I'm currently an exercise science major at the University of Kansas and have been resistance training for about 5 years to date. I have a strong interest in physiology, in particular exercise physiology, and human anatomy. I hope to be a personal trainer when I graduate and get a masters in physical therapy. Whatever I do, I want to help people meet their goals, whether it's to become as big as godzilla, loose weight, or become healthy in general. Educating people of the realities of health and exercise science is important to me, as many supplement companies and advertisement campaigns are geared towards the ill informed. • Laptop Display Issue?

    Here's my issue;

My laptop display does not work when I boot up in normal mode. The display lights up and shows the windows OS loading screen and just before it gets to the user sign-in screen it goes black. In safe mode this does not happen and the display works fine, which leads me to believe it is an issue with my dedicated graphics card. My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 425M, currently I am running with driver version 314.22

Things which make my situation more unique are:

I have already reinstalled the driver

When I boot up with an external display (which I usually do), both the external display AND the laptop display work just fine. -Plugging in an external display also causes both the external display and laptop display to work properly if I boot up without the external plugged in, then plug it in when the screen turns black.

I have issues when loading league of legends in which the client only loads a fourth of the screen and I need to reload the client when a game is starting.

I was having issues with the computer simply turning off while playing league of legends (mostly during the loading screen), but this has stopped since I reinstalled the driver.

That's everything I can think of for now. Right now I'm going to do a clean install with an older driver to see if that does anything, will check back here soon. Thanks.

  • A good cook book for beginners?

I enjoy cooking but I feel a lot of the things I cook I could have cooked better if I used better seasonings or cooked them at a different heat or with a different method ect. So does anyone know of a good beginners cook book that I can find easily and teaches the basics of preparing food in a successful way? I don't want recipes, I want to know the methods of preparation. For instance I often feel I cook meat too quickly because I don't know how high to put the heat, and the inside doesn't cook and the outside burns. All input is appreciated.

  • Budgie that won't give up...?

So I have two male budgies that are constantly "fighting". One constantly follows the other around trying to feed it or something non aggressive (from what it looks like), but the other wants nothing to do with him and chases him away sometimes quite aggressively. Sometimes he will even bite at the persistent budgies feet and grab or kick him with his feet to get him to leave him alone. These budgies are kept in separate cages and are both paired with separate budgies, but I would like to let them all out to play at once instead of having to have one pair out and in pair locked up at all times, especially since all the pair that's out ever does is sit on the locked up pairs cage looking like they want them to come out and play. I've given some thought to clipping the pursuing budgies wings to maybe he will calm down or at least cant follow the other budgie when he doesn't want to be followed, what are your thoughts on that? Any other solutions? I've tried playing moderator and not letting them attack each other while I'm by them, but as soon as I sit down they're at it again. So any tips? Thanks.

  • Computer overheating issues?

So I have a sony viao VPCF136FM that I got about 8 months ago, and I've always had overheating issues with it. The thing runs idle at about 75-80 degrees and get up to about 95 degrees when I'm watching videos, which is just about the heaviest load I put on it nowadays - and I'm sure it's nothing as demanding as modern computer games that this laptop was clearly designed to run. I'm sure it's slowing it's processors down before 95, but at 95 it pretty much locks up until the temps go down, all cores go to 99% usage with nothing open on the comp at that point. Anyway I keep the laptop on a raised laptop stand so it gets plenty of air, the temperature in the room is never above 72 degrees, and I use an external display so I'm never even touching it to cause it to heat up by being pressed against my body.

The fan works fine and is loud as hell too, and the thing has always overheated, so I don't think it's a dust/ fan issue, and I know I could probably fix or at least treat this problem by buying some expensive cooling system or cooling pad but I don't feel I should have to necessarily buy an additional accessory for my product to work the way it is said to.

So clearly this laptop cannot function as it was marketed to be able to, and clearly is going to melt itself (probably 30 minutes after my warranty is up), so I'm wondering what my options are. I'm thinking I will probably take it into bestbuy where I bought it (never again!) and tell them the machine basically can't do anything demanding without overheating, but I don't know if that's their job to fix or if I'm just SOL? More specifically, is it considered a design flaw/ defect if the laptop is doing the things I have described? If so, am I entitled to demand some kind of compensation?

    Thanks in advance!

  • When to take budgie to vet?

