I'm a very open person who loves helping others. I'm currently engaged to my fiancé with whom I've been dating just over 4 years. I've learned a lot about myself and about relationships throughout my own relationship, and I want to use my experience to help others to the best of my ability. :)

  • Large bust swim wear? Really at a loss here?

I'm rather large-chested and I am having a very hard time finding a bathing suit that both 1) fits me and 2) is of a style that I like. I've tried Sports Experts, Bikini Village, Sears... I always have the same problem: either I'm busting out at the sides, or the bikini doesn't give enough support and my breasts pull it down too low so that they are just hanging on my stomach. I'm a young adult so I'm not really keen on getting a one-piece bathing suit but I'm quite discouraged that I can't seem to find a 2-piece that fits me properly...

Any suggestions (other than to hit up the gym to lose fat haha)? Where to shop, specific models to look for, etc? I'm going camping in a week at a resort that has a pool & a beach, my old bathing suit no longer fits me at all so I really need a new one...! Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

  • Motivation to lose weight?

Bit of background: I was a figure skater for 15 years. It kept me at a weight of 105-110 lbs (I'm 5'1"). But I quit two years ago because it was too much with university. Since then I've put on 40 lbs, I'm nowhere near as in shape as I used to be, and I find myself yearning to be the size I was back then.

But I can't seem to motivate myself to lose weight. I've registered at a gym, I'm paying the monthly fees, but I can never push myself to go. I'm also a comfort eater, which is a huge reason why I've gained so much weight - I eat when I'm sad/stressed, and with university/working to pay tuition/family problems, I'm sad/stressed more often than I would like to be. On top of that, I don't really "hate" my body, I'm not overly self-conscious of what I look like. I don't find myself fat by any means, I'm just pudgier than I would like to be. But I don't see it as enough of a problem for it to be intrinsically motivating.

How can I motivate myself to start working out and eating better? I've tried getting friends to sign up to the gym with me to have some friendly motivation, but no one is available when I am. I feel I need some sort of external motivation because I'm not strong enough in will power to just get up and do it. Can anyone tell me any tips, or if you've ever been in this situation, how you overcame it?

  • Place to go for weekend fishing trip?

My dad loves to fish, but he very rarely gets to go. I'm trying to plan a weekend fishing trip for him for father's day, but I have next to no knowledge about this sport. I need information such as A) are there places you can go to fish for a day or for a weekend (1-2 days), B) where is a good place that you'll actually catch fish, C) how much is it (I estimate we'll be 4-6 people), etc.? We own fishing rods/life jackets but we would need a place where we can rent 1-2 boats.

Any suggestions for places where I can do this? Ideally it would be around the Montreal area, but I don't think my dad would mind to drive ~2 hours out, if that helps.

  • My dog has had diarrhea for 5 days? I'm getting worried?

    Hi everyone,

Sunday night, a leftover plate of roast pork fell off the counter and my dog ate a pretty big helping of it. She had pretty bad diarrhea for the following three days. Yesterday her poop started looking more solid, but she just had another bout of diarrhea about a half hour ago.

My family sometimes feeds her table scraps (but not a lot) and we haven't been feeding her any food (apart from her kibble) all week because of the diarrhea. I'm starting to get worried - the Sunday beef should long be out of her system... Is this normal? Is this a sign of something else? She hasn't shown any signs of sickness / lethargy / anything; she's been acting perfectly herself, just with diarrhea.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

  • Transfer of responsibility - cellphone contract?

I'm looking to get out of my current cellphone contract, and I found the website cellclients.com. Long story short, I put up my plan, and actually got someone interested in taking over my contract.

I've looked into the process of transferring contracts, it seems very easy and very simple... Perhaps too easy for me to feel comfortable with it. If I do manage to transfer responsibility of my contract to someone new from this cellclients website, is there any way for it to bite me in the ***? I've offered a $100 incentive to take my contract (I want to get out that badly, but to cancel with the company it would cost me $400 -.-), I just don't want the person to somehow get my contract, take the $100, and find some loophole to get out of it and screw me over, you know? So once the contract is officially transferred, it's theirs, and I'm permanently out of it - no way possible for it to come back to me, right?

Has anyone done this before? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

  • Boyfriend scared to disobey parents?

