1 AnswerPhysics4 years agoUsing old hard drive in new computer?
So I am getting a new computer but I plan on using my old 2 tb hard drive to save money. Or are there better ways to do this?

2 AnswersMathematics6 years agoLegality of betting digital items in games?
Recently gambling has become a large part of the gaming community, such as the Counter Strike: Global Offensive community. Players can use third party sites to bet there in game items (skins for weapons). Websites include: http://csgolounge.com/ http://csgojackpot.com/
My question is not if it is legal for the payers to bet their items; but is it legal for the websites to be running in the first place? Technically the items being gambled are not real money but they can be traded for real money, although not directly (you have to use Paypal and then trade the items through the steam client to the other person).
Maybe because the websites are hosted in other countries where it is legal.
Also if the website were hosted in the United States would it still be legal because the items are not actual currency?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoVery Simple Gambling Game?
I need some ideas for a very simple gambling game. It needs to be something where everyone puts there money (or points) in at the start and one person ends up winning everything. It also needs to be something that is played very quickly (not multiple rounds etc.) And It would be good if it was mostly luck but maybe there is some sort of obscure strategy to win.
So does anyone know of any games like that? Or maybe if you can come up with an original idea That would be great too.
Thanks in advanced!!
5 AnswersGambling6 years agoWould a Blue Snowball be a decent mic to use for recording simple sound effects for a game?
I'm working on making some small games and I was wondering if a Blue Snowball mic would be decent to use for recording sound effects. I know it may not be ideal but I don't have a lot of money to spend and I can get it fairly cheap.
Just looking for some opinions. What do you think?
2 AnswersAdd-ons6 years agoDisplay driver update caused black border around screen?
So recently I decided to try to update my display drivers for my Asus Radeon HD 7770 Graphics card in hopes that it would fix some problems I was having. After I finished the update and rebooted there was a black border around my screen.
I have dual monitors, one monitors (the one with the black border) resolution is 1920x1080 and is connected via HTMI and the others is 1680x1050 and is connected via DVI. Only the monitor with the resolution of 1920x1080 has the black border not the second one.
I have also done a lot of research on how to fix this and the most common solution seemed to be to change the overscan settings but I do not have the normal Catalyst Control Center i have something called AMD Vision Engine Control Center and when I open that and go the the display settings the only option is HydraVision which does not seem to have any options to help me.
And one last thing, it seems like the image might be a bit fuzzy or blurry but that might just be a result of the smaller image.
If there are any questions just ask and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
1 AnswerMonitors7 years agoWould it be a good descision to switch my grandparents over to Linux?
My granparents are using an old Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop running windows 7 which runs very slow. I was thinking of switching them to Lubuntu if they were willing because it is very lightweight operating system and would run well in their older computer.
Processor: AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz dual core
Ram: 512Mb
Do you think this would be a good descision?
Is there another lightweight linux distro that would be easier for them to switch to?
They mainly use the laptop for web browsing, watching youtube, viewing emails and printing.

1 AnswerPacking & Preparation7 years agoWhich monitor would be better for me to get?
I am about to purchase a primary monitor to use for things such as gaming and watching movies/other videos and I was just wondering which one of these two monitors would be a better choice.
I am not concerned about the built in speakers because I mainly use headphones and my secondary monitor has built in speakers.
Monitor 1: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool...
Monitor 2: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool...
Also if you have any other suggestions let me know, I am looking for it to be about 23" or higher and to be around the $150-$180 price range.
1 AnswerMonitors7 years agoWhat is a good Briefcase for a Raspberry Pi?
I am building a mini raspberry pi computer and the last thing i need to get for it is a case and I figured a briefcase would look nice and be easy to carry around with me. I am looking for i decent looking leather (doesn't need to be real leather) briefcase.the problem is i need it to be small, like between 8x11-10x13 or close to that. the other requirement is that there needs to be 2-3 inches of space in both the top and bottom of the case so i can fit all the components in properly.
My budget is cheap so it would be nice if the case is around $20 - $30
leave any questions and I will answer them as soon as possible.
Thanks for the help!
Important: I'm not looking for a small case for the pi itself, I am looking for a small leather briefcase like the ones commonly used to carry documents and other papers / office supplies.

1 AnswerOther - Hardware7 years agoSSD Sata II and Sata III speed difference?
I am looking to get this SSD from NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
I want to use this drive as a boot drive and to hold a few larger games that I play but im not sure if it would be worth it if I hooked it up with a Sata II cable instead of a Sata III Cable.
My motherboard does not support Sata III so would I be taking a big hit on speed if I bought this drive and hooked it up Via Sata II?

1 AnswerMonitors8 years agoWhere cane I buy a cheap and small lcd monitor?
I have decided to start a small project and make a small computer with a raspberry pi and one of the main problems i am having is finding a monitor. I am looking for a monitor that is somewhere around 11 inches, but i cant seem to find anything within a good price range. I have been looking at the rear view car monitors but they are usually too small for what i want(around 7 inches) and i would like mine to be at least 9" and preferably around 11".
Also I need the input to be rca / av or hdmi(i assume most of the hdmi monitors are to expensive).
I'm looking for something around the $40 range because this is a budget build and i don't need anything special.
