I got very good grades in school (80%+ average), until my last two years of highschool. Ironically that's what colleges and universities look at. I'm currently 18 and I've spent the last few months working as a freelance web developer, I have many acquaintances who asked if I could make websites for their small businesses/organizations. So from society's perspective, I already have professional experience in computer sciences. Can this help me in anyway get accepted to a college? In the long run I want to be a software developer and I'm highly motivated. I just got stuck in a rut during my last years of highschool.

I want community colleges to be my last option.

I heard there are all kinds of scholarships. Are there any scholarships for people interested in computer sciences who already know a lot of programming? what kind of scholarships are there?

I'm currently living with my parents in a small town, so to pay for college I'd also have to be paying for a place to live. I know my parents wouldn't be able to give me much financial aid, and I don't know if I'm eligible for any student loans. Would having a part time job be enough? If I work too much, I'm afraid i won't have enough time to study at home.

p.s. I did poorly in highschool and I'm trying to get back in the mix. I'd start in community college and work my way up to uni.

I graduated highschool last summer and now I'm a little lost.

I was going through some rough times (nothing dramatic), and as a result I gave little to no effort in school. I would sleep or daydream during class and put in about 10% of my effort into anything school related. I only took academic courses (uni bio, uni chem, uni physics, uni calc) and I passed with around 50% in each. I know I could have met any of the universities requirements if I tried, but that's over and done with. I'm too proud to regret what I have done, after all it's water under the bridge. But what can I do now? They won't accept me anywhere, and I don't want to keep mooching off of my parents.

I got bellow average grades in highschool because I didn't try. I don't meet the grade requirements for University (I hope hoping to get a degree in computer science/software development).

The thing is now I'm really motivated, and I already know a lot of programming, but getting a degree would improve my chances of landing a job in that field. Is there a way I can prove to a uni that I have a lot of this knowledge already?

So, I want to get a degree in programming so that getting hired by bigger companies will be easier.

However once I land the job which has a nice salary I would also like to continue studying different things for fun in university.

Is this unrealistic? Is becoming a part time university student even an option?

by low I mean 50%, I know that I need 65% to get into most colleges.

I got those lows grades mainly because my mind went on tilt and I just had no interest in the teachers methods teaching.

I want to get a degree in computer sciences (network security to be more specific). I have basic programming knowledge, however I am currently VERY motivated to learn. If I cannot get into uni/college then i will be forced to get some bullsh!t job learn on my freetime on my own.

But is there any chance of my getting into college/uni? if so, what is the quickest route? I'd rather not spend a year in community college to get a solid gpa, but if it's the only solution, then I will have to go for it.

I think I might be able to be accepted by a college, but from what I can see, then programs I'm interested take 4 years. Is it possible for me to take only the first semester, and if I have a phenomenal gpa can I get accepted to a university?

I'm rather savvy when it comes to technology and computers, so please don't baby talk me. However some programs that i try to install don't give an option for installation on a drive other than C. I'm using a small SSD that's large enough for the operating system and any drivers or updates, but it's not big enough for a full blown out program. Is there any way to trick the program when installing to make it install on another drive?

I didn't apply myself at all and I'm pretty confident that I could have had exceptionally good marks.

I'm now researching ways in how I can get to uni despite my marks, and I thought i might as well ask on this website. I live in Canada however I am willing to study pretty much anywhere.

Can I simply take the SAT which is not required here in Canada? if I get a very good mark, and if i explain my situation to the university, would i possibly get accepted?

(of coarse i plan on taking some time to study for the SAT)

I know that there isn't actual way answer this right now, but there must be a lot of well known theories right? That's what I'm looking for.

The reason I'm asking is because I heard that the universe is expanding and might possible have a given shape. If this is true, if it is indeed "expanding" then it needs to replace somethings place to obtain that bigger space. So doesn't that mean there is something beyond out universe? Theoretically. I'm not trying to get into string theory where there are tons of universes, but maybe it's somehow related? Is the universe just expanding beyond nothingness?

another question that just popped into my head, is it possible to perceive nothingness? When I try to imagine no universe and no existence of anything at all, I still somehow imagine black space around me. But that empty space is still something because it means there is room for something 3 dimensional.. uhhgg my brain is about to explode, is this why it's almost impossible to imagine the high theoretical dimensions??

I've learnt that sound is the result of vibrations, and these vibrations can be calculated into waves and lengths. But is sound anything actually physical?

I think I've read somewhere that sound can only occur due to the vibration of matter. Is this accurate? If so, doesn't that mean that sound can only occur where there are atoms? Does that mean there is no sound in a vacuum?

the MoBo and cpu are compatible I think, but I can't find any Gpu that's compatible. To be honest I don't even know how to check. I'm building a very low budget computer for a family member who won't be doing any intense video gaming or video editing. (he will be playing minecraft however which I know can take up ram, which inst an issue tbh).

How do I find a gpu compatible? Can someone possibly help find one? I don't want to be spending more then I have to. (i saw some $74 gpu but I'm not sure if their compatible, and I wouldn't not want to exceed $150).

It's very sentimental to me and I'm the only who seems to actually care about it.

I don't drink to get drunk or "buzzed" I just enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling I get in my chest when I sip some brandy. I'm also 17, and I usually do it when I'm by myself (which I also keep to myself), so it's not really anything I do as an attempt impress anyone. Anyhow, is drinking this spirit type drink unhealthy? (I do not get intoxicated with it, but is drinking it habitually risking any of my health?)
