  • Does birth control work the same if you've just had a baby? How long does it take to start working?

I am 10 weeks and a few days postpartum from having twins. I had the depo shot injection at 7 weeks exactly. So I have had it over 3 weeks. My hormone levels went down to give me a negative test result finally after 8 weeks postpartum, my question is, I know you are very fertile after having a baby. Does that make my birth control any less effective? Or does it still protect me the same. Also, I was on my period when given the injection, (first period after birth) not the first day of it, but on it (I hear that matters) and was curious how long it takes to kick in and really protect. thanks!

  • Your experience with depo provera?

I was on it at 15-17 and missed an shot, immediately got pregnant. Had a miscarriage, I lost about 20 lbs on it, never had a period on it. Got on the pill, missed so many it was just not effective. Had twins two months ago, now I'm 21. I got back on the shot because I do not want anymore children, and I have heard bad things about the mirena IUD. My doctor stressed that it makes a loot of girls gain weight, and now I'm nervous because my body could react totally different now after having twins. I would like to know your experience.

  • Does the depo make you gain weight?

I was about 125-130 before depo when I was 15. I took it, and got down to about 110.. at 17 I stopped it due to forgetting a shot and getting pregnant, i miscarried. I was on pills for a while, kept forgetting them, at 19 I got pregnant and had twins at 20 years old (hyper ovulation due to missing pills) I now am about to be 21, and just got the depo again thinking okay it will be fine, i liked it before. BUT when i got it THIS time, my doctor kept like making the statement, are you sure your okay with gaining weight?? and i was confused because i didnt before, but now that i had babies 8 weeks ago, maybe my body is totally different, could I gain weight? or is it likely that I wont? I am only been on it for a week now, I have gained 1 lb but I fluctuate between 110-113 anyways regardless.

  • Can hcg still be present 7 weeks after having twins?

I had a positive pregnancy test at exactly 7 weeks at my birth control visit at the docs. But, I had a period this week.. A normal one, my birth bleeding stopped about 3 weeks ago. Anyways, I've had sex but used condoms every time, and they haven't broken. Can the test read positive from hcg levels not being normal yet?

  • Can my hcg levels still give me a positive test 7 weeks after birthing twins?

I had twins on February 15th and my doctor told me it is recommended to wait 6 weeks before having sex but that once the bleeding stops it should be okay if I feel okay to have sex. I stopped bleeding about 2 weeks after my c section and had sex a few days later with a condom, a spermicide condom. And since then I've had sex with my boyfriend about once or twice a week. All with condoms. At 6 weeks and 2 days postpartum I got heavy bleeding that lasted 6 days (stopped yesterday) and it was seemed to be a normal period. Today I was 7 weeks and went to get my birth control put in, but my precaution pregnancy test showed positive.. None of the condoms ever broke, so could I be pregnant or could my hormone levels not be totally normal yet since I did have two babies? Any opinions? Thank you.

  • is it likely I will carry my twins full term?

I am 34 weeks pregnant with twins, I am 4 foot 9. and 108 lbs pre pregnancy. Right now I am 138. I have a scheduled C-section for 38 weeks and 3 days, but I am so sore in the ribs and back I just dont know if I can handle another 4 weeks, it's too uncomfortable and painful. But I was examined at 32 weeks and doctor said my cervix is still "thick, long, and closed." and I have not had contractions other than slight Braxton hicks occasionally. My doctor did say "I dont see you making it to your scheduled date" but if I was going to go early wouldnt my cervix start thinning by now or any signs of labor be noticeable.. Any advice?

  • How much did you gain during your twin pregnancy?

I am 31 weeks pregnant and at my last appointment I was 135. I started out at 110. So I have gained about 25 lbs so far. My doctor said its normal to gain between 35 and 50 with twins according to my small frame. (4'10 and 110 lbs) in the whole pregnancy. I don't want to sound selfish but I am terrified of gaining another 20 lbs and I have heard you pack it on in the end, and I'm reaching my last 6 weeks (c section at 37 my doctor doesn't wanna risk placental breakdown) anyways. I just wanted to know other women's experience and if you don't mind sharing. Thanks so much!

