  • Switching viewpoints mid-scene? Help?

I'm writing a story that has two viewpoints that alternate consistently with each chapter.

In one scene, I'm attempting to write one half of the scene from POV #1, and another half from another POV #2. I am NOT going to switch POVs mid-chapter. Instead, I was planning on splitting up the scene into two chapters, so the viewpoint switch would still be consistent with the chapter switch.

Is it okay to split a scene up into two chapters for the sake of doing two different POVs?

Just to be clear, I'm not going to repeat the scene in each character's POV. I'm just showing the first half in one character's POV, and the second half in the other's.

  • Is this an annoying character?

My character is a kind-hearted girl, but she's pretty naive. Trusts people too easily, doesn't believe in fighting - she doesn't defend herself. Additionally, she works in the medical field, but she makes a lot of mistakes and this annoys her co-workers. Her peers consider her the "weakest link" in the job. Her character development is about her learning to become stronger and handle the stressul situations of the medical field, but I feel like her mistakes and naivety might make her a more annoying character than one who can gain empathy.

    Any tips?

  • Do these seem like real character flaws?

This character is a very kind and sweet person, but perhaps too kind. She is very naive and trusts people too easily, and this results in her getting into a lot of trouble. She's also a pacifist, and doesn't believe in fighting - ever. Because of this, she doesn't defend herself and this makes it easy for other people to manipulate her. She is also afraid to defend other people most of the time, usually because she is afraid to cause trouble. She also gets overwhelmed in high stress situations, which is devastating to her character because she is going into the medical field.

However, I don't know what to do with her character development. Should it be about learning to defend yourself and others?

  • Legend of Korra fans: What would Amon do to a healer?

Say there was a waterbender who only used their bending to heal, and never attacked anyone. Do you think Amon would take their bending anyways? I mean, they aren't using their bending to oppress anyone. In fact, they're using it to help people - both benders and non-benders.

  • Is this biologically possible?

In a show I'm watching, there's a virus that supposedly only affects females (meaning, it only attaches itself to the X chromosome.) However, it can only be CARRIED by males. So, a male can be infected with this virus and if he is, his child will be born with it. However, if a female is infected, her children will not receive it.

I was thinking that this was impossible since, in females, there are two X chromosomes and so the bad one can just be replaced by the healthy one. But in males, there's only one of each, so if you get a bad one you're stuck with it. Wouldn't that mean that this virus, if it attaches itself to an X chromosome, would be more common in males than females?

  • Is this grammatically correct?

"This makes the answer clear; the only way to change something is by defying it."

I'm wondering about the semi-colon, but also "the only way to change something is by defying it."

Or would it be, "The only way to change something is to defy it."?

Also, is it better in an essay for the intro to be short? My intro paragraph is rather long.

  • Did I waste 5+ perks in Skyrim?

I'm trying to get my smithing to 11, and I wanted to get the Daedric armor perk as well as the dragon armor perk. I thought that to get them, you had to get the other perks that came before them. I didn't realize that it just mattered what level you were, so I wasted around five or six perks just trying to move up the tree...

Should I reload all the way back until the tree is empty again or just let it be?

  • Is it possible that a trait could only be passed on through one gender?

Say there was a trait - fictional, of course - that could only be passed on to children through their fathers. However, it only SHOWS in the FEMALE offspring of that father, and this trait will cause that female to be sterile. Any males who are given the trait will become carriers, and could pass on the trait to their future children.

    Is this even possible?

  • What kind of pencils and/or drawing tools would be good for an ameteur artist?

I'm just beginning to draw realistic people, but unfortunately, I only own your average mechanical pencils and erasers. I have two pencils that are supposed to professional, but seeing as how they were ordered from a magazine long ago when I was in elementary school, they are not very efficient.

I was wondering what kind of supplies I would need to begin drawing on a more serious level, working on portraits and things.

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you.

  • Gymnasts please help? I need some information?

I'm writing a short story about a young gymnast whose life revolves around the sport. She's been practicing since the age of four, and is supposed to be very experienced. The only problem is that I do not know anything about gymnastics, so I need some help.

