  • If you had back labor with your first baby...?

are you likely to have it in subsequent labors? I want to have more kids, but I never want to experience that kind of pain again. Honestly, if anyone thinks that they had back labor and say it wasn't that bad, they didn't really have back labor.

  • Swimsuit 6 weeks after baby *wince*?

My parents are taking my sisters, our spouses, and our kids to maui on febraury 1st. Awesome, and I'm totally grateful and excited and all of that, but I just had a baby three weeks ago and I have no idea what to wear on the beach! My body still looks pretty weird and I'm just not comfortable rocking any of my old 2 piece suits. I was thinking one of those one-piece retro pin-up girl type numbers (think Marilyn Monroe-esque). I live in Canada though, and theres no way any of the stores here will have that in stock in the middle of winter. Anyone know of an e store or warm climate American stores I might be able to order something from?

  • I've been in labor for 3 days. Help me!!!?

I started having regular contraction on thursday morning. They've increased in intensity and frequency, peaking out at every 2-3 minutes. I haven't slept the past three night and when my midwife came over last night i discovered that I am only 2 cm dilated. 2 measly centimeters. I am so disheartened and I don't know how much more of this I can take.

    Any advice for me? :(

    I'm 41 weeks and 2 days.

  • Do babies get significantly more active before labor?

I'm 40 weeks 6 days and I'm having all sorts of early labor signs. The weird thing is is my baby is moving like CRAZY. Every time i lie down and try to rest, he just goes nuts and has been squirming and freaking out for a good 4 hours now.

Is that normal? or is he in distress for some reason?

    Thanks!!

  • Have you had your membranes swept?

I just had my membranes swept and I'm wondering about how effective this is in getting labor going. I'm 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced. I have constant braxton hicks contractions and I had what i suspect was false labor 3 days ago.

I'm curious what other womens experience is with this procedure.

  • Questions about early labor...?

I was due 3 days ago and last night I thought I might have been going into labor. I was having contractions that were slightly painful in my lower abdomen about 3 times every half hour. They weren't excruciating by any means, but more painful and stronger than the Braxton hicks I've experienced over the past couple of months. Then were strong enough to keep me awake for most of the night. Then, at 4 am, they stopped completely and I got some rest. Now I'm having contractions again that are slightly stronger. they last about 30-40 seconds and come at around 10 minutes apart. I haven't lost the mucus plug, nor has my water broken. (this may be way TMI, but I've had 3 fairly loose bowel movements already this morning and I have more vaginal pressure than normal as well)

I'm just curious what other women experienced in early labor and if it sounds like today might be the day?

  • Is any way to delay labor?

I'm due in 2 days, but I've come down with a vicious cold/flu. I don't really to have to go through labor in this state. Am I just out of luck completely, or are there things I can do to stay pregnant until I get better, or as close to it as possible?

  • Will pumping waste colostrum?

I've heard pumping your breasts will help get labor going and make breast feeding a little easier. I'm worried that is will pump out the colostrum, which I've heard is full of antibodies and all sorts of other good things for the baby. Will I make more colostrum if I pump it out trying to get things moving?

    thanks :)

  • Will I make my baby ill when he's born?

I'm 39+3 weeks and I've come down with a gnarly cold. If I give birth soon, will my baby likely catch my cold if I still have it? I would feel so bad for the little guy if his first few days of life were with a cough and sore throat! Is there anything I can do to protect him?

  • Is is possible to have painless labor contractions?

I've been having braxton hicks contractions throughout the majority of my pregnancy. Now that I'm getting close to D-day, I have them even more.

Last night I had what felt like menstrual cramps for about 2 hours, on and off, and then they stopped. This morning I'm having painless contractions on a fairly regular basis. Is there any way these aren't braxton hicks or is it normal to have a ton of them when getting close to actual labor? I'm having around 4-5 contractions an hour at this point. I've also been leaking a clear orderless fluid for the past week or so. It was never a gush or a trickle of it or anything like that. (I know TMI I'm sorry!) Its just there in my panty liner...

  • What kind of "nesting" did you do?

This morning I woke up with the uncontrollable urge to clean everything and anything in my house. When I finished the bathroom (behind the toilet, under the sink), the kitchen (cupboards, inside and out) and pretty much everything else i could think of, I baked some cookies.

I'm curious how long after "nesting" everyone ended up going into labor?

  • What was your most painful experience?

I recently spent a few days in the hospital in a special kind of agony known as Kidney Stones. It was absolutely excruciating and I required heavy narcotics to cope with it. I'm so happy to say it passed and I feel good as new, but I am officially terrified of giving birth now. If having a baby hurts like that, I don;t know if I can handle it. How did your most painful experience compare to labour?

  • Menstrual-like cramping at 35 weeks...?

They don't come and go, they're just kind of constantly there. My water hasn't broken, there's been no sign of a mucus plug and baby is kicking away like usual. Is this normal or should I worry?

    Thanks!

  • What was your genetic combo?

I'm expecting my first baby in December and find myself spending a lot of time wondering what he's going to look like. I'm blond haired, blue eyed with fair skin. My husband is black haired, hazel eyed with olive skin. I've heard there are certain genes that are dominant.

I'm curious about what you and your s.o. look like and what genes your baby has inherited from each of you.

    Thanks :)
