ASUS K55V Mid On/Off stage help [Dual Boot]?
My trusty ASUS K55VM-- Almost 2 years old now-- Has a dualboot with Linux Fedora 16 and Windows 7. But last time when it was on Windows (which was about 15 minutes ago) and when I woke it up, the display didn't come on-- then I noticed that only the bulb (power) and NumLock indicator lights are on, and the power light are on. There's a black screen, not even GRUB (Bootloader) is not loading (The disk light is off but I still hear it whirring). The CD drive is not opening either.
Please help!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks7 years agoHelp with choosing a dog?
I'm getting a dog in October, after 6 years of waiting and hoping. I thought this would remain a fantasy till I grew up, and yes, I'm under 18 years of age.
I've talked to many dog owners and enthusiasts that I know and I've heard all the problems (and solutions) and precautions to take, and am ready to get a dog.
So I've looked into everything and <blush> formed a pledge </blush> and all, and my parents are also happy about this.
The only problem left is the breed. I've been doing vigorous research for about 1 month, and really want a lab and see that it suits our lifestyle and has the qualities I want. The problem is, they're an expensive affair to maintain over a long course of time and they grow BIG, and we plan to take him/her to a lot of places. If you can suggest another breed or can find a solution to these problems please answer.
Wait a minute, don't just skip to the answer section. There's more. It turns out, we're getting it in early October, and in December, during the holiday vacations (that expression doesn't seem legit) we're going to my cousins, by FLIGHT and are not sure if a 2 month old puppy (well, 3, considering it's probably gonna be about 4 weeks old when we adopt it) will cope very well with that. I don't even know if dogs are allowed on interstate flights (will look into that later myself), though a distant cousin of mine is getting a dog herself and is willing to keep it while we're gone for 4 days, but I still think 2 months (with us) is a bit too tender. Please help here, too.
If this has been too overwhelming, I'll take the courtesy to have a summary here:
1) Getting a dog, want a lab, but may be too big, need a solution for this or another breed
2) Whatever breed I take, we're going out by flight in Dec and I think 2 months of age is too tender to either take with us or leave with a cousin who's willing to keep him/her.
4 AnswersDogs8 years agoHelp with iMovie Export?
Hello, I am a new YouTuber looking for opportunities. I'm making minecraft and club penguin videos, my channel is youtube.com/AviSpinNetwork (my website being avispin.com).
So my question is, when I make a video and edit it using iMovie, it doesn't work (it says it'll be done in a few minutes to hours until the video processes and shows up on YT's end but never actually happens) to upload it from the software itself so I upload via the website itself, for which I need to export it. But when I export it the quality is is so dead awful, it's hard to tell what the hell is even going on. Is there a way to help this? Because this is pretty desperate. I'm not willing to change to another editor. Also, since I'm a half partner (haven't provided my phone number for monetisation yet) I would like to upload a thumbnail, which doesn't work from the iMovie upload thing, and when I do it from my manager itself it never works.
Thank you for your time.
1 AnswerYouTube8 years agoNeed help with migrating to Photoshop?
I've been using Paint.NET (With my Wacom Bamboo tablet) for 2-3 years and I've been able to make really good graphics, speedarts etc with it after these years of practise and tutorials. So I decided to take it to the next level by buying photoshop. I'm doing the evaluation trial right now and I'm having a bit of trouble with figuring out how to go about it. If anyone could help me with this migration or link to a video/blog it would be appreciated.
(Note: As I mentioned before I do speedarts, text effects, customs, design elements etc. and have a Wacom tablet)
2 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoMinecraft account hacked?
Hello, and thank you very much for your time-- this is very important to me! Just a few minutes ago this morning my PREMIUM account got hacked-- I lost all control over my account. Luckily I canceled the subscription so the hacker will not get a premium account just for free, but I managed to gain access back to it using my email, so I believe I'm safe for now. But I'm under 18 so don't have a job and if I buy Minecraft premium again with my own allowance I'll be broke, and I'm trying to save up for a gift for someone. I would appreciate help/advice on what to do, or even a gift code (but it's okay if you don't have one to spare) would be really really epic.
Please note that I will NOT use any g/c generators.
Once again, thanks a million for your time.
4 AnswersSoftware8 years agoHelp with creating a bootable USB stick?
Hi all, I've been trying hard to resurrect an old PC that was just sitting around. It's a Dell Latitude D620 which is nearing the decade which served me well during the mid 2000s. The CD drive is broken (or at least it can't read the Linux Ubuntu 10.04 I've put in it) so the only option I have is to make a bootable USB key. I'm using a Mac to do this and I've followed many tutorials but every time I try it out it says there's no boot sector. I've done this before with Fedora but for some reason (it's even the same key) it's not working with Ubuntu (10.04 because it's an old computer). I've tried:
Doing it the way that's listed on Ubuntu's guide
Doing it the way I did it with Fedora
Doing the first two ways with a different iso
Repeating the previous way
Doing /dev/diskN during dd instead of /dev/rdiskN (replace N with the disk)
And some other ways which I forgot.
All have the same result: No boot sector.
Please help! Also, if there's a better distro out there for this computer (apart from Xubuntu, Lubuntu-- as they probably will have the same error if it's distro-related--, Crunchbang and Puppylinux).
3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoOld Dell Latitude D620 crashing?
Hi, today I tried starting my almost 10 year old Dell Latitude D620 (which runs Windows 7 dual-booted with Linux OpenSUSE 12.1) but it fails in both OSes-
Windows: Runs CHDSK on first boot, and fails all the other times I attempt to boot; it flashes a blue screen of death for a very small amount of time (not even enough for me to read) and then starts from the beginning if I select "Start Windows Normally". If I choose "Launch Startup Repair" it does some thing for a while and then asks me to reboot. When I get past the boot menu it's back to square one
OpenSuse: Hangs, there is some part of the command GUI visible which reads "Panicking, launching in not-graphical mode" or something like that.
OpenSuse Failsafe mode: It doesn't boot, it gets stuck somewhere.
Please help as all my other (also newer and much better functioning) computers are either Mac or Linux and I need to do something with Windows, and someone else needs to use this computer, too.

1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoSo, I am still suspicious about the corvette, so let's move on, should we?
So. I was in the market for 2 cars not 1. So I have the corvette question and i guess I should not consider any of those.
I still would ask you a question. Actually, no. 2.
If I get a car under 45k which drives quick and keeps me happy and sat least not un-fresh on long drives would it be
A used 2010 Chevy Corvette with 31.29k on the clock, A used Pontiac GTO with 34000mi on the clock, a 2008/2009 Lexus IS-F with 30-35k on the clock, or a brand new 3351 coupe or 335d (normal)
And also I needed another car with the same requirements just that it would be a city car not a trackday one
2007 Ford Focus Sedan 73k mi, 2007 Ford Focus SE - 53k mi, 2002 Ford Focus ZX5 - 99k mi, 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 - 73k, 2002 Ford Focus SE - 98k
My 2nd car budget is really low, like 7500 bucks and the focuses are reliable
so which one?

NVDIA GeForce Graphics card
ANYTHING**without** WINDOWS and I mean it
Intel Core i5/i3 Processor
Long Lasting battery (At least 8hrs)
Good Form Factor
Under $700
Purposes-
Some gaming and education
I'm willing to make an exception for those specs (except budget and OS) if there are better options there (I Already have)

PS does XUBUNTU run Xfce and does the x mean XFCE? The rat logo gave me a hint.
