High school and University drop-out. Currently unemployed. I enjoy learning but find it difficult to do so when other things like computer games are in competition with it. Yahoo answers helps me learn because I find it much easier to spend an hour researching someone else's question than my own. While I haven't been diagnosed, I have at least one neurological disorder and I, and some of my family, believe I have aspergers, which is a mild form of autism. This, and my strong interest in unpopular subjects like social, corporate, and government responsibility (not lying/stealing/killing) and botony, astronomy, and other 'difficult' subjects, make being around me difficult for many people. I'm deeply interested in edible wild plants. P.S. Yahoo Answers lies. I've asked 7 questions, not 4. 3 of which are not "resolved".
How can one check whether a corporation/website is trustworthy?
I was just told about this website used for buying vacant land (like hunting lots and whatnot). The thing is, they even require a credit card for a subscription to their catalogue. I'm not sure if they're legit or not...
I checked out their site: http://www.dignam.com/ and it seems legit enough... but it doesn't seem to be popular enough to have much about it on the net... Though if there's a way to verify it has indeed been around for about 90 years, that'd be good enough for me...

1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoThe bone underneath my tooth is rotting. I was given some options, which should I take?
I had a root canal on that tooth about 3 or 4 years ago. Now the bone underneath the tooth is rotting at an unknown rate. I was given a few options.
The first option is to leave it be. I don't like this option as it could blow up in my face and infection so near the brain is dangerous.
The second option is to just remove the tooth and the bad bone and leave it be. Presumeably he'd clean it up and all that, but no false teeth. Thet consequences of this is a much smaller bill, but also the surrounding teeth will likely start to lean into the hole. My roommate had two teeth removed like this like 20 years ago and she still eats fine with no pain. The dentist said it'd possibly lead to complications... but there's no certainty.
The third option is to have a (bridge?) built between my two neighbouring teeth with something in the middle resembling a tooth. This'd keep the place and apparently allow me to chew normally. This costs... I think $3000. And it'd need to be replaced in a few years (probably sooner considering the quality of my teeth and habits).
The third option is implants. While becoming a cyborg is a cool idea, I don't think it'd be quite as cool as that. It'd put me back about $5000 if my memory serves me correctly. I've heard bad things about implants... but the dentist said he'd had success with them and no serious complications.
A quick summary of my finances. I work for minimum wage. While I don't have expensive habits, I dont' have more than, like, $1000 saved up. So I'd be in debt to someone. Also, I'm going on trips during spring and summer so I'm really leaning towards leaving a hole.
Any advice? Anyone wanna recount their experiences? Thanks for your time.
3 AnswersDental1 decade agoI want to buy some wild, no road access land in Ontario but am having trouble finding more than a few...?
more than a few listings per webpage I find (many not for Ontario). So do any of you know of a good website for this kind of thing or can you give me any searching tips (like keywords for search engines)?
Would the best way to find this kind of land be to search through land registry and try to contact owners directly?
Thanks for your time.
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoHow can I get SDL to work in MinGW?
I've followed every tutorial I found, copying the SDL library files all over. As far as I know, MinGW is working fine in cmd without SDL, but when I try to compile a simple SDL program:
#include "SDL.h"
#define SCREEN_WIDTH 320
#define SCREEN_HEIGHT 240
#define SCREEN_DEPTH 8
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
SDL_Surface *screen;
Uint8 *p;
int x = 10; //x coordinate of our pixel
int y = 20; //y coordinate of our pixel
/* Initialize SDL */
SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_VIDEO);
/* Initialize the screen / window */
screen = SDL_SetVideoMode(SCREEN_WIDTH, SCREEN_HEIGHT, SCREEN_DEPTH, SDL_SWSURFACE);
/* Make p point to the place we want to draw the pixel */
p = (Uint8 *)screen->pixels + y * screen->pitch + x * screen->format->BytesPerPixel;
/* Draw the pixel! */
*p=0xff;
/* update the screen (aka double buffering) */
SDL_Flip(screen);
while(1);
}
I get the following errors:
C:\... Temp/ccih015Q.o:anotherhello.cpp:(.text+0x1c): undefined reference to 'SDL_Init'
C:\... Temp/ccih015Q.o:anotherhello.cpp:(.text+0x40): undefined reference to 'SDL_SetVideoMode'
C:\... Temp/ccih015Q.o:anotherhello.cpp:(.text+0x7d): undefined reference to 'SDL_Flip'
C:/MinGW/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/3.4.5/../../../libmingw32.a(main.o):main.c:(.text+0xbd): undefined reference to 'WinMain@16'
collect2: 1d returned 1 exit status.
I just don't know what to do now...could it be a problem with my CPU not being supported? I'm using AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
After hours and hours of trying to get compilers to work and reading through much more advanced tutorials/documentation than I'm ready for, I'm at my wits end :(
