  • What is your OTP/Ship?

An OTP stands for One True Pairing. In other words, any two fictional characters that you think belong together forever (for example, Harry and Ginny). Straight or gay/lesbian, I don't care. Tell me what your OTP is!

  • Why do some girls put on a baby voice when talking to their boyfriends/love interests?

I see/hear this all the time. These girls will be talking to their girl-friends normally and then when their boy walks in they pitch their voices much higher.

    Why???

(And if you're a guy, what do you think?)

  • Do you prefer silent protagonists or active protagonists?

    Usually applies to videogames:

A silent protagonist is one that does not speak at all (like the Pokemon trainers or like Gordon Freeman from Half Life)

The other kind of protagonist speaks and has actual dialogue (like the Assassin's Creed characters).

    Pick one! :)

  • Are you afraid that you'll end up alone?

I am resigned to it now. Never dated anyone ever, and I'm already halfway through college.

  • Dizzy after NyQuil (Regular Dosage Amt)?

I took a single dose of Nyquil last night before bedtime (2 capsules) and when I woke up this morning I was alarmingly dizzy. I am still dizzy (the exact sensation would be extreme lightheadedness) and find myself feeling like I'm about to pass out...

It's been like this for about 8 hours now. (Posting this at 4:23PM, woke up around 8:00AM)

I am a female, 19 years old, and around 120 lbs. I didn't drink any alcohol or mix drugs, and I ate my dinner and lunch :) .

Any doctors in the house? Or pharmacists? Or practicing nurses? Or med students? Or just really awesome people?

  • Macbook keyboards are sooo loud?

I can just tell if someone has a MacBook by just hearing them type. I don't even have to look. I can be in the library doing work and hear a MacBook all the way on the other side of the (huge) room.

My roommate has one and she's woken me up several times by just TYPING. I actually need to insert earplugs or use headphones to listen to music to mask that loud noise.

    Anybody else agree?

  • Why do people say "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less"?

I am just curious to know why and when the "NOT" part got dropped. Seems to me like it just completely reverses the meaning of the sentence. :P

I've always wondered this...what do you think?

  • Do you think Macs and/or other Apple products are annoying?

This sounds so stupid, but I can actually tell if someone has a MacBook or not just by hearing them type. The keyboards make a distinctively annoying, loud clatter sound. I can be at one end of a library and hear the keyboard sounds from the other end.

Also, my roomate has a iPhone as well, and apparently once the alarm goes off, it KEEPS GOING OFF until you turn it off. So annoying. I don't think there's an option to make the alarm not do that. Ugh.

  • Do you smack your food when you eat?

My roommate smacks her food every day, regardless of how hard or chewy the food is. She just opens her mouth all the way. You can really see the food inside.

    So, do you? And why???

  • My friend annoys me (and sometimes I think she is coming on to me)?

...First things first. We are both young women in college. I am straight, I think she might be bisexual/lesbian/questioning.

This sounds terrible, but I can only stand my friend for short periods of time. If I'm around her more than I would like to be, I start to go crazy. This is why:

    1. She has no sensitivity! All of her friends and I always get offended when she says something quite rude. For example, one of us is poor and she constantly makes fun of it, even driving the girl to tears!

    2. I think she is racist. She picks on one of us because she is German, and derides Asians all the time, even complaining about how she hates her Asian hallmates because they speak Chinese and it sounds ugly to her. And she always shoots down other races (for example, saying Asians only make good grades because they have nothing else to do than study)

    3. She's always saying how much we are alike! I certainly don't think so! And she's always going on about how everybody except her (and ME?) will be married within the next 10 years. She always says that no guy would be interested in either of us.

    4. STORY TIME: Once she told my other friend that her vision of the future would be this: she and I would be the only ones unmarried after 15 years, and that we'd just move in together out of loneliness. Then everyone would think that we're together because we'd live together, and eventually we would get together for real. When she told the story to us, she said it in a jokey kind of way, but then she couldn't look at me and didn't say anything else.

    5. She ALWAYS always always comes and seeks me out in big lecture classes. My god, I just wanna be alone just for one day...But no matter how many times I hint at her that I don't like sitting with friends in lectures, she just keeps on searching for me...And then she'll talk, too! She'll make snide comments that apparently she thinks is funny, but just makes me irritated.

What do you guys think? Is this bad of me to avoid her? Or, alternatively, just rant about your own friends.

