  • Can anyone recommend some books that are similar to these?

    The Fault In Our Stars

    Me Before You

    Maybe Someday

Basically I'm looking for tearjerkers or young teen romance novels etc.

I know there are sequels to a couple of those, but I don't really want to read them as I'm uninterested in those - they don't really go well with the first story to be honest

    Thanks

  • My laptop's sound is really dodgy, like there is a loose connection somewhere...?

The laptop's screen has to be in a certain position to get sound through the speakers and through headphones. If I move the laptop slightly it cuts the sound out and have to wriggle it around to get it back on again.

Is this a loose connection with the sound card or something, as it's not just the speakers but also through the headphones?

My 2 year old fell onto the laptop, causing part of the screen hinge to snap. It hasn't done any damage to the screen or anything, but it lifts the base casing up slightly when opening it and then it closes again. Could the hinge being damaged there cause the sound to become like it is?

Imagine not plugging a speaker in properly and playing music through it, that's how it sounds. Constantly cutting out, getting louder and deeper, and then really crackly and stuff.

How much would it cost approximately to fix this issue if you know what it is?

  • My car is making a noise when I'm driving..?

It sounds to me like one of the tyres is letting out air as that's what it actually sounds like (a whoosh whoosh sound, as if blowing into a balloon quite fast). But relatives have said lots of different things such as something rubbing, or the wheel bearings.

I know one of the tyres need changing soon because it is quite worn down, but is it something as simple as just one of them has a slow leak? Or is there something that I'm going to have to pay a load of money out for?

I've just had it MOT'd and serviced, and there was nothing said, yet it only makes the noise whilst its moving obviously. And you can only hear it on the outside of the car if you open a window, you can't hear it inside.

Some guesses would be great :)

  • Ear problems... Can anyone help?

At this very moment I have smelly fluid leaking from my ear and hearing loss in that ear. It has been like this for the past 3 weeks, since I had an ear infection which I believed to have cleared up as I was no longer in pain and the drum had "popped" and had a release of pressure and a load of old wax came out and I felt much better. Anyone have any idea what's up? I will be trying to make an appointment with my doctor today, but it's so difficult to get one.

I had glue ear in my childhood and had my adenoids removed and a grommet put in this ear when I was 12 as my adenoids didn't shrink and was causing the blockage.

Ever since that age, every time I get a tiny bit of water in my ear (and I mean like a water drop) I get a sudden burst of pain through my ear and down into my throat and around my jaw. I am now 22, so has been happening for the past 10 years. I dealt with this by trying my hardest not to get water in my ear as I thought it was a symptom from having the grommet!??

  • Renting as five adults?

There is 5 adults and an infant who are wishing to move out together into a rented house whilst we save up for separate mortgages. The house we live in at the moment is too cramped (3 bed house) when we need at least a 4 with more room downstairs.

There is a mother, 2 daughters and their 2 partners, and a 3 month old son of one of the couples.

However, the only problem we have is the fact that the 1 daughter is on maternity leave so has no longer got her full income and she was the one that gained the most money. Also, the 1 daughter and partner, and the mother has bad credit (just defaults, no CCJs etc) but the daughter on maternity leave and her partner have a very good credit history.

It wouldn't have been much of a problem if the daughter on maternity leave WASN'T on maternity leave, and she and her partner could have rented out as they have a fairly good income between them (£28,000). Yet the problem would also be the fact that the other adults in the house would also be credit checked!

Would people please be able to give us some different ways of trying to rent a house and which would be the best way?

  • Renting with 5 adults... will we get the house?

There is 5 of us planning to move out to a rented house to attempt to clear any debt out of our lives and to build up deposit for a future mortgage. There is myself and my partner with our newborn baby, my sister and her other half, and my mother.

However I know at estate agents, they do credit checks on you. Me and my partner have fair credit, enough to manage to obtain finance for a car in October 2012. My mother however, has a very poor credit rating. She has 3 defaults and late payments on accounts (hence why we are moving in together, to help her pay off her debt), However, she has never been late paying her own rent in the 10 years she's lived at her house.

We're not quite sure what my sister and her other half's credit is going to be like yet, but we will be checking soon. I know my sister has made late payments recently but she has also paid off all her debt after the late payments. Her other half hasn't actually got much of a history as he hasn't really used credit.

What is the likelihood of passing a credit check at the estate agents? Is it easier passing it than getting finance for a car for instance?

Also, if me and my partner pass the credit check, but the others don't, would they still consider us to rent the house because the two of us have passed?

The house we are looking at is £900 a month and the income that we all receive together is £60000 a year, so there is NO WAY that we will be missing a payment and will always be able to pay the bills.

Please say if you've had experience of this!

  • I have a default because of Orange...?

I have a default because of unpaid balance from an Orange contract. However, I was wondering if I'd be able to get it removed either because I have a reason why I wasn't able to pay it, or if I had a case against them.

The reason for me not paying the contract was because it was in my name but wasn't my phone and was getting paid by someone else through me. However, the contract was supposed to end and they stopped paying me on the date of the contract end. Yet, the contract did not end! Orange carried the contract on, without me knowing, and I couldn't afford to pay for it as the person who had the phone didn't carry on paying for it because it was supposed to have ended.

If they don't accept this reason to remove it from my records, do I have a case with the fact that they carried on the contract after agreeing it was only for 18 months?

  • Is it Conjunctivitis?

My son is just over a week old and he has a yellow fluid coming out of one of his eyes, which dries to a yellow crust on his eyelid. Is this conjunctivitis, and am I right to wipe it away with a wet cotton wool ball?

  • Is my bleeding through pregnancy something to be concerned about?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and each time me and my partner have sex, I bleed a little. However, last time we had sex, quite a lot of blood came out and covered the sheets, with a small pea sized blood clot. The other times I bled were quite bright red, but only a little bit of blood. This last bleeding is brown and red in colour, and has lasted a couple of days now. Not enough to soak a pad but it's slowly coming out. I've had no cramping or anything. Is everything ok?
