-The question is Do you read breaking the fast Dua before, during or after you break your fast. Meaning, by before is that before you put anything in your mouth, during, meaning while you start to eat, after meaning after you have eaten something.

Ok. If you pray alone (not in congregation) do you have to recite surah fatiha aloud for "Fajar, Maghrib, and Isha" prayers? Of course along with other surah etc...!!!

-Also, if lets say you pray with 4-5 of your friends and 1 being the imam. (The Duhar azan is at 1:15 and Iqama is at 1:30). The thing is we were held up and decided to pray at 2:15. I told the brother to make the azan but they said Iqama should be sufficient. were they correct???

Progress Report

WARMUP- Before every workout I love to stretch in order to prevent an injury. Just like we sit at work all day the muscles which are in our body are sleeping before you hop right into a workout routine, I want to make sure that the muscles in my body are up and ready to do the job. First I work on my knees by reaching down towards the ground and then back up half kneeling slowly and repeating this process 10 times on each leg. Then I perform the Adductor Stretch by putting my right hand on my right knee and then stretching by pushing my whole body towards the direction of my right knee and I repeat the same step on my left knee. Then I perform a Quadriceps stretch to both of my feet. The Hamstring stretch are one of my favorite and I perform the stretch by placing the heel of my right then left foot on a bench. The last stretch I perform is the Calf muscle stretch against the wall. After all of the stretching I jog for about 5 minutes around my neighborhood.

STRENGTH- I am more interested in overall body strength rather than focusing on just a specific part of my body. For my legs I pushed against the floor by performing various exercises such as squats, step ups , lunges (with dumbbells) and dead-lifts. And for the upper body the best exercises I found were push ups, dips and pull ups. But I also tried bicep curls, tricep extensions and shoulder presses. Although pull ups are the hardest things I have done in a very long time and still they are the most challenging.

FLEXIBILITY- Every since I took PE 9 in high school my PE coach complained to me about my flexibility and told me to work to improve on my stretching to gain some flexibility. The thing is my 9th grade PE coach always made us stretch before every work-out but it changed when my 10th grade PE coach told us to jog for about 5-min and then continue with our stretching. I personally like to stretch so I won't pull any muscle when I engage in jogging. And this semester flexibility will be the biggest challenge that I will be facing.

AEROBIC ACTIVITY- I love to ride on my bicycle so one part of my routine is that I ride my bicycle for about 30 min four times a week. Also, I like to walk, jog and run at the same time. So, I gave my self a challenge and ran about 5 miles which was a bad idea. I was so tired that I couldn't lift up my legs for a few days nor push my-self to engage in any other physical activity. So, now I am back to a routine of running and jogging a mile and I plan to increase my distance to about half a mile within the next week or so. Although it is a slow transition but I am working to improve myself and it will take some time.

DIET- Well I do drink alot of soft drinks and I have decreased the intake of such harmful products and now switching to just water. I don't like anything that is diet but I am giving it a try to see if it will make a difference in terms of my health.

WEIGHT- Well, I have only lost 2 pounds so far actually, I was expecting to lose at least 5-6 pounds but it didn't happened. I did not knew that it was such a slow process. Because in the past I never actually tried to lose weight so I didn't know it was that difficult to lose even a pound. But now I know how hard I have to work to keep my diet in check in order to lose body fat. Because even if I exercise and push my body to the limit I won't lose weight unless I watch my diet.

LIFESTYLE BEHAVIOR- Well to tell you the truth my life is the same old story which repeats over and over, each and everyday. I don't smoke/drink or use tobacco or utilize any illegal drugs. I don't have time to watch television but I am surfing the Internet in my free time which, I seem to have alot off. Actually I have a great sense of humor if I get to know someone. Also, I am very optimistic and a positive thinker. Although my lifestyle has been changed since I enrolled in PED due to engaging my-self in physical activities and exercising.

Is it permissible to take Food Stamps? Here in the US government offers public benefits to low-income people, benefits may include food stamps, housing benefits, cash benefits for the unemployed etc. Are such benefits permissible, if the muslim family qualifies based on their income level.

However, someone here told me it should only be for the really poor and desperately in need. My question is specifically directed in ragards to a muslim family that does not desperately need it but would benefit, if you know what I mean. For example they can manage with their limited income but having these benefits will help them save a few bucks for something else.

Ok. A few week ago (January 27, 2012 or something) I was at the USPS office and I was trying to buy the postatge stamp for the EID holiday and I asked the lady on the desk to give me a pack of it and she said we don't have them. I asked could you check and she double checked her and her co-worker's desk but unable to locate them. Isn't that a little racist. If I had asked them to get me a HANUKKAH OR CHRISTMAS stamp it would havpoopeded right up but not the EID one!!!

What do you guys think of this?
