  • Anyone here against the Skokie Swift (Yellow Line) extension to Old Orchard?

    I've herd they are thinking of it again and are holding a meeting about it http://www.transitchicago.com/news/ctaandpress.wu?... to me it's great. It would be so much easy for me to get there and I just like the Idea of it. I can’t real think of a down side to it because you trip from Dempster would be no longer of a trip then it is now. I know it would take at lest 2 Years to move from Ideas to paper to building.

    P.S. isn't it nice that it's running weekends now

  • Could a merger of___&___ saved the two railroads?

    the CNW (Chicago North Western) and the Milwaukee Road both are no more. (fallen flags) I wounder if a merger of the CNW and Milwaukee or a bought out of Milwaukee by CNW. could have saved the Milwaukee Road and make them a big player today with high Intermodal traffic from the west.

    I am just wounder if I mean no disrespect to Milwaukee Road I just like to think of what could have been.

    could it have worked or not. Why?

  • what kind of Taxes do the American railroads pay?

    I know railroads pay for every thing except passenger trafic which is Amtrak. and airlines pay mostly for there supplies and gas not much else.

    but my main Quietens is what taxes do railroads pay today and what kind of taxes airlines pay and what about Chicago Union station.

  • Opinion should Senior Ride Free on CTA?

    It looks set that CTA will have to accept the Free Ride to seniors for money but is it a good Idea. My feeling is that it is a good Idea nice thought but I heard that it will cost the cta and rest of RTA $20 million a year for this. And seniors already have half off. And my fear is that cta will go back into a hole because state will not willing to give much more money to public transportation.
