  • In the Army, what is the next promotion after Specialist: Corporal or Sergeant?

Just noticing the pay scale for Specialist and Corporal are the same. I heard Corporal is not used much anymore and just wonder which comes next.

  • Are these symptoms stress-related?

History: had breathlessness and chest pain/pressure on exertion last August. Cardiac catheter revealed a 99% blockage in LAD, which was stented. In January, had full contrast of heart done and it was perfect with no obstructions.

I went to the cardiologist a couple of months ago for a regular checkup. He asked how I was feeling and I told him I didn't feel right. My husband told me I should tell him that, and with little discussion of symptoms, the doc told me I was fine and was probably experiencing stress. that was possible, as we faced a busy summer which included a wedding that is now behind us. He offered me a scrip for sedative and I declined. I was polite but insulted. I told my husband the next time I saw that man would either be at my scheduled appointment or on a gurney.

Now I'm having night sweats every night, breathlessness again on exertion and my pulse won't go down below 100. Perhaps it's stress, but I'd like to know what someone else thinks since the stressors are all gone. I am tired all the time, but sleep has been interrupted by all the sweating.

  • Can I wear an Army Ranger baseball cap if I have a deployed family member?

I have a family member that is deployed as a Ranger. Someone gave me a cap that says "Ranger" on it. It's not from his official uniform, but I am wondering if it's in bad form to wear it out of the house. Is there anyone "Army" out there that knows about this?

  • What to wear to a formal beach wedding in the dominican republic?

My nephew is getting married this winter in the Dominican Republic. It's a daytime wedding on the beach but his fiance says it's formal. What does "formal" mean in the D.R.? (She says it's dressier than church but not the slinky evening wear).

  • How long should I leave my dog outside after applying frontline?

They have fleas and I want to make sure the fleas that aren't killed don't have a chance to jump off my dogs in the house.

  • Would this be heart symptoms or just in my head?

My cholesterol is high (untreated for 8 to 10 years) and it ranges between 300 & 500 (That's total, not just the bad stuff). I am pre-diabetic (went diabetic 4 pregnancies but pulled out of it), and am having some borderline high blood pressure (ranges from 130/80 to 150/90). I'm about 25 lbs overweight and have been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome and fatty liver (a couple of years ago). That's the history.

I decided to try and become more active and have started to use a treadmill. Since my hubby had a double bypass, I am trying to be wise and use a polar heart monitor. I found when my pulse gets to 135 I have a pulling in my jaw and at 140 my left shoulder (in front) feels BAD. I can't describe it but it is really bad, not painful but uncomfortable. Since using the heart monitor, I have found my pulse rarely goes under 100.

Is this a profile? Do I need to see a doctor? We changed to a high deductible insurance this year and I don't want to waste a visit if this is just me being overly self-absorbed.

  • Pain management for post-surgical dog?

I have a 13-year-old dog who just had an injured nail removed and plaque removed from her teeth. I was given Rimadyl to administer for pain; however, I have just read that geriatric dogs have a higher incidence of complications (organ failure or death) and am concerned that this med might not be right. Is there anything else I can give her to alleviate the pain?

  • When the zetia website states this, what does it mean?

The effect of ZETIA on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality has not been determined.

Am I paying $250 a month to field test my liver? Or am I actually hedging my bet against a cholesterol number above 300-400?

  • My father-in-law has end stage liver disease. What is happening to him now?

Last week they drained over a gallon of liquid from his abdomen while he spent two days in the hospital. Today he was non-responsive and taken to the hospital by ambulance. He's in ICU and the family has learned his liver is no longer functioning. My son just went into Army boot camp and I am wondering if I should contact the Red Cross to let him know or wait. So many emotions with this one!
