  • Pampers sensitive "no-scented" baby wipes.....?

Okay so we have used these wipes since Noah was born because I've always liked them better than all the other wipes I've tried, and because they don't have a smell. But the last 2 boxes I've got have smelled REALLY strongly of something. I hate the new smell expecially since theyare supposed to be "non scented".

So if you use these wipes, have you noticed the same thing, or do you think maybe (hopefully) it was just those two boxes?

  • What do you think (about homeschooling..)?

I saw a question earlier about homeschooling and it got me to thinking....

First off, I think parents who homeschool are great...and I think people who send their children to public/private schools are great. This is not a judgemental question my son is only 16 months old, I was just curious.....

    So, homeschooling parents...

    1. Did you go to college? If so, do you have a degree?

    2. Did you do well in high school?

    3. Do you think parents should have to take a test to qualify to be able to homeschool their kids? (to prove that they are knowlegeable in the material and that they are capable of teaching it to their child)

    4. Is there a point that you feel like you will not be competent to keep homeschooling your child? (for example, when he/she is in high school, or is learning Algebra, Calculus, ect.)

    And non-homeschooling parents....

    1. What do you think about homeschooling?

    2. Do you think parents should have to go to college to homeschool? What if they did really well in high school?

    3. Should homeschooling parents be required to take a test before they are allowed to homeschool their children?

    Thanks.....

  • Have you ever been criticized in real life....?

So the other day a girl I work with (at the Health Department btw) actually criticized me because my 16 month old son's carseat is still rear facing!!! She was like "Why would keep his carseat rear-facing!? I turned my kids around before they were 1!" I said "Well, you know that is actually illegal right? And I do it because it is a lot safer; you can keep them rear facing until they are 35-40 pounds depending on the carseat." And she said, "Obviously you've never seen what happens to a kid's legs when they get in a wreck," And I just said, "Well, I'd rather he have broken legs than be dead!" And left it at that.

I was just so shocked that this actually happened. I mean, I know people criticize people for stuff like this online, but I didn't think people really did this in real life.

So, have you ever been criticized for something in REAL life? What?

  • Question about insurance...unmarried parents...?

So my fiancee's work is FINALLY offering insurance, he has been there for about 5 years, and I worked there for 5 years before Noah was born; then I took 13 months off and now I work at the Health Department. My job does not offer insurance (I am on contract as a breastfeeding peer counselor and am only allowed to work >20 hours per week, so I get no benefits...bummer eh?) so I don't have insurance, I just pay my doctor bills when I go (STILL paying for a broken hand in July! almost done though lol). But now that he is able to get insurance through his job I was wondering if they would let him put me on his insurance even though we are not married? If it helps we have lived together over 5 years and have had 2 children together *one living*. I don't know if that matters to ins. companies or not though?

So after all that...My question is....Can I get on his insurance as a cohabitating partner or do we have to be married?

For the record---- We've been engaged for like 3-4 years, we just haven't got married because....we're lazy I guess. We haven't felt like actually doing it lol. It's not something that is really important to us, but we do plan on doing it eventually so I don't really want to hear any "you should be married to have kids" stuff, thanks.

  • What are some fun activities to do with my 14 month old...?

I need some ideas of fun activities to do with my 14 month old son. Here's some info before you answer....

~We already take him to the park, play outside *all he wants to do is crawl in the road, so this is hard lol* and go for walks. And play inside with his toys and stuff.

~Our area does not have anything like a children's museum, zoo, aquarium, stellarium, or anything fun for kids. All we have recreational-wise is a skating rink *he can't even walk yet, so that's definately a no-go* and a bowling place 1 town over, and he's too young for that.

~I've tried colouring with him, but he just tries to eat the crayons.

I'm stuck for ideas and we are both bored to death lol!!!!

  • Does your breastfed toddler have a "lovey"?

I saw a question about this and it got me to thinking. I always read in baby books and online and stuff that around 1 babies will develop a strong attachment to a certain toy, stuffed animal, blanky, ect and have to have it with them constantly for comfort. But my son doesn't have anything like that at all. Does yours? I was thinking that maybe since breastfed children still have that attachment/bond with mom that they don't need it and that children who have a lovey are just trying to replace that connection with mom. ? Maybe? I don't know. Just thinking. What are your thoughts?

  • What would you do (MIL/breastfeeding ? --go figure)?

What would you do in this situation....

My MIL (who btw is wonderful and I get along with her great and she does a lot for my family) really makes it awkward when I am at their house for dinners, get togethers, family events, holidays ect and I need to breastfeed my son (13 months). First of all let me say that I am comfortable nursing in public and have done so many times *without a cover even, gasp* haha but she really embarrasses me. If she sees me nursing Noah she will yell "OH he's eating! He's eating. Everbody, Noah had to get the boob!" or something equally as embarrassing. So then I'm sitting there and DH's entire family is staring at me and Noah usually gets distracted and looks around to see what the heck the commotion is about so that makes it that much worse. It's just really awkward. And sometimes if Noah lets me know that he wants to eat I will go to nurse him and she'll say "Get that tit, Noah, you better get that tit" !!!! Which REALLY bothers me, firstly because I really, really do not want Noah to start saying that word, and secondly it grosses me out. But I can't say anything because....well I just can't bring myself to haha. What would you do?

  • How old was your child when they started letting you know they pooped?

The past week my son (13 months) will come over to me whining and crying and I'll say "Did you poop" and he will grab his belly with both hands and then I will say "Do you need your diaper changed?" and he will shake his head 'yes' and will crawl over to his little couch where I change his diapers. It is so cute. But if I ask him "Did you poop?" and he DIDN"T poop he will grab his belly and look at me and I'll say "Do you need your diaper changed?" and he will just look at me confused. He won't shake his head yes or go to the couch. So he knows what's going on. And then today he looked at me and said "Poop." (he didn't really say it right, but I could tell what he was saying) and I said "Did you poop?" and he grabbed his little belly and I said "Do you need your diaper changed" and he ran over to the couch.

I am so proud of him, but is this early for him to be doing this? It shocked me when he started doing it, I wasn't expecting it to happen for a long time. Obviously he's still to young for potty training but it's good that he is starting to figure out what's going on down there. lol.

How old was your child when they started letting you know when they pooped? Any cute stories?

  • Breastfed baby/Cow's milk...?

So my son is almost 13 months old and is breastfed and at his check up the doctor told me to give him cow's milk. It struck me as unnecessary because he is still nursing quite frequently, but then I got to wondering if he is supposed to have it. I'm confused now, I guess I never really thought about it until the doctor brought it up. When did you start your breastfed baby on cow's milk? Does he really need it even though he is getting plenty of mommy milk?
