Over the summer, my sister got a Macbook Pro from my parents. She eventually broke it (water damage) and my parents had it fixed by Apple Care and gave it to me. I loved it, awesome machine. But today I tried to update the software and it restarted and left me with a login screen. I know neither the user name nor the password. My sister is also clueless.

It won't let me "reset with Apple ID." I looked it up and people say that you should put in your OS X install disc, but my sister threw it out months ago.

If I purchase Snow Leopard on Amazon and put the disc into my computer, will I be able to reset the password? Please help! I don't want to waste $90, but I really need this computer!

I don't remember much about it. It's about this girl whose skin becomes multicolored and polka dotted and so she can't go to school. The doctors can't figure out what's wrong with her. I'm not sure how it ends but I think she eats some veggies and becomes normal again. Title and author please? THANK YOU!!
