Help replacement power cord????
I lost the battery charge cord to my Panasonic SDR-T55 camcorder. Anyone know where I can find another one?
2 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoPlease click, need help with idea??
Sorry about that. Have you noticed that titles with a lot of punctuation, receive way more attention?
Anyway, I need help with a wall I hit in my plot;
In my book, special blessed candles are being stolen. The group of characters find out that they are being melted (the wax) and poured into hollow bamboo staffs, causing them to become magical and blessed.
That whole part kicked off the beginning of a war between two rival groups; the Netju (good) and the Samuaii (bad). Then the Empress (whom the Netju have sworn to protect at all cost) is kidnapped by the Samuaii who also begin attacking.
So the group has to go save the Empress, before war breaks out, because the Netju are currently holding back in fear for their Empress.
But along the way, I've lost a new purpose for the staffs. They really are like the coolest part of the book. I thought about having some prophecy about them where the MC's are destined to have extra special staffs that will end the war or something, but prophecies seem so cliche.
Any ideas for a use for the weapons?
Oh, by the way, the magic of the staffs are that they are able to change their form into any type of weapon based on the wielder's thoughts. And only a Netju or Samuaii can use them, because they're blessed by their god.
So any ideas?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHelp with a character name click?!?!?
Okay so there's a character I have where her last name is pronounced Dare-tee-us
I don't really know how to spell it because Dartius would be pronounced Darr-tee-us and Daretius looks weird. Is there any accent or symbol or some way to write it better?
Thanks!
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHawaiian Ninjas, Please answer???
One of my brother's friends lived in Hawaii for a while. he said that there were some teenagers who would hide in trees and ambush non-natives. i don't know if they just pranked the person, or jumped them but he says that they are Hawaiian Ninjas.
Is he right? He did live there for a while (I think most of his childhood. Definitely a couple years though.) I'm also not entirely sure if I got the story right, as I heard it second-hand from my brother. Are there really Hawaiian Ninjas?
I know I sound semi-ignorant but trust me my brother is not just joking with me. Although his friend might be, but he doesn't seem like that kind of guy.

I need some help on a character I'm working on. Jasco is the leader/founder of the Samauii, a huge clan of "rebels" (rather cruel and jealous of the Empress) who have just kidnapped the Empress.
“My Lord!” Jasco glanced up as a soldier ran into the room, clutching a letter.
“What is it you got?” He asked gruffly, sitting up in his throne. The soldier bowed hurriedly and Jasco noticed it was one of his newer recruits, not yet put in a battle against the Netju.
“Sir, our spy has responded!” He said excitedly. Jasco nodded, searching for the young man’s name. Ah yes, Genjo.
“Well Gen, what did he say? Who did Eiji send after the empress?” He asked patiently, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. New recruits could be so ignorant. Genjo smiled, reading the letter condescendingly.
“They’re sending a bunch of kids!” He cried in disbelief, laughing. Jasco frowned.
“How many?” The soldier flashed a puzzled look, glancing down at the paper again.
“Looks like six, including the-“
“Yes, yes I know. When will they be here?” Jasco asked impatiently, already planning in his head.
“Sir you don’t actually see them as a threat, do you? They’re a bunch of kids; by the look of it they even have a young boy traveling with them!” Genjo said, disbelief clouding his judgment. No senior soldier would speak to the Samuaii Lord that way. Jasco smiled at his boldness.
“Let me educate you on the Netju my friend. They’re tough, and fast. They start training when they’re toddlers and never stop. Each one specializes in a specific deadly weapon, and believe me they know how to use it.” Jasco said, tracing a large scar that ran from his temple to his chin. “They travel in Bonds, teams that can have as many as eight members. They hide, sneak and kill as fast as possible. They’re honorable, but aren’t concerned with earning it. If they want the fight to be over, they’ll end it. And trust me; they will win this war if we let them get the Empress back.” Jasco said harshly, ignoring the soldier. It was a troubling situation, and while they were just kids, a team of six was worrying, when most of the guards were away fighting Bonds.
“If you’ll excuse me, I have to go to the War Chamber. Send a letter back out immediately. Instruct that the spy is not to send any more messages unless he sees something especially troubling.” Jasco was no fool. These kids had a trick up their sleeve, and he had to find out what it was.
“Yes Sir!” Genjo said, watching as his lord left the chamber. His eyes dropped to the letter again. With a final gesture, he crushed the paper and threw it into the fireplace, leaving the room.
Does he seem like the ruler of a type of group that would kill a woman in cold blood, for example? I'm not sure if he conveys the leader of the barbarians type...