My boyfriend is scared to disobey his parents when they are really serious about something. He's worried they'll kick him out if he pisses them off too much. The thing is, now he's in his final exams (pre-university courses needed to get into his program) and they still harass him with stuff. They don't understand because no one in his family has gone further than high school. I've talked to him and his parents about it, and I've tried to give him a push to stay at my place for his finals so he can concentrate (this would be the option most beneficial to him) but I just feel like he's getting frustrated with me by pushing the issue... I only push the issue because I know it's the better choice for him.

How can I help him get over this fear? I know he understands the gravity of the situation and how important his finals are, but I think his fear to disobey his parents is just as great an influence in his head so he is sacrificing his time to keep them happy. I personally don't believe they would kick him out (they depend on him for A LOT of things on a daily basis) but who knows. Even if they did kick him out, he knows he could stay with my family, they've already made that clear.

I really don't know what to do. I want so badly to give him the best environment to study so as to achieve the best grades possible, but it seems like pushing against his fear to disobey his parents is putting a rift between us. I want to support him the best way I can - but in one way, support for a better environment tells me I need to push him to make the choice to stay in a better place, but in the other way, support for him to maintain a happy and stable mind tells me I should just let him make his own choice and do the best he can with what he has...

Sorry for the length. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Need help to find headphones?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for a decent pair of headphones that have the following qualities:

    - Over the ear

    - Detachable wire

    - Great bass

    - Under $200

I'm looking around but it seems hard to find headphones that have all of these + good reviews. Can someone point me to some good headphones that won't break my bank account but that are also worth paying $100-$150 for?

    Thanks!

  • I need help in this situation?

Background information: I'm 22, engaged, very friendly and outgoing, and I work at a pet store. I'm open and friendly with all my customers, it's just my personality. One of our loyal customers passed by today, and we always exchange pleasantries. He's like 50 years old, married with kids. He's a very nice man, and I always ask him how his fish are doing (he breeds fish, which is why he comes to our store often). Nothing weird or awkward at all.

Today, however, I mentioned another pet store near my house (we were out of one of the products he needed) and he said he lived in the same neighborhood, and deduced that we were "neighbors". Then things got really weird, he started hugging me and kissed my cheek (very close to my lips) and he brushed my hair off my shoulder and said he liked how my hair was today. I'm just there thinking like "what the !@#$ is he doing" feeling really awkward. I just moved away and made the sale for the other products, and then he was like "oh do you like chinese food? It's great we're neighbors, we should go out for lunch, give me your phone number, we'll go out for lunch sometime". I said I didn't think it was a good idea, but he just hugged me again and said "of course, we're neighbors, it will be fun". At this point I lied and said my phone was broken, and I gave him an email address I had when I was a kid and don't use anymore just to get him to leave.

So wtf was up with this guy? It made me feel really awkward. First of all, he's still a stranger to me, and second of all, he got all touchy-feely just because he found out we live in the same neighborhood. I know I should have stood my ground and just flat-out told him it was making me feel uncomfortable but he's a loyal customer at the store and I don't want him to feel put off or something. He said he would come back and see me other days that I work. I just said sure, because I already do see him around every other day.

So my question is: can someone shed some insight as to what the hell was going through this guy's head? Does he seem like a sexual predator looking for innocent targets nearby where he lives? I don't want to judge him but that's really the feeling I got. :/ It's just weird that he wasn't like that before, but now all of a sudden that we're neighbors, it's like he's ultra-hitting on me. I'd like your opinions!

  • 3D white strips not sticking, maybe not working?

I recently bought Crest 3D whitestrips professional with advanced seal. It's after my third day using them, and contrary to the "see results in just 3 days", I actually have seen no difference in the whiteness of my teeth. I have applied them as directed and used them as directed for 3 consecutive nights.

When I use the strips, I feel like they are not really stuck on my teeth. When I run my finger over the strips, I feel like I'm pushing air out from the strips. I salivate quite a bit when they are on my teeth, but this is supposedly a normal reaction and they are still supposed to work. The strips look like this:

    http://i.imgur.com/iGH7a.jpg

I feel neither pain nor sensitivity (and I mean I feel nothing at all, not even a twinge of pain) and I see no results. Is it possible that my package is a dud? Or is this really how it works, and I'll start seeing results soon? I've read tons of reviews online where people say they see major results after the first 2-3 days, and I've done my 3rd treatment and I have yet to see even a shade of difference...

