  • Many questions about the Coast Guard?

    I'm trying to write a character for a book and I need some information on Coast Guard responsibilities and ranks.

    Sources I've reviewed are the Coast Guard homepage, Wikipedia, Grunt's military site.

    First I don't understand how Enlisted and Commissioned officers interact. Who commands who? Does an enlisted officer ever command a Commissioned officer?

    Second. Where can I get a good description of a ranks responsibilities? Who commands on Lake Ontario?

    I would be delighted to sit down and talk to a Coast Guard veteran to get first hand details and even accounts.