5 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoPlease click this I'm not sure, need help?!?!?!?!?
I think I have chiroptophobia because every time I have a bat near me (as in in sight) I have a panic attack. The closer it is to me, the worse the attack is. Of course it's different if they're enclosed. I still wouldn't want to go up super close but I wouldn't do that to a cage full of tarantulas either...
Basically my fear stems from bats being able to get into my attic and then in to my room, generally when my lights are out or I'm calm with no music/on my computer. You know, getting ready for bed. I hate how they fly, how fast they are, and they're creepy hissing/chirping noise. I just had one get in so I'm still experiencing some of my panic attack.
I guess what I'm asking is do you think I have Chiroptophobia, as generally those are extreme fears coupled with panic/anxiety attacks? Is it rational, or common?
An you can tell me if you have a phobia, because it will make me feel less.....ashamed? or embarrassed, as my dad laughed at me. He didn't mean it but he doesn't "get" my fear because my bats are "cute". Like hell they are.
Also-anyway I could deal with this fear? Without locking me in a room full of bats, because I'm almost positive that will not help.

4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIf I'm trying to get published should I...?
I've been writing a book and posting the chapters up on writerscafe.org. I've finished five chapters so far. But eventually I want to be able to publish it, so I was wondering if it's a good idea to post the entire book or just stop after about half the chapters to not give anything away when it is published?
Also, will lit agents/publishers/editors care that it was/is posted online when i submit my work?