  • pregnant, tooth pain after cavity filling, please help.?

I am 26 weeks pregnant with twins, and I had dental work done today at a new office (only because I am broke from baby things and they accept my insurance) and I was really skeptical and scared because I have only ever gone to a certain place. well, I had a cavity filled that the dentist said was pretty deep and that it didnt but almost was at the nerve.... and I had it done around 11 this morning, and around 7 pm I ate a subway sandwich, and when i chewed on that side that tooth was so sensitive it was like a throbbing pain, like it wasnt mild, it was startling and very sharp. I even took another bite and it kept doing it so I started crying because it was just painful. When I am not eating it is pretty okay, but then even when I was talking there was sensitivity on that tooth, I called the dentist emergency number and when i got ahold of him he said "it is common to have pain after a deep filling so close to the nerve, and that i should give it a few days to subside. and if its not better by monday, he will do a root canal because that is the next step." so I am just really nervous, I asked if there were any way of infection or that this pain is harming the babies and he simply said, if its infected I will have constant pain and probably have gum swelling. I am freaking out because I am terrified that its infected or that the babies are in jeopardy. I dont know if this is really normal and it will go away? or if I wait for it to go away and dont do anything about it, then it turned out to be infected and the babies die or something. online it says there should never be any super painful sensations after a filling unless it was done wrong or there is nerve or root issues with infections, I know i shouldnt research it or take what people on the internet say before i take what the dentist says, I am just so nervous.

..and my OBGYN gave me a list of things the dentist could do and give me and what he could not, and he kept saying how careful he was being due to me being pregnant and not wanting any trouble for his malpractice...

  • Do you think these twin names are super corny?

My boyfriend and I wanted to name our boy girl twins Allison Faye (Allie for short), and Noah Andrew.. Now mind you, never seen the Notebook in my life. But when I mentioned the names to a friend, she instantly said "thats funny, your naming them after the notebook" so I went and watched it. But now I am concerned if these are actually cute names by coincidence or if its super corny and a bad correlation because in the movie they are lovers and my twins are siblings.. I can hope people are a bunch of freaks and see it that way, haha Opinions? thank you!

  • Does this name go nice with this name?

I am having boy/girl twins! and my boyfriend and I have already decided the boy will be Noah Andrew Connelly. After 2 months of debating and looking over girl names, we went from Sadie, which we chose not to use because our families and friends kept saying they knew people with dogs named Sadie.. Anyways, We decided to use Allison Faye Connelly. We wanted a more traditional name for her middle name, but something not used a lot. So lynn, and marie and ann were out of the question. We liked Elizabeth but it was too long because she has such a long first and last name. So What do you think of Noah and Allie? Does it sound odd because people may connect it to the notebook? We were not even thinking about that when we chose the names. Also, does Faye go nicely as a middle name? I was torn between Fay and Faye but I think the E looks more elegant.

  • Middle names that go with Natalie?

Okay I am having boy girl twins. At first my boyfriend and I decided they would be, Sadie Blair Connelly and Noah Andrew Connelly. I have had so many people tell me Sadie reminds them of a dog's name, that it's turned me off from it. I was going through names and couldnt find another that I liked and all of a sudden I fell in love with the name Natalie, and it sounds cute with Noah :) Andrew is my boyfriends middle name so he likes Natalie Nicole, because Nicole is my middle name, but I think because Natalie is long and Connelly is long, a shorter middle name would be better, please help! any names that would go nice with natalie! What do you think about the set Natalie and Noah?

I know they will take everything from the mother before they are harmed, but how long of not eating would harm the babies?

  • How long can you go without eating when pregnant with twins?

Just out of curiosity, I am pregnant with twins, 20 weeks along. I am eating and this does not pertain to me I was just actually very curious how many days or so someone carrying twins could go without much food or water.
