  • Hard Drive failure is imminent, quick advice on what to back up?

And hello there people, today I have a wonderful question. My system drive is about to die (R.I.P) and I am currently in the process of migrating some data off of it before the inevitable happens.

Essentially, I am just after some suggestions on what to back up (in case I happen to forget something and kick myself later for it).

    So far I am copying:

    - Documents, Music, Images, Videos, etc.

    - Bookmarks and settings for various browsers.

    - Recording saved passwords in case I suddenly become afflicted with amnesia.

    - Some Steam games (however I have a fairly huge download quota so this is not really important.

    - A few directories here and there that contain somewhat useful things.

So people, what else should I rescue whilst I have the time? It is no good me doing a full "ghost" backup as I will be upgrading a few components once it all goes down, making a restore dangerous.

Best answer goes to well, the best answer :P

  • Purchasing Norton 360 from the US store, in Australia?

Essentially, the online store for Norton in the US is miles cheaper than the AU store.

I want to know if I purchase Norton 360 V5 (download) in the US store, can I then install and use the product over here in Australia?

Are the CD keys region locked?

I notice when I go to complete the purchase form, Australia is not listed under the "country" heading.

  • (West Aus) Can a learner driver have more than one passenger?

Hey, I live in Western Australia and would like to know if it is legal to carry the supervisor plus a passenger.

I see a lot of other learner's with people in the back seat, but I always thought that was illegal.

It's just it would be convenient if I could drive my elderly father around too.

    Thanks

  • A friend of mine is looking for a song she heard on the radio...?

She was a little rough on the details :S

Apparently it is a female vocalist, she sings slowly and softly and echo's a lot. And she can only remember the singer saying "in my dreams"

Sorry I couldn't give much details but if you have any ideas what so ever please answer (by the way it wasnt that delta goodrem song - I checked).

  • Does anyone else feel like they are losing control over their life?

Feel like things are getting way out of control?

    Getting in over your head?

    Things crumbling around you?

Curious to know if anyone feels like this, and if they will openly say it.

  • girlfriend broke up, what now?

Me and my gf got along very well, its just it couldn't work out between us. (I wanted to take my time and she wanted to take things a bit quicker). We are still both good friends and talk often, but I do have one question now.

Would i seem like an ass if I immediately went and sought out another girlfriend? Should I give it time or just go for it?

  • Dual booting, nice easy question...?

Sorry people, I should know this but I am a little hazy on dual booting.

When dual booting, you can have the installations setup over multiple hard drives right? Rather than on 2 partitions on the same hard drive.

    told you, nice easy question.

PS. the operating systems in question are vista and the 7 release candidate. I am not after dual booting guides, but you can chuck one in if you like :) Thanks in advance.

  • I am after a very specific free web-hosting service?

It needs to be able to store user accounts (people can register and log in) and must be able to run as if it were a forum - eg, posts, topics so on.

It needs to support both graphics and text and have some level of security.

So if you know of any websites offering free hosting services (I dont care if it forces ads or not) please tell me.

  • Help with HTML coding?

I usually don't need assistance in this sort of thing but hey, now i do.

I had a href setup so if you clicked a button it would take you to another html page. No info is submitted or anything, it is just a plain straightforward href. It worked before but today when i tested the button it didnt work.

    Here is my code:

    <a href="..\index.html"><button>Back</button></a>

the page i am accessing is in the directory before the current page, thus the "..". The exact same href works if i remove the button tags.

It worked before, but today it decided not too. Could someone please give me code that works (please stay away from a java one i have noticed on the net involving forms, it is different).

  • Networking switch, this would work right?

My friend has just gotten a new PC (lacking wireless capabilities).

The problem that has surfaced is that he now has 2 PC's but his crappy telstra modem has 1 port.

What I was thinking of doing for him was setting it up to hook both the comps up to the net. I was going to take that one ethernet cable, but rather than plug it straight into the comp, i was gonna plug it into a switch. From the switch I would then have 2 ethernet cables going to each computer respectively.

This would work right? I am a techie, but I am unsure about networking, however I am almost certain this will work. I just don't want to charge him for something only to have it "not" work the next day...

  • Ideas for final boss music?

    Hello all.

I am currently building a small RPG and I am stumped on ideas for what to have as the boss battle music.

As it stands it is a remixed version of in the end by linkin park. This goes for 5 minutes.

A very noticeable issue with songs. If I import a song, when it finishes, it will start over creating a dodgy loop. So if it is a song, it had better be a long one, as I am putting a timer on the last battle - as long as the song.

So yeah, any ideas for music, can rip anything off, eg final fantasy or whatever, it doesn't bother me.

Most interesting and "climatic" music gets best answer.
