I would like to make a light bar for cfl's in my workshop, I already have a peice of wood to attach the sockets to, and was looking at cleat sockets like this one http://www.lowes.com/pd_71110-334-S752W-SP-L_42949... , I would like to run 5 bulbs on the light bar. A total of about 250 watts going through the whole thing. I have seen people cut the female end off an extension cord, and screw/install the same cord to all 5 lights right down the line. Is this safe? How can I power all 5 bulbs without a mess of 5 cords? Any input is appreciated.

I want to make curtains and have found the 2 fabrics that I LOVE, but they are upholstery fabric... when I showed them to my grandmother to ask about using her sewing machine, she said upholstery fabric would be far too heavy for curtains and might weigh the whole rod down. I don't know what to do? my mother in law said to find sheets I like, and use them to make the curtains out of. no dice finding any that are curtain worthy yet :(

I just moved to a new house, and the beckyard allready has a perfect bed shaped out. The only problem is that at some point there was sand in the box (used to be the underneath of a wood patio) and since the patio was taken down, dirt, moss and a heck of allot of grass and weeds has taken over. The soil is still quite sandy and rocky, and I would like to add some garden soil for nutrients and overall health of the plants. My question is, the "miracle grow garden soil" is 7.77 a bag at lowes. They also have "topsoil" for $2 a bag... can I buy a few bags of the cheap stuff to mix in? any suggestions to save money is appreciated, I am doing about a 8x10' box growing watermelon, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and sunflower. I just moved into a basement apartment of a single family home, and the landlord is taking $$ off the rent for maintaining the yard. The yard is completely over grown and has not been maintained for over 5 years. there is a stump towards the back of the yard, aprox 4' wide. The tree must have been cut down years ago, as there are now caverns inside of it that had filled with debris and decayed. it goes about 4' deep. There are termites all over the stump, slowly eating away at it, and turning what is inside of the shell of the stump into what is great looking compost/mulch. My question is, Can I use that dark black material for compost or might it kill my fruit and veggie garden? also, will the termites be harmful to my garden? I do not want to pay for equipment to get rid of the stump, but if there is a cheap/non harmful way to get rid of the stump I'd like to do it to improve the look of the yard. any suggestions are appreciated. Only when bent forward past 90 degrees. and its like a sore, muscle pain, not like OMG THAT'S A BROKEN BONE kinda pain. Im just wondering if rest/wrapping will help and/or if there is anything else I can do and also if there is anything more serious that this could be. Im worried because Im going o be going into the army soon and I want it to be completely healed before hand. Thank you!!!

I am wondering, If I join as a 27D (paralegal) or 68W will I have certificates or something when I get back to civillian life? Paralegal is a 2 year A.A. degree and I am wondering if I will have to go back to school for any length of time after the military if I decide to stay with that job. Same for physicians assistant. ALSO, any suggestions for a good MOS for a female? Im very laid back and SUCK at math and am a LAND LOVER meaning that I prefer to have my two feet on solid ground....any suggestions?

I was about to call my recruiter and start the process of joining the reserve. Then I ran across this article all about rape of female soldiers. I googled. Now I am under the impression that all attractive females in the army are forced in one way or another to have sex? I know I will hear allot of **** from my co-workers, and that is fine, I really don't give a crap about jokes or remarks, ive been dealing with it my whole life. But the idea of a commanding officer giving me orders to have sex with him is really quite scary. My top fear of joining before reading that article was being held as a POW and raped by the enemy. I had never, ever considered that a soldier would rape another soldier. maybe its because I know so many exceptional and Truly wonderful and brave soldiers. maybe its because its a hush-hush situation. But Id like to know the truth. Is it as rampant as the article makes it seem? will I have to defend myself from one of my comrades? the thought is sincerely scary and as a decently attractive female I am completely re-thinking my motivation to join. Ladies, any input? Gentlemen? I had never even considered this as a concern before....

So I have yet to talk to a recruiter, but I have read that you do not get an enlistment bonus when you join the army (I would be going reserve) with a GED. I currently do not have a ged, and was hoping that I could join without one or be given the test before leaving for BCT ( I know I will pass, I was in honors and AP classes all through high school). I have also heard that the guard does give the bonus but the army does not. I am not joining for the money but it would help me out alot to have that bonus to come home to after AIT. I also want to make sure I am joining the right branch.