I'm almost certain my parakeet is sick, I'm trying to figure out how serious it is and if I should take him to the vet now, or wait and see if it gets better/ worse. He is lethargic and sitting on both feet. Doesn't want to play with other birds, and yesterday I noticed he had watery droppings. Today though he seems to have healthy droppings. He was rather fluffed up, so I turned on a space heater and the room is now about 76-80 degrees, and he is less puffed up now. So should I take him to a vet? How serious are these symptoms? What might the vet do to help him? Would antibiotics from the pet store be advisable? How much does a vet generally cost for something like this? Thanks so much.

  • Does a called in complaint provide probable cause for search and seizure?

If I were driving a jeep and a complaint was called in that someone driving a jeep was drinking while driving or doing some suspicious activity and was pulled over because I was in the area of the complaint, is that in itself probable cause for a car search? What if they had more details, like color, or year of the model (not license plate of course), then would they have probable cause? Where is the line drawn in that respect? Is there a line (in that respect)?

Finally, a separate question, if a noise complaint were called in for a house party, does that give probable cause for officers to enter the property? If an officer sees alcohol being had at this party, does that give them the right to enter the premises, assuming the people in the party are young (in the officers eyes potentially underage)? Does the officer have authority to demand proof of age or demand someone drinking leaves their private property (making them technically drunk in public?)

All questions pertain to law in Illinois, thanks for any help, and please site sources!

  • Hardwire internet connection problems!?

So I've asked this question a few times now, and I usually get a few answers, but none of them have worked, so I guess I will keep asking and hopefully get an answer that works.

My computer is hardwired to internet through a modem, and my internet keeps getting cut off or slowed dramatically periodically. I know it's not the ISP as other people on the internet don't have this problem at the same times I am having the problem (we normally run through a router or switcher but for troubleshooting I run directly from the modem). I know it's not the cord itself, as I have tried multiple. So I assume it is my computer which is the problem.

Sometimes the internet will come back on its own after a few minutes, sometimes I need to reconnect the hardwire for it to come back, and sometimes I need to restart the computer for it to come back. The problem has been distressing me for some time now and any ideas would be awesome. Some things I have already tried are updating windows completely and searching for new updates ect, and running a fix for my winsock.

Again any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • Hardwire internet connection problems!?

I posted on here yesterday talking about how I have been having problems with my hardwire internet connection being lost periodically throughout the day. Sometimes it comes back on its own, other times I need to restart the modem, and most of the time I need to restart my computer to get the internet back. Through trial and error I know that it is not my ethernet cable, and it is not my ISP or router/splitter as I have tried it plugged directly into the modem...

I was responded to by someone telling me I should run a winsock fix, which I did, and it worked great. Problem is it only worked for a day. Let me explain in more detail; after running the fix, my internet browser was running with lightning fast speeds that I hadn't seen in quite a while, and my internet was not cutting out. But today I haven't had the same speed performance, and now i'm even getting disconnected again. So I ran the winsock fix again to see if the winsock files were indeed the problem, except this time, running the fix did nothing. Still slow(er) browser speed ect.

This is quite perplexing to me as I assumed if it worked once it would do the same thing if I ran it again. My only guess to this is that it perhaps wan't actually fixed the first time and maybe the comp restart I did after the fix made my browser run faster but did nothing to fix my connection problems. Anyways any input would be helpful, thanks!

  • Hardwire connection keeps breaking up?

I have a hardwire internet connection to my laptop, and sporadically my computer will lose the connection to it, sometimes it come back on its own, other times I need to reconnect the cord to get the connection, and most of the time I need to restart my whole computer to get the internet to come back.

I know it's not the internet itself as my roommates use the same internet and I get disconnected and they still have a connection at the same time. I know it's not the cord, as I have tried multiple. And finally, I know it's not the router or splitter, because it does it even when I am connected straight into the modem. So I am assuming it is my computer that is the problem.

It's really inconvenient to have to restart it all the time when it loses internet so if anyone even just knows how to refresh hardwire internet connections without restarting the comp that would be great. There are plenty of ways to troubleshoot wireless internet connections but I have had a hard time finding troubleshooting for your computer losing hardwire connection. Thanks for any help.

  • Is it safe for a parakeet to chew on the cage bars?

My parakeet recently decided he enjoys chewing his cage bars instead of all the toys and cuttlebone he has available. I'm concerned it's bad for him because he's chewing the paint off. I have been making the Tsst! noise when he does it, and he stops, but then continues after a few seconds of looking around. Is the paint non-toxic and safe for birds as small as parakeets?

  • How sensitive are parakeet's tails?

I would like to know how sensitive the tail is, and how sensitive in comparison to wings or torso? Also, what is a good way to clip a skiddish birds nails? I'm afraid of him scratching himself too hard.
