  • California Power of Attorney?

I have a durable power of attorney form already. In order to allow the agent to transact for real property, I hear it must be notarized. Do I also need to have 2 witnesses sign as well? Does everyone need to be present at the notary public or can just the grantor take the form to a notary to be properly executed.

I basically need to have my mother in law sign a POA to grant powers to my wife, but she's a distance away. So I need to figure out how to make it the easiest for my mother in law without us having to physically be there. Anyone have an idea about the proper execution procedures in California? Thank you so much in advance.

  • California Power of Attorney in Nevada?

My wife's mother needs to give my wife durable power of attorney. We live in San Diego and her mother lives in San Jose. The next time they will see each other is in Las Vegas this week. What is required to make the power of attorney valid? Can it be signed and notarized in Nevada this week and still be valid in California? Does that make it a Nevada POA and does that extend into California? Does it matter? I guess I'm just really confused about the logistics of it and would really appreciate it if anyone knows how we can best get a durable POA out of this. Thank you in advance.

  • How do I rig a cake to explode?

...well not quite explode. I would like to construct a birthday cake that, with the press of a button, pops a jack in the box out of the top. Yes, this is intended to scare. =P I was thinking of cutting into the cake and placing the jack in the box in and frosting over the top. My concern is that I would need a non-traditional jack in the box and some sort of triggering mechanism. I don't know if infrared would make it through the frosting, so I can live with wire for reliability sake (only get one chance). I haven't had any luck finding a jack in the box like this and am not even sure if they exist. So I could fabricate something if need be, but was unsure of the best way to do it. Ideally, this will be a normal size cake roughly 5-6 inches high. I don't want anything too crazy, but I would like it to really 'pop.' I don't think pneumatics would be worth the trouble since this has to be somewhat mobile with a quick set up time. Anyone have any ideas or links to exploding cake wikis? Thank you in advance.

  • Forget the Republic...?

Why not? Let's trade in our Republic for an Oligopoly. Fascist oligopoly. Yay for us.

  • Since when did wasting your vote become catch phrase for discouraging voters?

To be honest, the Signers of the Declaration of Independence were wasting their 'vote' per se. They were signing a document that would have them hanged and expressing their opposition to the most powerful empire in the world. They risked everything they had including their lives to make a statement without knowing what the end result would be. They founded our Freedom based on ideas that seemed radical at the time and risking that they would not come out as winners because they valued the the possible end result of Freedom. Our country was founded on the ideas of making your vote count based on what you believe, not betting on the winning horse. Just remember that by voting for the winning horse, you are VOTING FOR A HORSE. Why not just vote for where your principles and ideas are? Is it really bad for you to lose? We all lose if you don't vote for your principles and rather follow who the media says will be the front runner.

  • How will they change the ecomony?

I mean honestly give me solid and completely clear ideas on how they plan to help the economy and the bubble we are in right now.

I hear about "Change" but it's a freaking cliche with nothing solid or direct. I hear no one on the majority's side that is talking about real policy. Don't give me generalities...WHAT ARE THEY REALLY GOING TO DO?

We are heading towards economic collapse and I hear from these front runners..."change". Sounds like stupid politicking to me. Where is the actual plans and blueprints that are economically sound?

They all have their own increase in spending. Health care or more war abroad. We can't afford either let alone what we already owe in 60 trillion in Social Security obligations. Do any of you people understand this at all? Are you voting like it is American Idol? I want to understand.

  • Embarrassing for Thompson and Giuliani?

Why on earth would Wolf Blitzer say that it is embarrassing for Thompson and Giuliani that they are below Ron Paul? Especially considering how he is excluded from most of the media consideration and mentionings. I think that is a ridiculous insult and shows just how biased the media is.

  • NY Giants - Home field DISadvantage?

Are the Giants really a decent team that is hampered by their fans? I believe that the Giant fans are the worst in the league. If you throw one pick in the first quarter, get ready for the barrage of booing from fans that will continue every time you get on the field. Do you think that the Giants would have had a better regular season record if they didn't have to play ANY game at home? Home field advantage predicates that your fans will get behind you, cheer you on so that you get a higher level of confidence and that they will be loud to disrupt the opponents offense. These fans do the opposite. I'm amazed Manning could do any line of scrimmage adjustments over deafening booing. Now they are 9-0 in the last 9 road games including 2 playoff games and are now in the NFC Championship game. I think I can still hear some booing going on...terrible fans.

