I'm moving to Iowa in May to be with my girlfriend. That's 800 miles away from my family. I am 20 years old. My family... mainly my step-mom feels I'm abandoning them. I am saving ALL my money towards moving out there to be on my own for my first time. She doesn't want to help me at all. She gets mad at me whenever i say something about my girlfriend or moving. I know she may just be sad I'm leaving but shouldn't they be supporting me? Aren't all parents supposed to help and support what you want to do?

I'm moving out of state all alone in May. I'm moving to be with my girlfriend but I'll have my own place. I'm moving straight out of my parent's house. I have no clue what to do and how to pursue this. How much money should I save to be ok with getting an apartment and getting all that taken care of with moving? Including what it costs to move 800 miles away from home... please help!
