  • 1988 Toyota Corolla Dies at idle, but runs fine when driving need help!!?

Ok i have a 1988 toyota corolla with about 215,000 miles on it and it runs very strong, the only problem is that when it is at idle, or low rpm's, the car spits and sputters and eventually dies. I took it to a local mechanic i kno and he kinda did a quick check and he said that the carburetor is getting to much fuel and thats why its doing it. So i thought it might be the choke sticking and causing the car to flood out, i tried to spray the inside of the carburetor with carburetor and choke cleaner, but it didnt work. I changed the plugs also. Also the mechanic told me that he might be able to adjust some stuff on it to see if he can try to get it to stop, but i never took it yet. He also said that if he had to rebuild the carburetor there isnt much luck because he said its hard to get them to work right even after you rebuild them. I just want some info on how to fix thanks for your time
