  • Brand new Asus GeForce 210 giving BSOD before I can install drivers?

I just built an Antec 300 and put a 500 GB Hard Drive in it that was in my old computer and has Windows XP and 7 on it.

I want to back it up and format it. But when i turned it on, both Windows XP and 7 give me a blue screen before it could reach the logon screen (during the Windows logo).

I'm pretty sure it's the graphics card- the screen blinks for a split second before displaying the BSOD. It did come with a CD, but how could I install drivers when I can't even get to Windows? I have tried Safe Mode, does the same thing.

It has an Asus GeForce 210, 4 GB of RAM, dual install Windows XP and Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, 500GB SATA HDD, Asus Deluxe Sli-M2N motherboard, AMD processor (don't know which), and 4 USBs- Mouse keyboard external hdd (powered off) and monitor (usb extension). The monitor is connected by DVI.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Do the stock fans on the Antec 300 have heat sensors?

The Antec 300 I have came with an Asus Deluxe Sli-M2N motherboard, and a 3-Switch fan on the front, top, and back. Got It from someone else. I want to know if, for example, I play a game such as Halo, would the fans go higher when the tower gets hotter? Or do I actually have to manually use each fan's switch to make them higher? That would be annoying. As of right now, I'm waiting for a SATA cable to use the hard drive in it so I can't try it out yet.

  • When there is a 4 pin connector port in a motherboard, will the computer work without it?

I am almost done with building a computer, using an Antec 300 case with a Asus Deluxe M2N-SLI motherboard, 4 GB of RAM, an Asus GeForce 210 graphics card, and a Kentek 400w 24-pin power supply. The problem is I love the case, but the power supply goes on the bottom. Asus put the 4-pin port on the very top of the motherboard, so the 4-pin connector can't reach all the way up there.

Well I tried to turn the tower on, and it does turn on but does the same thing it would do with the older 20-pin power supplies I've tried with it. The fans turn on, the power light turns on, everything turns on then the activity light lights up and the whole thing shuts down before displaying anything on the screen or even making a beep code.

So is it because I never put in the hard drive (I'm waiting for the SATA connector cable) because it turned off when the hard drive light lit up, or because I didn't plug in that 4-pin power cable?

If it's because of that power cable, is it possible to get an extension for it?

Thanks for reading this long question. Please give a useful answer...

  • Which is better for a Windows XP laptop- Windows 7 or Windows 8?

I have an old Dell Inspiron 600m running Windows XP with 1.5 GB of RAM, and I would like to upgrade the OS to either Windows 7 or Windows 8 (Price doesn't matter). Which is going to be less stressful to my computer and which would run better? If it takes alot of it's power to run it, I would think it would shorten my laptop's life by alot. I need it to last.

    Thanks in advance

  • How can I replace the Windows 7 MBR with the Windows XP MBR?

I tried the fixmbr command from the Windows XP Recovery Console, but it said it was replaced with a new MBR and when i restarted the Windows 7 one was still there.

What happened was that I had two partitions, one running XP (which is the OS the computer was designed for) and the other I installed 7 on. When I installed 7, it made an MBR that said Windows 7 or Earlier Version of Windows. If i don't do anything, it will automatically choose Windows 7.

Later i uninstalled 7 and deleted the partition (I may reinstall it, not sure yet) and when the computer boots, it would still automatically choose Windows 7 (Which no longer exists on my PC).

Normally I would be fine with this, but my family gets confused when they see it and don't know the difference between Windows 7 and Windows XP. So, I want to change it back to normal. Thanks for any help.

  • Bluetooth not detected in Asus Eee PC 1100PX?

I was given an EeePC for a year, and besides that all the function keys on the keyboard besides the brightness and sleep button aren't working and I can't find drivers for it, but the Bluetooth that is supposed to be included doesn't seem to exist. Instead i see the Atheros Ethernet and Wireless drivers. But I also see a Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter which I'm guessing is the Bluetooth with the wrong driver. I found two Bluetooth drivers for the EeePC on Asus' official site, and both of them say there's no Bluetooth device installed. Any ideas? Thanks

  • What PCI graphics card is a good upgrade for a Dell Dimension 3100?