5 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHow is this so far.....?
Jed walked through the random sprouts of bamboo, mist still clinging to the tall branches, unwilling to let the morning sun melt them away. Jed had woken up that morning and saw that his Bond had left early to the Nejuii River and it was the perfect place for an ambush. This was just another chance to prove to his friends they had to be more vigilant. He grinned grimly as voices echoed through the brush. They aren’t even trying to mask the noise! He moved forward cautiously, eyes intent on the ground, looking to avoid sticks that may be in his path. He was at the edge of the forest lines now and could see through the foliage the people grouped around the river bank. But wait… Jed frowned internally. There was Maya and Miyu but where was…
“Gotcha!” A large hand clapped down on Jed’s shoulders, turning him around. Jed was greeted by the smug look on Riku’s face, his Bond’s fourth member and Jed’s best friend since he arrived at Camp Zed-Jria. In the beginning the boys had been very competitive, but when the time came to choose their specialized weapon, they chose differently. Jed decided to pursue a career as a master swordsman, while Riku preferred the “unarmed” version of weapons; metal fists with claws attached, foot spikes and of course flying needles; small spikes with ‘wings’ attached so they’re able to fly long distances. That was also when the four of them were bonded together into a team, and when Jed took over as leader. Since then their rivalry has diminished somewhat but they still try to best each other at deception and detection. Riku grinned at Jed’s annoyed face and pulled him up. Riku was big, with toned muscles and huge, where Jed was of medium stature and nimble, his muscles not quite as bulging. But they were both tan from being high up, near the sun, and could pass as brothers.
“Let’s you and me go meet the girls eh?” Riku laughed, pulling Jed alongside him through the leaves, calling out to their teammates.
“Hey Miyu! Maya! Look who decided to catch us by surprise!” The twins turned and giggled at the sight of their leader being hauled along. Miyu and Maya looked exactly alike, the only difference being their hair; Miyu’s was straight, and Maya’s birthmark above her lip. But they didn’t enjoy the view for very long before Jed quickly twisted out of his friend’s hold. Riku laughed and motioned him over to the water, where the girls were still glancing at them in amusement. Riku sidled over to Maya, where she was braiding up her hair into four long black twists.
“So what’d you think of the show Miss Maya?” Riku asked politely, sitting down next to her on the rock. Maya rolled her eyes tiredly.
“Leave it to Jed to turn even a relaxing day into a lesson.” She grumbled while Jed flashed her an annoyed look. She quickly responded with a sweet smile and Jed turned away, shaking his head.
“I’m sure Jed didn’t just come to ruin our fun.” Miyu said calmly, sticking out her tongue when Jed turned incredulously toward her.
“And here I thought at least you would stick up for me! And by the way Miyu was right, I do have a report.” Jed looked around proudly, obviously expecting everyone to badger him about his all-important news. When the others just exchanged looks he turned away, disgusted.
“You guys are hopeless! It’s very important information!!” Miyu laughed and grabbed his arm, pulling him down next to her,
“Oh relax Jed! We were only playing.” She glared meaningfully at the others, who quickly assented. Jed rolled his eyes but focused now that he had his Bond’s attention. Play time was over and he became the collected leader of the group. The others were immediately on edge, knowing only too well that Jed only got like this when he had bad news. Last time, one of their sister’s at camp had died. Now what?
“Well as you know, there have been some break-ins to the sacred temples all over Puritayii. And the only items stolen were the golden candles.” Miyu quickly cut in.
“Don’t forget the bamboo stalks.”
“Not forgetting the bamboo,” Jed acknowledged, “And another break-in happened last week. Samu Eiji only found out today.” He said, naming the group’s mentor and leader at the camp. He had taken them all in and taught them to survive as members of the Netju clans.
“Um, so why does Eiji think it’s so important?” Riku asked, raising his hand mockingly. Jed shot him a look before continuing.
“The most recent robbery was in Eiji’s home town temple. One of his old friend's daughters works there as a servant, and she told a rather odd story. Says she walked in while a Samuaii assassin was taking the candles. Apparently he taunted her. Something along the lines of ‘you’re praising the wrong god, girl. Better start praying to Soltu now, before the Samuaii take charge. We won’t have room for non-believers’.”
The others glanced uneasily at each other, their bright morning now seemingly covered in gloom, despite the sun streaming through the mountain clouds. Fi

2 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoMy character in book-----help?
So in my new book, the main protagonist is evil. Like really evil. To give you a hint; he pulled out a (unloaded) gun in the middle of Times Square to scare some second-graders on a feild trip.
I know stupid but hey I only said evil. Never said evil genius.
Oh and he's only 15.
Anyway to the point-to emphasize his evil-ness I was going to put in some kind of evil thoughts like dreaming of someone being smashed by a fly swatter. Would this make everyone hate my protagonist, because he has to be likable?

1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat is wrong with Politicians? (USA)?
First of all, I'm not talking about every single politician in existence. Mainly I'm talking about the extremists.
But why are politicians (republicans and democrats especially) always trying to discredit each other. They're so busy with their political career thjey forget they're supposed to be helping America! With all the fights going on, it seems the Republicans are so upset Obama won the election they're doing everything in their power to stop him from making progress, so come re-election time they can say he hasn't achieved anything. Why are they all acting like three year olds, can't they see the rest of America needs their help more than their issues with each other. Their ideas and thoughts aren't terribly different from each other, yet all they care about is insulting each other to try and sway the people to like them. What does that do for them? Don't they realize that id they fail to help America, they will no longer have a career?

2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHow do you come up with ideas?
I'm a writer and I don't know a lot of other writers. When i try to explain how I get my ideas no one really gets it! Do you understand, and how do you come up with ideas?
Okay so for me, whether I'm dreaming or awake, it feels like a scene from a movie I watched is playing in my head. I can hear voices and everything and get flashes of all these different scenes. Although unfortunately I don't usually see names, faces and the scenes normally come from the middle of the book (not helpful for someone who struggles with beginnings lol) when they come to me I'm usually either blanking out (during school : P) or half awake/half asleep. Does anyone else see the scene "flashes"? and how do you come up with you ideas?
