follow a mini-tri training schedule for my workouts. I really enjoy the bike training training (low impact) portion. But if I'm going to be cutting out the ability to use the strength training equipment, I want to know if the spinning routines will maintain an overall body toneness (is that a word?)

My other concern is I have very "stout" legs. I do not want to really build muscle - don't need to - what I'd like to do is lean out my legs instead. My thighs could use some "fat trimming" that I just can't seem to work out enough to get rid of (mostly inner thighs).

So is this a wise purchse for me? Or should I just buy an elliptical/treadmill?

    Thanks

  • Opinions on my tattoo idea?

I was driving down the road today and saw a licence plate that said XXXYXX. I'm assuming they had a girl, boy, girl for children. And I thought, what a great idea for a tat! I have 3 tat's and am preparing for the next. All my tat's are related to my children so I love the idea of the XX and XY.

    1. Have you ever seen a tat like that before?

    2. What do you think of the idea?

    3. Any interesting font ideas? Color?

Here is 2 of my current tats?

  • Who's Now? Peyton Manning or Dale Jr.?

I was just flipping channels and caught a piece on ESPN Sports Center. They were having a discussion about "Who's Now" the better sports person. It's an audience vote situation. So come on, let's make our love of the sport known. Who's with me?

  • Why is there no cup race at Gateway International in St. Louis?

I'm going to the Busch race next weekend at Gateway International Speedway (actually in Illinois), but it made me wonder why there is no Cup race there. I've been to Indy there, I know they have the truck series there, they obviously also have Busch (because I'm going next weekend), I think they also have NHRA, so why no cup??

  • How far did I ride?

I ride a stationary bike and usually just set time goals instead of distance goals because the bike doesn't keep track of distance. So what you estimate my distance is if I rode for 30 minutes with an average speed of 8.2?

    Thanks.

  • Nascar drivers in Busch and Nextel? How do you feel?

I love NASCAR, don't get me wrong! (And before all the negative comments come out...I'm a educated woman, living in a gorgeous 2-story, with all my teeth) But NASCAR is the only professional sport in which the "pro" can also play in the "amateur" leaque. Think about all professional sports...Pro baseball players don't play AAA ball - NHL players don't play in the minors...so why do they allow Nascar drivers? It seems unfair to the Busch series drivers that all the Nextel cup drivers run (sometimes the full circuit and sometimes only selected races)that series (and win - which they should because they are pros) taking away wins from those drivers. What do you think?

  • When buying a home, do you look past the owner's clutter?

My husband and I are debating...we have (sort of on a whim) decided to put our home on the market. He says "The house isn't 'ready.'" We are bulging at the seams (hense the reason for the move) but it's nothing that makes the house look bad. He wants to do things like take all our boxes out of the basement and put them in storage, etc.

I say, if someone loves the home, they look past the "clutter." We've been buyers before and I always looked past the owner junk to imagine my own 'junk.'

    What do you think?