  • Do you think I have a right to be insulted? Is my family neglecting me?

I know my family has always been busy, but I feel like they never make an effort to talk to me. My sister and I are both in college, away from home. My mother calls my sister on a regular basis and talks to her at least four times a week, whereas it has been a full three weeks without any word form my family back home. Every time I DO talk to my family, it has ALWAYS been me who has tried calling...and since I don't want to bother my family, I only end up talking to them twice a week.

Now, this time around, I have been trying to call my family back home since it is nearing finals and I just want to talk to them before I can't anymore. But every time I call, no one picks up...or calls back. I even texted my mom and dad a few times, asking them to tell me when they're available, but they never responded...

Until yesterday, when I sent a very angry and ticked off text to them, asking them (in an inpatient tone) to just text me "what day was good for them, as it seemed they were busy every day for the last three weeks". Apparently my mom got upset and told my sister (who had come home for the weekend, as her college is closer) about it, because my sister texted me to stop being such a b*tch, and that "nobody wants to talk to me if I'm such a b*tch".

After that text, my mom called, but I was so incensed I turned off my phone. After that I kept ignoring the calls until tonight, when I decided to call them. After picking up, my mom barely got two words out before my sister asked her a question, and she hung up, telling ME to call back (not "I'll call you back").

I'm so infuriated right now and I don't know what to think!! I feel like my family neglects me more than my other siblings (i.e. my one-year-younger sister).

What do you think? Do I have a right to be so insulted and angry? If not, how should I forget about it?

  • Am I imagining things? Is she trying to tell me she likes me?

First off, I am a straight female, a fact that will become much more relevant soon in this story.

I have (had?) a female friend. We are both college freshmen. Now, this friend is stereotypically butch--blunt mannerisms, disdain of males, etc, so our whole "group" all knew she was a lesbian. However, we never really talked about it with her or each other, as we are all pretty liberal anyways, and it didn't really matter to us.

I liked this girl's company very much--we both liked the same shows and video games. Since I had more time than the others, and since we had the same classes, I hung out with her more. I really considered her to be one of my "besties"...until she started acting out.

She started to behave even more bluntly--before, she only answered sarcastically to our groups' "silly" escapades, but now she started to deride everybody and everything, even to the point of hurting some of our feelings, or, in the rest of our cases, annoying us to the extreme. She also showed (and admitted to later) a superiority complex--whenever one of us said something like, "I got a good score on my test!!" (etc.), she would say, "Really? Was it above the standard deviation like mine?" (no joke). When we joshed about her behavior, she took on an extremely defensive manner and told us to "go f*** ourselves", much to our shock (she usually is not that vulgar).

Then comes the WEIRD part...so one of our group is an ally, and our college has this LGBT blog that she frequents. So our friend in question writes a blog, coming out...but the awkward part is that she came out to a specific person. And that person would be...me. Yep. She used really awkward phrases, like, "I swear we have the same brain" or "we end up doing everything together"...in fact the whole blog was somewhat focused on me (and addressed to me!), in a really awkward way.

The blog wasn't actually meant to be seen by me--however, my ally friend who frequented the blog linked me (in some weird kind of support for this other friend) and I read it (with much cringing). The thing is, we all knew she was a lesbian. The problem is, I'm not, and even before this blog was written I started to hate this girl's guts (due to the aforementioned reasons).

I DON'T think we have "the same brain" or that we are "just alike" as she said--in fact, I argue with her all the time now about the way she treats people. After the blog post, I started to wonder if she was trying to say something that I am not at all comfortable with. I couldn't confront her because she is extremely defensive, like I said. But I noticed that now she always tries to hang out with me, always tries to sit next to me, and even (creepily) tries to touch me (like pushing hair out of my face or whatever). Then I catch her staring at me ALL the time when nobody else is paying attention. She even wanted to be my roommate next year, and was highly upset when I told her I wanted a single.

What do YOU think? Do you think she (brace yourself) "likes" me? Or do you think I'm overreacting to the blog post? If I am, what do you think she is actually trying to say?

My professor asked us to write a paper in that style, but I have no idea what that is...

  • Do you "feel" wrinkles forming when you're stressed?

I know this more of a psychological feeling than anything else, but sometimes when I'm particularly overworked I can feel gray hairs growing or a pimple popping out or frown wrinkles coming out.

    How about you?