So, does anyone know the true and current policy about a General Education Diploma?

I am thinkin about signing up but I cant decide what will be better for me....if I am bored as hell in the reserves I may want to go on deployment or just go active duty and I want to know that I have that option before signing up for the reserves.

I am a 20 year old female looking to join the army but I have several questions... I have cats, and while my mother is available/agreed to care for them while I am deployed, I would like to be able to come home and care for them at night while I am state-side. I assume that that leaves me with the reserves (since I would be living in barracks full time with active duty, No?) All of the aptitude tests that I have taken tell me that I should be doing 31B or combat, special operations etc... I CANT DO HALF THE JOBS BECAUSE I HAVE BOOBIES? !?!?!?! and it is my impression that MPs are full time soo........ I’m left trying to find something I will like to do that a female "can" do and that will hopefully give me a career boost when my contract is up. I’m pretty dumb when it comes to math of ANY type and will prob. fail the math section of the asvab. Other than that I have passed all of the other pre tests easily. I am planning on working for the county 911 operations desk in Baltimore, once I get done with BCT and AIT. I’m just kinda lost, and am hoping to get some advice from people about good MOS for my situation, being that I will most likely not serve for more than 6 years, and that while I am not greatly afraid of bullets, I would like to have them shot at me as infrequently as possible :P

So what can a numerically challenged, land loving, 120lb lil lady like myself do as a specialty? I love the idea of working with police dogs as a civilian (I heard it takes forever for an MP to actually start training with their dog tho) I currently work in a law office and I guess I can do the legal thing although I’m looking for a change, I don’t want to be bored as f*%k during AIT or deployments, I am pretty social and prefer to talk to people over being elbow deep in an engine anyday (no disrespect to the mechanics) and I haven’t the slightest clue of what I will want to do with my life 4 years from now. I think I would LOVE being a drill instructor (I understand that this is down the line but maybe there is a MOS that will set me up for this? how do I get there?) The things that have caught my eye while browsing GOARMY.com 92Y (how is this MOS while deployed? I feel like monthly drill for this mos would be really easy) 42A or 42F, 68P or 68E the list goes on and on.....

P.S. I do NOT have any desire to do anything that has anything to do with being on a boat/ship/plane/chopper aside from traveling from point A to point B. A friend suggested that I go for Coast Guard.....absolutely positively not.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to do as much research as I can before making this decision. I understand that every MOS depends on availability; I’m just hoping to hear from people living it firsthand. What do you love about your MOS?, what do you hate about it? LADIES- any cool MOS that you wish you would have thought about before signing up? or advice on being a female soldier in general?

I haven't been to talk to a recruiter yet... I am looking to join the army reserves. I know you get drill pay which is like 180 per month or something, But what about while I am deployed? full time work gets full time pay correct? or would I just get stuck with my monthly drill pay? I also understand that there are bonus for being in a war-zone and stuff, I am not worried about that, I just want to know what I am GUARANTEED as far as pay goes during deployment. (trying to figure out how I am going to pay my bills while in the sandbox)

I understand a bit about what BCT is like, and I assume that AIT is just a bit more laid back since your learning more and getting yelled at less. My question is, for national guard and army reserve, what is the annual 2-3 week training like? am I going to show up and have DI's yelling all over again? do you go to dorms like BCT? any info is much appreciated.

