Disrespectful close friend - not who you thought she was?
Hi :)
My friend and I are both 14, and we have known each other for a year. It may not seem like much, but she helped me solve a really sticky situation earlier in the year - one that almost sent me spiraling into depression. Ever since then, I've been quite close to her and we've shared a lot of secrets (as most 14 year old girls do). However, recently I feel like she isn't as respectful as I thought she was. At first there were little signs e.g. she always interrupted me halfway through sentences and as soon as I would continue talking I would get a shower of spit as she 'shhh'-ed me >:(
But one thing that really ticked me off happened 2 weeks ago. I was getting called into the principal's office because of a lot of racism that was directed towards me from a girl I don't really get a long with.... the issue had NOTHING to do with this close friend, who insisted to come into the principal's office with me. At first, I thought she was trying to be supportive so I told her it would make me a lot more comfortable if I went alone, because I didn't want her seeing the 27 pages of insults this girl had sent me. After arguing for 15 minutes, she pushed me aside and walked into the principal's office. After the meeting, I asked her why she didn't respect my decision of going to the principal's office by myself and she responded by telling me that the same girl had called her fat once. When we were 10. When we were ALL fat.
I was a little upset by this, but the ongoing issue is her disrespect towards my religion. I'm not going to say what it is, because it isn't relevant to the story, but every time the delicate topic of religion comes up at lunch, she begins her 5 hour rant on how stupid my religion is, and how stupid I am for believing it. I love my religion, it's who I am, and I have never tried to force my religion on anybody because I understand not everybody believes in the same thing. I have always respected other people's choices, it's just how I was raised. All I ask in return is the same respect I give to her, am I asking for too much?
Thank you so so much for reading this, I truly appreciate it :)
