How Can I Get My Post Master To Schedule Me (a newbie) More Hours?
I just started working for the USPS. Yay for me. At first, I was working 50+ hours a week for the first couple/few weeks. Now, I'm scheduled ONE DAY! I worked one day last week and I work one day this week. I've been trying my *** off to be safe and accurate while delivering the mail, while still getting it done in a timely manner. I can't seem to shave anymore time off of the route, no matter what I do. I didn't even take a lunch last day-week. How can I persuade her to schedule more? Or, how can improve my route time? How long does it usually take a rural route sub to get comfortable with their route (when it's the first route they've ever done because it's a brand new job to them)? I've been over analyzing it. I've been dissecting what it could possible be. I was also confronted by her that a customer told the regular that I told them "I hate my job." NO! Jeebs! Is the post office really a high-school gossip group or something? I just want to be accepted and taught. There's really only one or two people there that extend some help to me. It's a frustrating job - learning it all. Wow! But I don't *hate* it! Double wow! If anyone has any advice for me, or can give me a rough estimate as to how long it should take (or in personal experience - took) to learn you're first route, please, be generous! I'll take all the tips and advice I can get. I want to be doing this until I retire. It's part of my master plan and I finally figured my masterplan OUT! I can't lose this chance.