I'm upgrading my desktop to Windows 7 from XP Pro, and the only issue (besides drivers) the test says that I have is the Intel Integrated Graphics Adapter that I have. It will work, but not well enough for the Aero feature. Can someone recommend a good upgrade? A price $60 or less would be good if possible.

Specs: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 2 GB of RAM

    Thanks, I'll check back often.

  • Can you help me update drivers on a Compal dcl561?

I used DriverManager but of course i need to buy it to update the 19 drivers it found...I got this laptop for free.

I did mean Compal, not Compaq. I never heard of Compal before i had this myself...

Anyways, Windows Update didn't see any of those updates that are needed and it doesn't seem to be able to be found on Google. It would help alot if somebody could help me find them.

Also, I'm trying to boot from a USB and apparently the BIOS is too old to do that. I would like to update the BIOS too. This is the version: COMPAL Version 1.40T1, 2/18/2005

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

    Mike

  • Asus Eee PC Seashell Series 1011PX wakes up from sleep by itself?

It has Windows 7 Professional, (came with Starter) if you need more details let me know; I'll check back on this question often.

Whether i use the Start Menu, the keyboard function, or just close the lid to put it on Stand By, after a couple of minutes it just turns itself back on, closed or not. Doesn't make a difference if it's plugged in or not either.

    Thanks in advance

  • How to speed up a Dell Dimension 3000?

I just can't think of anything else to do besides upgrading the parts (again). I defragmented it, made it's Hard Drive have 45 GB free (out of about 75 GB), made sure there are no viruses with 3 Anti-Viruses, had my RAM upgraded from 256 MB to 512 MB, used different kinds of tuners (Mainly CCleaner), and cleaned it out of dust.

I don't have the copy of the Windows XP disc that was used on it, since a pro installed it when it crashed (before I knew much about computers). Before he did that, by the way, it was going really slow, too. After he formatted and reinstalled it, it went faster. Do I need to get the CD somehow and format it?

Anything I can do that won't cost too much money? (Under $50, free would be great...)

  • Is the Ipod Touch 2nd Generations's iOS no longer being updated?

It's been quite a while since I've seen the iOS update on ITunes. It's been stuck at iOS version 4.2.1. Is my iPod now out-of-date and is no longer able to receive updates?

I'm pretty sure the current iOS is at least 5.

  • How can I make a HP Pavilion 511n run Project64?

    Hi,

I tried to run PJ64 on my just-revived HP Pavilion 511n which is running Windows XP. The problem seems to be that the display card isn't compatible with DirectX3D6 (that's what it said, at least). Aren't Windows XP computers supposed to work fine with DirectX3D? I can run the 3D screensavers which require it, and the drivers say that they are updated.

How do I get it to work?

(Let me know if you need more info)

  • How do you switch Microsoft Office 2010 on one computer with Microsoft Office 2003 on another?

    Hi,

I have Office 2010 installed on an old IBM Thinkpad and Office 2003 installed on a slightly newer Dell. Office 2010 is too big and slow for the IBM, so I wanted to move it to the Dell, and at the same time move the Office 2003 to the IBM.

The only problem is that both copies of Office are only allowed to be installed on one PC at a time, so I don't know if it will stay activated, even if I uninstall them to switch them.

If they will, how do I deactivate them in order to reactivate them after the switch?

  • How often should you scan your PC for viruses?

Just opinions, I would say a quick scan every week or so, and a full scan at least once a month.

  • Where is the intake fan on a Dell Dimension 3000?

I know it's in the front somewhere, but every computer is different.

I wanted to put a fan next to it, facing the area where the intake fan is, so that the computer stays cool because it's getting old...

Also, will this help quiet down the recent noise it's fans has been making? It was cleaned out of dust recently, and it's not that hot in here, so it might be just because it's old?

I think it was set up here in 2004 or 2005.