First, I need to know how much a very experienced, professional gymnast would need to practice each day.

Second, moves that she would be practicing to do a competition, and also basic moves and stretches.

Also, the name of the equipmen she would be using. I know there are bars and mats and things, but I don't know what anything is called.

Any extra information would be very appreciated.

    Thank you :)

  • What song is this? Pleeassse help?

I'm sorry for repeating this question, but I'll freak out if I don't find this song.

It's by a girl, and it's a pop song. Kind of sounds like rap, but not really. It's old, from around 2003. In the chorus she sings something like, "You're the only one I love ay ay ay ay"

I don't know if "You're the only one I love" is right, but I know the "ay ay ay ay" is.

Pleassse help. It's NOT Umbrella by RIhanna, or Live your Life.

  • Pleeassse! Help! What popular song from 2003 is this?

It's a girl singing, and it's a really calm song (NO it's not UMBRELLA by Rihanna) She sings something like, "Only one I want ay-ay-ay-ay."

I don't know if those are the correct lyrics, but please help.

It's a girl, and it's kind of a rap song. I don't know if those are the correct lyrics, but I remember during the chorus she says, "Ay-ay-ay-ay" after what she's saying.

  • Is there a charity/hospital or any place that I could send Christmas cards to?

I have about a billion extra Christmas cards left over from last year that I just found, and I figured that it would be a good idea to send them to someone who could use a little extra Christmas boost this year. I just found out that the "Any Wounded Soldier" for Walter Reed Hospital won't work, and I'm a bit disappointed.

I don't have very much money, and wasn't able to do much to help anyone this year. I feel like the least I could do is help spread the Christmas cheer.

  • How do I solve this geometry problem?

I'm working with parallelograms. The question I've been given has asked me to determine whether or not a polygon (given the vertices) is also a parallelogram or not. I have to use the theorem that states that if a polygon is a parallelogram, then each pair of opposite sides must be congruent AND parallel.

I used the Distance Forumla to figure out that the opposite sides are congruent, but how do I prove that they are parallel?

The answer to this question is probably reallly, really simple. But I've been up all night doing homework and essays and things, so I'm very tired.

    Thank you.

  • What does this mean? A brief sense of fear?

When these things happen, they happen very suddenly and usually fade away within minutes. I don't know how to describe them, exactly. Some days I will be at school, walking to some class, and suddenly I'll feel like I NEED to leave and, for some reason, get a drink of water. It's not because I'm thirsty, I just feel like I need to go home and drink a lot of water. Also, sometimes I don't even want to go home, I just want to leave and run away. It eventually fades away, but for those few minutes, I feel incredibly uncomfortable and fearful.

When I was little, I could never go to sleepovers or anything, because I would always end up getting nauseas and having to go home; I would cry incessantly and feel like something bad would happen if I wasn't with my parents. I specifically remember one camping trip where I was with my mom, but I couldn't stop worrying about my dad (they divorced when I was four) and I was so scared, and I started trembling and crying, and I thought I would throw up. I didn't sleep at all that night.

I don't know why I'm still getting these little moments of being scared and wanting to leave, but I hate it when it happens. It's been more frequent lately, and I'm starting to wonder if it means anything or I'm just crazy.

    Can anyone explain this?

  • What's a healthy diet for a 14 year old girl and, also, B-Complex vitamins?

Hi, as you can probably guess from the title, I am a fourteen year old girl (using my sister's account) and have decided that I want to be healthier. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure what kind of things that I should be eating.

I know that I need to get two cups of fruit, two and a half cups of vegetables, ect., but when I read food labels, it gives me the "amount per serving" and I eventually end up getting confused. Also, I don't eat that much anyways, so to have the kind of diet that the food pyramid reccomends, I would actually have to eat more.

Also, I've just took some B-Complex vitamins (it was actually a liquid) because I want my hair to grow faster, and, looking at the foods I eat, I don't get enough of any vitamin.

So if anyone could provide for me a guide on how to eat healthier, I would appreciate it. And if anyone could provide for me an exercise guide, I would also be very appreciative of that.