K so I am 20 years old. My mother is CRAZY and not like normal mom crazy. it would take too long to explain but to sum it up she always does the wrong thing so she can get sympathy/have something to complain about. I quit school to help pay the rent when i was 16, and she had and still has my 27 year old brother living with her free and clear... So I decided for the sake of my sanity that I would move out about 3 months ago. my mom decided that the place we were was too big for her and my brother, so she moved shortly after I did. We were splitting the bills before I left, and she still never paid them on time. Then she tells me that she was going to move to a more expensive apartment. I told her over and over again that it would end badly because she couldnt afford it. Well here we are 3 months later...my rent/bills have been on time every time since i have been on my own and now she is going to get kicked out of her apt... her car insurance is being cancelled in 3 days and she flipped out on me this morning because I didnt ask her and my brother to come move in with me in my one bedroom apartment. she claims that she dosent have the money to pay her bills... and i can see why. when i go on to her online bank statement, There are several monthly charges to HSN and QVC. she claims that they were for christmas gifts, which may be so... but when it comes down to paying the bills or giving people christmas gifts.... Also, she gets about $500 per month from my fathers pension fund free and clear. If I had that I would certaintly be making the most of it. and she buys my brother a pack of smokes a day and liquour whenever he wants and I just want to know that im not wrong for saying NO that she CANT move in with me. Her guilt trips/crazyness is making me insane and i really tried to help her financially and it just didnt work... IDK WTF to do!!!!!!

Okie dokie. I am decorating my bathroom on a dime and i found this great collection from target that's really nice looking and really cheap. My only problem is that every review for the liquid soap dispenser talks about the fact that the bottom rusts (from inside out) from the liquid soap. The problem is that there should be a plastic piece in the dispenser to hold the soap separately from the metal. I was thinking about using a rubber spray to "seal" it from the soap. here is the product i was thinking of using: http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip i want to buy 2 of these dispensers, one for soap and one for mouthwash and I don't know if the liquids will be toxic from sitting next to the rubber stuff? I am doing my bathroom in black and clear/frosted glass, and i am wondering if this particular product would make the mouthwash toxic. Please answer to the best of your abilities. this isn't really something that i want to take any chances on so.....

With the recent recall of peanut related products, I am left wondering what would happen to a business that continued to sell the contaminated product? Do you think there should be laws with potential fines or jail time for shop owners who continue to sell these products?

In example: there is a small corner store in my town just outside Baltimore City. The shop owner is strange and I doubt he is aware that there are recalls on peanut related products and if he does know about the recall I highly doubt that he would throw away any of his merch. I also don't think he gets his stuff from a distributor, more like a Costco shopper. I still see peanut butter crackers, sports bars etc... on his shelves. if this makes someone sick they could die. Sol what I want to know is, Is it the consumers responsibility or should the retailer be held responsible for selling recalled product?

I would like to build something small that we can come to every time we go camping in the same area. would this be against national policy?

My aunt bought me $50 worth of walt disney stock for my birthday back in 1996. I am wondering how much that would be worth today and if it is a significant enough number to ask her to cash it in. Also, she put it in her name since i was underage, but my name is secondary on it, do i even need her to cash it? (i do not have any documentation about the stock, i just saw it on missingmoney.com)

I am so infuriated. My mom works at an old folks home in maryland. she has a hostile coworker whom she had to ask to do some of her work one day. the woman refused and long story short she got on the elevator with my mom and jabbed her finger in my moms chest several times. my mom got out of the elevator and reported it to her boss, the maint. director. well today everyone on maint. staff had a meeting about this. there were approx. 8 people there including my mom, this woman and her supervisor. as soon as my mom started to talk about the issue she had with this woman, the woman gets up and goes to her flailing her fists in my mothers face (allthough not actually striking her) in front of everyone. my moms supervisor did nothing. so my mom went to the boss of the entire building whom she had also told of the Original assault. This woman told her that she wasn't going to do anything to her and when my mom ask that she be written up the woman refused. i am so angry i could just scream. i know that for treatment like this there has to be something like race or sex or mental abilities to be considered workplace harassment, but i just want to know what i should do. my mom loves her job and i would hate to see her quit or worse get fired because of this woman.

Ok so just on the sides of my nose at the base I have all these clogged pores. they are not noticeable from far away, but if you look for them you can see them. they bother me sooo much. and its gross because they look grey during the day but right after i get out of the shower if i try to put pressure on them to pop them white stuff comes out that must have just been chillin in my FACE. My skin dries really easy with soap and stuff and i never really wear foundation or anything on my skin aside from oil of Olay's beauty fluid which says on the bottle that it doesn't clog pores. is there anything i can do aside from trying to push all the gunk out? i am trying not to scar my face with my fingernails.