  • Will Terrell Owens shoot someone at the press conference?

I mean I'm waiting for a meltdown of epic proportions. I imagine he's going to feel the need to top his previous tirades. So what's he going to do?

  • Ron Paul - Are you un-American if you don't vote for him?

I mean, the Fed is the worst thing for those who believe in the free market and for the dollar in general. The inflation from credits to large financial institutions and to pick up 66% of exorbitant government spending trickles down as inflation to average Americans. One of the defining characteristics of currency is that it's a store of value (holds it)...and that's exactly what the dollar has not done. A market determined currency is the most reliable. The Fed distorts market interest rates by controlling them and therefore prohibits genuine savings and investment and rather replaces it with planned economic goals. Seems more Communist that Capitalist....that whole market v. planned economy.

Our foreign policy that has been greatly debated here is, whether you like it or not, the root motivation for the terrorists that seek to harm us. Iranian policy after WW2, support for Israel, support for Saudi monarchs, heavy aid to Saddam Hussein against Iran, etc....we are not innocent.

  • Obama/McCain 2008?

So we hear tons about Obama and his desire to unite the country and to limit petty party politics. He speaks about reaching out across the aisle and close cooperation. So wouldn't the biggest gesture to cement that idea and his commitment to it be to run with a Republican who shares this notion cooperation? I think the only barrier is their stance on Iraq. Just for fun though, does anyone think that an Obama/McCain ticket could possibly be beat?

  • Should Fisher be fired?

I remember him saying that he had no qualms about benching Young and putting Collins in if he thought that Young would not be the danger on the ground that he should be. Marino looked more mobile than Young did tonight and Fisher refused to sub in Collins. Young was also incredibly amateur in passing. I mean...this was terrible. Does anyone think Fisher should be fired for allowing Young to stay in the game and be a complete non-issue?

  • So who else thiks Moss just cost the Redskins the game?

I mean, why in the world would you ever quit on a route at a pinnacle point in a playoff game? That was just ridiculous. He stops to turn around and watches the ball fly over him. It should have been a contested ball. That's just stupid.

  • Anyone else impressed with WVUs intensity?

I'm just plain impressed that they've been able to come out and defensively manhandle Oklahoma. I was not anticipating it being this close. I say good for them. OU just doesn't look enthused ate all.

  • Who here believes the NFL is rigged?

If so, then I recommend that you all look into Scientology. It is filled with marvelous things for highly gullible people to believe in completely devoid of factual data. I really think you'd be happy with it and you'd meet many like minded people.

  • ...Joe Pa....?

With all the buzz now about the Patriots, lets not forget to honor another great of the game. Joe Pa coached and won his 500th game and is a legend. And to top it off he handles it with a class and humility that is really very rare in the game nowadays. Even after the cheer caller insulting him, he still was able to brush it off.

  • Where are these 4.85 gb DVD-Rs?

I've run into the problem recently of videos being 4.8gb and was looking for an out without trimming any of the content. I noticed Corel DVD Copy 5 had an options for 4.85 gb dvds and aside from a couple obscure articles from 2004, I can't find any info on this format. Apparently it was supposed to work just fine with standard single layer burners/players, but have that extra space for the times when it's just over 4.7. Anyone know about this at all? I can't find any other info let alone a place to purchase them.

  • Since when did respect involve laying off an opponent?

I have a question for the people saying the Pats are running up the score.

Do you think it is any less disrespectful to stop playing and bring in your backups than to keep out your starters?

It is essentially telling your opponent that they just can't hang. I think it is even MORE patronizing to not give your opponent the chance to at least salvage some sort of dignity against your main guys. It's kind of like winning a few pots in poker and then leaving the table without giving the rest of the poeple a chance to win their money back...it's just bad. I think leaving your starters in shows more respect because that says that you feel you have to continue to press or you think they have the mustard to come back. Pulling them tells your opponent they just can't do anything to you, not even your second rate players.

  • Is there a way to download matches?

I'm an American and I've fallen in love with your amazing game. I've watched every clip and montage on YouTube and started looking on torrent. I only found 1 match that actually downloaded and it was this year's Prelim Final Collingwood v. Geelong. Great friggin match. I am stuck though as to how to get more high quality full matches for download. I'd even pay, that's how desperate I am. Any place that offers matches for purchase?