Please, if someone has any experience with this product, give me some advice! I'm wondering if I should make an inquiry to Crest, but part of me feels I'm over-reacting and I just have to wait for the results to come. But if my package really is a dud, I want to take care of the issue now and not wait another 17 days before acting...

    Thanks!

  • Can I use Sensodyne tooth paste after using Crest white strips?

I've read many reviews about the professional Crest white strips making teeth and gums very sensitive. So I thought I'd be smart and buy some Sensodyne toothpaste to counter the potential sensitivity.

However now I'm wondering, is there anything in the Sensodyne toothpaste that could somehow counter the effects of the strips? Also, they say it's okay to "brush gently" after using the strips, but I'm wondering if they assume you're using a Crest whitening toothpaste, and not something else.

Bottom line: can I use Sensodyne toothpaste while I'm using Crest white strips?

    Thanks!

  • What's a good cough suppressant?

I've had a bad cough for over a week. Back in May, I had a cough for 3 weeks and I got prescribed 30 mg codeine pills as a cough suppressant, but it turned out I was at the end of the cough so I didn't really take any. Now I took one almost an hour ago and I'm still constantly coughing, my throat is raw and it hurts like hell every time I cough but I'm still coughing every minute!

So I'd like to know, is there anything out there (be it medication or food or ANYTHING) I can take to make me stop coughing? It's such a pain, I had to miss work yesterday and miss school today because this cough is so annoying and I feel so damn lousy!

  • Where can I get a straddle stitched custom calendar made?

I'm looking for a place online to create a custom photo calendar and have it printed, bound with STAPLES (not spiral ring), and at least 12" by 23" open, and mailed to me. Does anyone know of such a website? I've been looking around but most websites that I've found offer only spiral bound / the sizes are not what I want, or you have to purchase a minimum of 25 calendars (I only want 1).

    Thanks!

  • Are beats by Dre really worth the price?

I have two friends who have quite extensive knowledge about headphones. One says they are worth the price (the $250 model) and you get the quality you pay for. Another says they're over-priced because people think they're stylish/hipster, and it's possible to get the same quality with other brands that are half the price, and they are therefore not worth it.

I have very little, if not no knowledge of this sort of thing. I know someone who would like beats by dre as a Christmas gift, but is it a waste?

Thanks for any information/advice you can give, it's appreciated. :)

  • What's a good width for a mattress? Is a futon bad to sleep on?

Not sure if this is in the right category, but I couldn't find a better one for sleeping issues lol. Long story but here goes:

I have a single bed at home with a mattress that's pretty comfortable, never had any back problems with it. The only problem is that it doesn't have enough space when my boyfriend sleeps over at my house. His parents have a futon they've barely used (they say it's like brand new, I haven't seen it yet) and my BF said the mattress is 6 inches thick. My parents, however, don't want me to get the futon, because they say it's bad for my back, etc. My dad just said we should look into getting a double bed, because he doesn't want me sleeping on a futon.

The thing is, I was taking the futon because my BFs parents are giving it to me. I really don't have the funds to go out and buy a new bed + new mattress + new sheets and crap (I'm currently working part time, doing university part time, so all my $$$ is going to tuition), and although my dad says he will buy the mattress, he doesn't have a money tree in the back yard either. The futon was a temporary solution to the space problem, one which I decided to take with a "why not" point of view, because my BFs parents were going to throw out the futon anyway.

My question is: is it really bad to sleep on a futon? Or is it the 6 inch mattress that's bad? As much as I'd love to have a double bed, I can deal with my single for now, until I get $$$ to buy a double.

  • Question about losing weight diet?

To give you some information about myself, I'm a 5'1" female and currently weigh 143 lbs. I was a figure skater for 15 years (I quit last year) and I used to weigh 110 lbs. During the last year I gained 33 lbs, because when I quit skating, I lost all form of exercise.

