  • How to fit ashort shaft outboard on 20 inch transom?

I have a nice 30 hp johnson. However its a short shaft, 15inches. My transom is 20 inches. My question could I use a Jack plate inverted to lower the motor so the Anticaviation plate sits level with the bottom of the Hull. At the moment its just under 4 inches higher. I really dont want to cut the transom. I have seen the jack plates and the "kicker" brackets.....

How tight should the balls be to the ear. Should they be snug or have a little movement. I dont mean the gauge Just the length between the balls

  • ear stretch to 10g from what is a loose 16g?

Hi all... Ok ... here the deal..... I am going to be moving towards 10g maybe 8g in the future. At the moment my ears were pierced at 20g, I lost a stud. And I had a 16g barbel which I inserted ... slowly and it slid right in with only a tiny bit of resistance at the hole at the back no pain no blood nothing it sat their nicely.....SO

It was quite loose .... Now... my question. I intend to make it up to 10g first.... With it being so loose I feel that with a lubed taper I could be able to move up to 10 quite easily. I have read that you shouldnt skip sizes. Also .. how much harder is it to put in a ring CBR I know about putting the ball on but actual insertion of the ring with it being curved and not straigh like the barbel..

  • Pierced with a Needle.....?

    Quick question....

I am a nurse conducting a little survey..

    Re piercing...

When you are pierced with a needle for regular piercing, eg ear nose cartilage .... Which do you believe.

A, You have a nice clean round hole to accept the piercing

B, The needle makes a cresent shaped cut through the tissue.

Part of a bit of research I am doing as a Nurse.. re see my other question...

  • research for your ear piercings.. Needle Gun debate.?

Being a Nurse, having worked in the ER and removed hundreds of infected piercing from just about every body part. It was noticed by a few nurses that it didnt matter what you were pierced with the infection rate was the same..

So.. my question.. How many of you who are pierced.. ( I have 4 in one Ear two in the Other. ) Ask your piercer for evidence that using a needle is better than a gun for certain pierces not only for infection rates but also for healing and damage to the cartilage or tissue of the lobe.. How many have asked for scientific research to back this up... Not just well from my experience its better.... The reason I ask is because we are all told the needle casues less Damage to the cartilage but does it... Read the following and tell me what you think

    http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S17486...

    and click Science Direct.

I am Interested beacuse as nurses we use evidenc based practice.. So do Piercers use evidence based practice which can be proven by research. My point is that you cannot tell the damage the needle or the gun does to the cartilage for just looking or feeling the ear... Now remember I am not talking about infection rates which is more sterile...

I am specifically looking at cartilage damage..

BTW I respect Piercers and do know that the great percentage pierce in sterile areas which are more sterile than hospitals.. I am also talking about ears only and only places on the ear which a gun or needle could be used...

Thnak you all for your help and time.. And remember this Dont just say needle is good gun is bad.. I really want to know especially from piercer if they have read reasearch like this ( considering there is so little about) but this is significant.....
