  • Moving to Quebec for Cegep?

Hi, I'm currently a grade 10 student in B.C. and I'm extremely interested in transferring to the Cegep program for social sciences in Quebec for my grade 12 and "13" year. I have always loved Quebec for it's rich, vibrant, and historic culture. I know of a friend's friend who has benefited from the program as well as another friend of mine who attended an exchange program there and says that it was one of the best experiences of her life. I'm aware that there is a fee for non-Quebec residents, is the program worth the transfer? I would love to attend McGill afterwards and I've heard that the program eases the transition into university. Also, would I be able to pay the Quebec resident prices if I decide to continue with university in the province? I'm a french immersion student, so I'm fairly fluent in speaking french. I'm not sure if I should be looking at english or french Cegep schools, but right now I'm looking at Dawson or Vanier and my choice is leaning towards the latter.

    Thanks :)!

  • Photography feedback please?

    Hi!

I'm 14 and have decided to take this activity as a 'hobby'. I've taken a liking into photography from last year and I would like to have you guys give some feedback on my photos, please. I use a Nikon L100 and I am investing towards a DSLR for an actual 'manual mode' (the L100 is almost 100% auto), although I do believe that photography is about the photographer and not the camera.

  • Question about sponsoring a child?

    Hi :)!

This christmas, I would like to do something special with money I have earned and invested. I have always wanted to reach out globally and aid those in need and what really got me inspired was joining the United Nations club at my school. All of the facts concerning poverty in developing countries and the lives of these children greatly affect me. I'm so grateful to live a life without worry for survival and I have all the things I need. I would be willing to take on the responsabilities and care required for this. This year in particular, I've been helping and getting involved locally through volunteering and school.

As a 14 year old do you think that I would be able to sponsor a child (with parental permission support)?

    Thank you so much :)!

  • Canon T1i vs Canon XS w/ 75-300mm lens?

Hi, I am considering purchasin a DSLR and I am currently stuck in between these the Canon Rebel T1i and XS.

Which do you think is more worth it?

    T1i:

    XS:

    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/canon-canon...

Theres a promo going on, so they would both be $50 off.

And for another $100, would this be a decent package?

    Thank you so much!

  • Should I buy the 4mp (original) Canon 1D?

Hi, I would like to know if the first-released 4MP Canon 1D would be a sensible choice to buy? They are very cheap now and I am interested in going for a DSLR. Thanks!

  • DSLR camera or laptop?

Hi, right now i'm deciding on whether or not I should purchase a DSLR camera or a laptop. I got a Nikon L100 for christmas and it is a fantatic P&S, but I am looking more into photography and the freedom of manual controls (the L100 didn't have much manual control, therefore making me feel limited) to take more creative pictures. I was thinking about getting a laptop because right now, my family only has one desktop that we all share, and they were beginning to think that I 'hog' it a little too much :). Please note that if I purchase a laptop, it would most likely cost more than the DSLR.

Anyways, there are a few nice deals available from Dell of a few DSLR's that interested me:

A330L 10.2 MP Digital SLR Camera Bundle with 18-55mm and 75-300mm Lenses

    $579.00 (save $220)

    or

EOS Rebel XS Black 10.1 MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm IS Lens

    $490.00

I'm leaning a bit towards the Sony because it comes bundled with 2 lenses, all opinions will be considered :).

  • How to improve on sprinting?

I'm in gr. 8 now and i'm just beginning to take on track a bit more seriously

    right now, im running a 13.17s 100m and a 27.7 200m.

I just had another meet today, so those times might change slightly since its my first time using some new spikes i got.

My high school team doesn't really help since we only have practice once a week, so I just wanted to know if anyone can suggest on how i can improve :).

I've also been told that when i run, i tend to lean back/ tilt my head back a bit.

    Thanks :D!

  • Is it OK to bring a DSLR on an intense camping/hiking trip?

Each summer, i go to this summer camp and the scenery there is amazing

however, the best places are found on the hike, which is pretty vigorous and intense

I would like to know your guys' opinion on whether or not i should bring a DSLR on the hike, although i am a bit worried that it might bump against something or get scratched

i have a neck strap for it, but dont want to have to bring it in and out of a camera bag every few steps

  • Is this is good training for the upcoming track and field season?

    This is my training plan:

    Monday:

    5km run

    Tuesday:

    100m, 800m (on track

    Thursday:

    5km run

    Friday:

    200m, 400m (on track)

I'm in 8th grade, and I run almost all running events upto the 800m.

I consider myself a sprinter, but my school coach says that I performed very well in cross-country, so he suggests trying the 1600 as well.

Would this be a suitable plan for me? Or how should I improve it...

  • Is the "HP Pavilion Computer featuring AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 620 (P6211F)" a good computer for me?

I'll have a maximum of 4.5GB of songs and probably around 8GB of photos. Do you think this computer would run smoothly?

Also, will this PC be able to play 'The Sims 3' ? Because unfortunately, I got this game for my birthday and my old computer wasn't able to run it.

If possible, I would like to know what this computer really is capable of (an general overview), I have read many review and hardware specs and it seems pretty good to me

I'm also looking into the 'HP Pavilion Intel Pentium E5300 Computer (P6241F)' ... is this one better?

Thank you very much! I'm planning on getting a computer soon and this may just help me make the decision on which computer to get, for my current one is almost 9, almost 10 years old. It's very old (has the big screen and all) and I'm unable to keep it on for a long period of time, which interferes with my activities. Once again, Thank you for all answers :)!