Recently I joined a gym, and I have hired a personal trainer to help me (I've never really done the whole gym-workout thing). She's great and all, and she's helping me with what I eat. I've already changed things in my diet for the better (i.e. I eat less junk, I eat whole-grain bread instead of white bread, I drink more water instead of soda, etc.) but I still enjoy pizza and coke once in awhile. She just told me tonight that I can't have any pizza or soda at all (the soda I understand, but the pizza I have like once or twice a month) and, more shockingly to me, that I shouldn't eat bread at all and that eventually I will have to cut out my dairy as well. I simply cannot imagine not having bread and dairy in my diet, all my life I've eaten toast in the morning/sandwiches for lunch and I also eat a lot of cereal with milk. Obviously I have implemented some changes (I have tuna salads sometimes for lunch) but I just can't imagine completely cutting these things out, nor do I really have the desire to do it.

My question is, do I really have to entirely cut out bread/milk to lose the weight I've gained, or is that more of a strict health-nut / body-builder approach? I never watched what I ate when I was a skater, I ate whatever I wanted and I always averaged 110 lbs. I understand that what you eat is important, but I'm more inclined to believe that if I start up a strict exercise regimen as well as eat healthier (but not cut out everything as she has stipulated) I will be fine. Am I right; is this true? Or does losing weight really take as much as she says?

    Thanks!

  • Fiancé possibly has ADD or learning disability, how to get treatment?

Long story short, my fiancé has always had trouble focusing/concentrating on complex subjects at school. It was bearable when he was in high school and he got by in CEGEP, but doing pre-univserity courses he is having a lot of trouble. He had ADD tendencies as a child in elementary but his parents denied it and never got it checked out.

He has gone to his doctor, who said she needed a definitive diagnosis to treat him, but the diagnosis she wanted was from a neuro-psychologist, and it would cost upwards of $2000. He doesn't have that kind of money, so she suggested to go through the public system. We went to the CLSC and they said he could be put on the waiting list, which would take 2-3 years before he even got seen by someone. They then suggested we go to a university doing ADD research, but all of them doing ADD research were focusing on subjects up to 21 years of age, and my fiancé is 23. We finally found a place to do a free diagnostic test, and today we got the results, but they could not give him anything definitive. They said he has "strong ADD tendencies but there are other indications of a possible learning disability that has to get resolved first". So now we're back to square one with a list of referrals and places for him to get a diagnosis, but again they are charging $2000 and up.

He doesn't have that money, he had to quit his job a year ago because he had open heart surgery and he is still recuperating. His parents complain they don't have money, but they do - his dad just spent $6000 on two new skidoos. The problem is they don't see this problem as something important, and my fiancé is very against asking them for help (long story).

At this point I just want to know what options there are for people who don't have the luxury of being rich, my fiancé is extremely discouraged now and is tired of getting turfed from place to place while no one is giving him a definitive answer about his problem. I want to talk to his parents about helping him, but in the case that they don't, what can we do? He has his heart set on going to university but he wouldn't be able to handle the rigors of university with his inattention problem, he's very smart and creative but he just can't focus/concentrate when it comes to long homework assignments and studying.

  • Motivation to work out + stop comfort eating?

    Hey guys,

Long story short, I'm 5'1" and used to weigh 115 lbs, but ever since I stopped my main sport (figure skating) in June, I have put on 30 pounds. I know it's because I don't exercise anymore, and I have also been a comfort eater (eating junk makes me feel good). These two together I know have been the cause for my weight gain.

My question is, how can I motivate myself to work out and stop comfort eating? I'm always snacking on things, and when I feel stressed or have had a bad day, I stop at Tim Horton's and get an iced cap. Sometimes I'll have an iced cap 2-3 days in a row. I bought a fitness membership to use the fitness center at my university this semester, but I only went four times during the whole semester because I could never motivate myself enough to go. If I had someone to go with, I would feel more motivated, but I don't have any friends who are interested in working out with me.

So, my main problem is motivating myself. Any advice/tips on how I can motivate myself to work out more and stop comfort eating would be greatly appreciated! :)

  • Derive by definition x - (3x^2)(sin(1/x))?

    Hi everyone,

    I have to derive "x - (3x^2)(sin(1/x))" by definition.

    I know that you have

    lim(x -> c) [f(x) - f(c)] / (x-c)

    = [{x - (3x^2)(sin(1/x))} - {c - (3c^2)(sin(1/c))}] / (x-c)

But I can't manipulate it further to get the derivative.

Any tips would be great, thanks!
